Chrissy’s POV
It was Saturday, finally the weekend has started, ending a stressful school week. Even though I didn’t attend school much, I didn’t even check if I had any homework. I spent the entire night checking this SeekersoftheAncientflame website and I have to say….I’m a little disappointed. It’s not that I didn’t get any information, it’s just that the information was pretty rudimentary. Like, when I searched vampire history, the only information I got was a basic history lesson. That during the decline of the Blood Moon Kingdom ten thousand years, the blood devil Lamagra turned Michael Dragomair due to his valiance in battle. This was all it said, no further details. Granted this was things that I already know.
It also said if I wanted more information, I had to upgrade my membership. Apparently, aunt Vivian was only had a bronze membership, the lowest one. If I wanted more information, I would need to purchase either an iron, silver, gold, diamond or platinum membership. My eyes widened in shock when I saw the monthly subscription for platinum, which was 2000 Aurous coins. Way too much for a family like mine to pay. Iron rank was 150 coins a month. It made me think that aunt Vivian wasn’t the sexy, sly, seductive fox that I thought she was. Or which ever rich ‘friend’ was paying for her subscription wasn’t as gullible as I thought.
I looked up other stuff on her iPad as well, stuff like werewolf, witches and helsing history which I found interesting. Werewolves were created nine thousand years ago by the devil Fenrir, a beast of the wild hunt. Unlike vampires who only had one progenitor, they had several, mainly because Fenrir turned humans from different civilizations, such as the Aztecs, native American tribes and the Vikings. The witches were created by the four sisters around nine thousand years ago as well. The four sisters or the sorcery sisters as they were also called, turned oppressed women from the continent of African into witches. Helsing are by far the most unique race among the four, unlike others who had one devil or group of devils, they had creators from different sources. Such as the house of death, sea demons, blood demons, dream demons, etc. Their progenitors are ‘human revolutionists’, whatever the fuck that meant.
I sighed and decided to search other things like vampire, werewolf, witches, demons and helsing society. They were interesting, but the data was rudimentary, and weirdly enough, I couldn’t get any information on demons, except a list of demon houses and what their ‘authorities’ are. Which I guessed were their specialized magic or something.
“Chrissy, you up?” Mom asked as she knocked on my door
“Yes.” I replied and quickly exited the website, as she opened the door and entered
“How are you feeling honey?” She asked as she sat beside me on the bed, before spotting the fluffy pink case of Vivian’s iPad.
“And why do you have Vivian’s iPad?” She asked, with a indescribable look on her face
“She loaned it to me.” I said simply
“You…should probably give it back before you find….something disturbing. Okay honey?” Mom said in a concerned tone, when I remembered that her gallery was password protected.
‘What could she be hiding?’ I thought, but I wasn’t too interested. I’m sure whatever she is hiding is pretty spicy…or immensely disturbing. Either way, I didn’t want to find out.
“Sure.” I said
“Now, let’s head downstairs. We are going to continue your training.” Mom said happily and I looked at her worried
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. If I start training now, then I might get sick again, and we don’t have anymore of Victor’s blood.” I said and mom smiled sweetly
“Don’t worry, your grandma and aunt are taking care of that right now.” Mom said.

Camilla POV
Vivian and I rushed through the forest with a cooler in hand. Inside were three empty blood bags and all the necessary supplies to draw blood. It may be a little optimistic for us to hope that Victor would give his blood if we asked, but I don’t think it would be wise to try and force him. I’m can’t be sure, but there was something familiar about him and that familiar carried with it a feeling of terrible danger. He has been cooperative so far and hasn’t shown any direct hostility towards the family other than when he was attacked first, and I would like to keep it that way. No sense in creating an enemy we know nothing about.

*Knock*
*Knock*
Vivian knocked on his door, seemingly unconcerned and free of my caution, like she was visiting a friend. Bold and lovely as always. I could soon hear footsteps coming down the stairs and the door opened. I soon laid eyes on Victor, an enigma to us, a human who seemingly have the ability to fight against four vampires in direct combat. A laughable claim, there is no way he is human.
