‘D’AKA’
‘REGULUS’
‘Help’
Her cries.
Her cries still haunted Paulie. He was drinking and smoking drugs like there was no tomorrow, but he still could not get the image out of his mind. He reasoned that once he fell asleep, he would forget about it and moved on like usual. This was not the first time he did horrendous acts … however, it was the first time he saw such … thing … on a child so young.
“Why so solemn, Paulie?”
The voice jolted Paulie, sobered him up a bit. It was Omar’s. The two-meter man was all smiles, a mug of beer in his left hand and a devil lettuce joint in his right. He seemed unbothered by the thing he had done. If anything, he looked much happier, like he had forgotten that he was just beaten up by a young boy.
“Nothing, Omar. Just … enjoying the devil lettuce.” Paulie took a drag from his devil lettuce, trying to put up a front. He could not let Omar or any of the Lorcas knew that he was bothered by … simple misdeed.
“He he, Good stuff no? It’s from the south, me and the boss' homeland to be exact. Thanks to your … former boss dying. Shipping them became easier. We gonna start distributing them soon.”
Paulie was not really that interested in the topic, or to be exact in socializing with Omar. However, Omar was an executive in the gang — and a very erratic one at that. Not trying to please him was not a wise option.
“So you and the boss came from the same place huh? Where is it?”
Hearing a question about his homeland, Omar’s face brightened up even more.
“We came from Ivorkhan. Ever heard of it? It’s located on the edge of the southern continent. The food and buildings — thousand times better than anything you could find in Azalia. The people though … more or less the same. They got gangs like us. Arrogant nobles. And high up their ass royalties. The weather there was nice, unlike here …”
Omar kept yapping and yapping about how great Ivorkhan was. Once in a while, Paulie nodded and asked basic questions to feign interest. It worked like a charm on the high and drunk Omar. Before he realized it, hours had passed and his table was now crowded by other Lorca’s gang members who were interested in Omar’s story … or did not want to miss the chance to brown-nose him.
“Ha ha ha… Oh, we’re out of devil lettuce.” Omar’s story was interrupted when he tried to grab a joint. Paulie seized his chance to get some alone time. “Let me grab some.”
“Thanks, Paulie. You can grab them in the storeroom. Roll a lot for us, yeah?”
Paulie tried to remember where the hideout’s storeroom was. But then again, he could just take his time getting lost. He was still a rookie in the gang, it was a decent excuse to escape from Omar for a moment.
Krieeek
Something was coming. Brazenly entering the Lorca hideout. Before Paulie or any of the gang members could see it — they smelled it. Horrible, pungent smell. Smell of corpses, of dried blood, of unwashed masses.
Paulie turned his head and looked at the entrance door. All he could see was a small kid …
… with skin black as iron.
**********
Smell.
It smelled of alcohol, gunpowder, and some weird smoke. These weird smokes affected the nerves.
None of these smells mattered.
Regulus was searching for a specific smell. The smell of Ana’s blood.
Sniff
One sniff, and he mapped the entire smell of the building. He found four sources of Ana’s scent.

Pak
One click of the mouth, and the echoes helped him picture the layout of the building — and the number of occupants.
Thirty-one.
That’s the number of humans he needed to exterminate tonight.
Tap Tap
Regulus walked.
He walked to the one who had the strongest trace of Ana’s scent.
The humans around him backed off, deterred by his scent. Weakling. Why were such weaklings dared to touch, harm, and even kill one of their youngling marked by his scent? Were they so eager to die?
Tap
Regulus stood before the tall human, taller than the average adult humans he had ever faced. A bit taller and bigger than Krieg. He was surrounded by five other humans. Two of them also had Ana’s scent on them.
“Omar?”
Regulus wanted to confirm if one of them was Omar. The name of the human that killed Ana.
“I am. What do you want, Kid?”
The tall human stood up. Towering even the other humans in the building. He pulled out a piece of metal. Similar to these ‘blades’ the younglings often had on them, but shaped in a square.
“Why did you kill Ana? Were you hungry?”
That was the one thing that Regulus did not understand from Ana’s death. It was normal for a creature, even a Molrret to be killed by another creature. All must ate to survive. What was not normal from Ana’s death was … there was no sign of an attempt to ate her. It was… unnatural.
“Ana? Hungry? Are you crazy, kid!? Fuck off before I kill you.”
A threat? Understandable. Regulus was in his territory after all. Was Ana in his territory when he killed her? Then it would make sense why Ana was not eaten… but from what he observed, humans did not really kill each other for trespassing each other's territories — or did they? Humans, so complicated.
