“Alright. So this is the basics of combat css. You have a set of exercises to do to build muscle, then you get to train however you see fit. I personally believe practice matches are the best method” the teacher for S css combat css tells us.
He then handed out a piece of paper to each of us, with a list of exercises on them.
There is a different set of things for magic users compared to sword users.
“Excuse me sir” I say, raising my hand.
“Yes…” the teacher said, indicating he wanted my name.
“Nyx von Blut, what if you are training in both magic and a weapon?”
“At once?”
“Yes sir, I want to be a magic swordsman”
“What element of magic, and what type of swords men?”
“I know a few elements, and I think a speed based swordsmen”
“Allright, then do the exercises that are split for both an element of magic and the sword ones. If you are truly dedicated, that should work”
“Thank you sir”
“I look forward to see if you can complete it”
While I was talking to the teacher, I got a bunch of looks from my cssmates. Some of them seemed interested in my actions.
But Aric seemed very interested. Seeing my resolve, he seemed to get more dedicated as well.
From there, we got started.
The exercises were pretty normal for everything, nothing I didn’t do for dad’s practice.
And I finished everything, including my extra magic practice, with a whole hour left in css.
“Well, it looks like you do have some dedication” the teacher said to me. “What electives are you pnning on taking?”
“Combat movement and magical research”
“Hmm, a good choice for someone trying to be a magic swordsman. But do you have a third?”
“Not yet. I was going to look today, or just use the hour as extra training time”
“Come look at the Swordsmen css. If you want, it would be a good idea. It's a css for every year, so you can possibly train with uppercssmen”
Swordsmen was the css just for swordsmen. The school had a css for basically every individual magic and weapon. It was the best pce to level up each skill.
After the teacher was done talking to me, Emily came over to me.
“Want to practice together?”
“Sure”
And for the rest of the hour, Emily and I had practice matches. She was a skilled ice magic user, but it really showed how strong I am. She never came close to hitting me.
While we were training, I could see someone having a match with Aric. Aric seemed to not even care during the fight, just completely destroying the guy.
I could see several other people from the css training as well.
The Prince was probably the one taking it the most seriously, outside of Emily and me. He was repeatedly practicing his skills.
And when the hour was done, the teacher called us to go change before our next css, or if it's in the training area, to go find them.

My next css was the combat movement css. That css just dealt with a set of exercises that were to teach us the skills for movement.
There was an obstacle course that the teacher had us do. I know that this would be easier with the skills, but it would take a few csses to get even the first level of each skill.
This is where real life is substantially harder than the game. In the game, you did this css like 10 times and gained the first level of the first skill.
In real life, that was 2 weeks of csses.
Then I had magical research.
This css was interesting, but I wasn’t going to gain any skills from this css right away, but it did unlock side quests ter in the game and year, so ter in my life then.
These quests are how you unlock cooler magic, like time or gravity magic.
Then I had my st css. I was choosing my css today, but I felt inclined to try out the swordsmanship css.
When I got there, I found a surprise.
“Nyx?”
It was Lilith.
“Lilith, what are you doing?”
“This is one of my csses. Are you taking it as well?”
“I have an open spot, so this was an option” I tell her.
“You're taking it” she said, with no expression on her face.
“I mean, there are other csses…” I start.
“You. are. taking. this. Css.” she said, grabbing me and pulling me into the main group.
The teacher was the same one as my combat css.
He gave a brief expnation of the course, and then gave us a list of exercises, split into the different years and sent us on the way.
There were less exercises I needed to do since it was just sword stuff, and we only had an hour.
When I was done with the exercises, Lilith came back over to me.
“Nyx, I want to see how strong you are. To start, what level are you?” she asked me.
“0” I tell her.
“? Did dad never take you hunting?” she asked me.
“No”
“Well, what is your proficiency in the sword”
“Oh, 26”
“Huh, that was higher then mine when I first started here. Thats good” she says. “Ok, so how about a training match”
“Ok” I said, and pulled out my practice sword.
I didn’t own my own weapon yet, so this was the only thing I had. On Liliths side she had a strong looking sword. She was a fifth year student, so she had access to every training area the school has. So she probably found it in some ruins out there.
But for the practice match, she uses a practice sword as well.
For the rest of css, we duel. Lilith is way stronger than me currently, and is not as good as dad is at holding back.
Based purely on my estimate, she should be around level 70, with her proficiency in the sword at a close point, probably 75ish.
When the css was done, we started talking.
“You did a good job” she told me.
“Thank you”
“Well, I have some things to do for the student council, but, I want you to come to my room again tonight. And don’t leave without talking to me” she said. She then leaned and kissed my cheek.
This wasn’t strange, but since we hadn’t done it since I was a little kid, I started to blush a little.