“DID YOU NOT HEAR ME KID!? FUCK. OFF!!!”
Omar got louder. A show of strength. It was a pathetic show. Regulus experienced louder, more powerful bone chilling roars. Omar’s held no weight in comparison.
Sniff
Regulus sniffed Omar once more. The scent of Ana’s blood mostly came from his hand … and genitals. Was it mating? Was that the reason? Regulus had witnessed a few creatures who mated so roughly it killed their partners. However, Ana was still a youngling. She could not reproduce yet. What was the point?
Another human with Ana’s scent approached Omar and Regulus. “Hey kid. He’s serious. Get out of here before you get hurt.”
His tone, there was worry behind it. But he had Ana’s blood on him. Why was he worried about Regulus? Were they not competing with each other?
“That’s it. I’m done.”
Omar proclaimed. It seemed he had no intention of explaining his reasoning, his motive in killing Ana to Regulus.
No matter.
If he did not want to explain, then Regulus did not need the answer. It did not change what Regulus came here to do.
************
Omar Swung his piece of metal at Regulus — it broke on contact. He was confused, he thought he was seeing things, that the alcohol and drugs in his system made him hallucinate.
Regulus moved his hand.
He grabbed Omar’s leg.
Brak
Omar’s huge body fell to the ground. He was confused. Everyone around him was confused. Why did he fall?
They got their answer. Omar only had one leg left. The other one, still stood straight — severed by Regulus.
“AAAAAGH”
The pain was delayed. His brain just processed what happened after he saw the stump on his leg. He jerked around in pain violently, making everyone around him stepped back.
Tap Tap
Regulus approached.
Fear set in. Omar finally realized that he was not facing a kid, but the grim reaper himself.
“Wait, Wait.” Omar crawled away on his butt as he begged Regulus to not came any closer.
Regulus did not wait.
He was focused on one thing. Omar’s genitals. It carried the strongest trace of Ana’s scent, other than his hands. Regulus knew what a human’s hands could do… but a human’s genitals. That was uncharted territory. It might hurt him. Regulus was not going to take any risk.
Regulus stomped Omar’s genitals — crushing it.
Omar convulsed inhumanely. His body curved, straining his back muscle, mouth foaming, hands were shaking uncontrollably. His leg stump and crushed balls, spurting blood all over the floor. Every humans who saw Omar covered their own genitals out of reflex.
Regulus sidestepped Omar’s spasming body. He wanted to be able to reach Omar’s head.
And Regulus put his hand on it…
SPLURT
… He crushed it. Omar’s brain matter flew out, painting the floor red. Regulus had no intention to ate it. Regulus had no intention to ate any of the humans in this building. Just… pure… extermination.
…
…
…
“Uuu — UWAAAH”
Panic. Panic set in. Some ran to the nearest exit they could find. Some, like Paulie, frozen in fear. Paulie was reminded of Krieg. Bald Head told him that according to some of his old gang members that witnessed Krieg’s death, the culprit was a black, iron skinned monster. The one who slain Krieg was standing in front of him. Paulie dropped to his knees …
“Pl - Please.” He begged for his pathetic life.
But Regulus did not care about him. Regulus was more concerned about the humans who were running away. None, shall leave.
Regulus took a deep breath …
… And he unleashed a deafening roar..
“KYYAAAAAAAKKKK”
Those who were near him had their eardrums burst. Meanwhile those who were running from him, fell to the ground, covering their ears. The noise disrupted their balance.
Paulie was writhing on the ground. His ears flooded with blood. His vision, blurry. The earth felt like it was spinning and shaking…
… No. The earth was shaking.
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
Even with his burst ear drums, he could hear the violent shaking of the earth.
CRACK, BRACK.
The building was crumbling. Wooden pillars were breaking and falling from the sky. Chairs, tables, and shelves full of alcohol fell to the floor — it was an earthquake.
BRAK, CRACK.
Paulie tried to crawl to safety. He was not the only one. Everyone tried to escape the building, pathetically crawling for their survival. Everyone, but Regulus.
Regulus just stood there, unaffected, unbothered by the wrath of the earth.
Why would he? This was not the wrath of the earth after all.
It was the wrath of the Molrrets — His wrath.
‘Regulus … help’
The girl’s last words played in Paulie’s mind. Could it be? Could he be Regulus? Could he be here, to avenge the girl?
Paulie extended his hand towards Regulus. One last desperate attempt, begging for mercy. It was pointless, for Regulus did not see it.
BRAK. BRUUUUK
And the ground swallowed them all whole.