“Good morning handsome…ahem, I’m afraid it’s not that kind of visit.” Vivian said with a sweet smile and I rolled my eyes. Victor was currently only in a towel, and his hair was wet, evidence that he has just finished taking a bath. Looking him over, I could see his muscular body, not overly muscular like a body builder, but slender well defined muscles. My eyes were, however, drawn to a red pattern that covered his right pectoral. The pattern was complex, with overlapping and interlocked circles and old symbols, that seemed to be reminiscent of an ancient language.
‘A rune.’ I thought in shock, wondering why a rune would be carved in a person’s body. If someone said that was just a tattoo, I would rip them apart, there is no way someone would request something so complex and profound just for show, without knowing what it meant. Runes, by nature were symbols that held meaning, significance and power as they are able to draw on the magical energy around it. Firstly, to even draw a rune, you would need to have magical energy, and precise control of that magical energy, or else it would simply dissipate into nothing. My mother knew a witch, and I learned a bit from her about different types of sorcery for the first five hundred years of my life and I could infer a bit about what the rune was meant to do.
Sealing.
“Uhm, sorry, I just got out of the bath and I heard the door bell ring so I just ran down here without thinking. So, what did I do to be visited by two beautiful women this early in the morning?” He asked while leaning against the door and I smiled.
“Well, we need something from you. And I don’t think it would be appropriate to talk about it outside.” Vivian whispered in a coy voice
“Don’t worry, I’m the only one all the way out here, so I’m sure no one will hear or see anything.” He whispered back
“I guess so, but first, I brought you a gift.” She said and presented a basket she prepared before hand. It had a apple pie, brownies and a bottle of red wine.
“Thank you, but that doesn’t mean that I’m going to invite you into my house.” He said as he took the basket out of her hand. Smart lad.
“No need, we can just do it out here.” She said and opened the cooler, revealing the empty blood bags.
“Oh, let me go get dressed.” He said and headed back upstairs
“He’s smart, not inviting two vampires into his house.” I said
“I’d say he’s a bit rude, he did invite Chrissy into his house, yet he’s leaving us out here to rot.” Vivian said as she set down her cooler on the small table on the veranda and sat on one of the two chairs. I stretched my hand towards the door and an invisible force stopped me from entering the house. The cursed veil. That damn magical construct has it’s perks like preventing humans from discovering us, but it also limits us in other ways.
“Can you sense it? There is a lot of magical energy swirling around that house. Way too much for just a few magical plants.” I said as I sat beside her
“Hmm, maybe he has a few more somewhere. Maybe in the basement.” Vivian answered and we could hear him coming down the stairs
“Can you bring the bottle of wine and some wine glasses, also a chair.” She said loudly and I could imagine him rolling his eyes. I few minutes later, he came out with the basket and a chair.
“Okay, let’s get this over with.” He said and took out the wine glasses and wine.
“Aren’t you pouring?” Vivian asked with a sweet smile and he rolled his eyes before popping open the bottle and poured into the three cups
“So I guess this means you can drink wine. What else can you eat other than blood?” Victor asked
“Well, we can eat things that contain magical energy, as long as that magical energy is of the blood authority or has a low enough concentration of other authorities, allowing us to stomach it. Wine is the only human food we can stomach, at our level anyway.” I replied as I pierced the needle into his skin, draining his blood into the blood bag.
“Right, that clears up a lot.” He said taking a sip of the wine and Vivian also grabbed a glass.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure Chrissy will explain everything when you see each other tomorrow. I heard about your little tour around the town with her and her friends.” She said as she took a sip and I shrugged before grabbing the other glass. We sat in silence for a while, sipping our drink and watching the blood bag full up. It wasn’t until the second bag was being filled that the silence was broken.
“So Victor, tell me about your family? Why are you living alone?” I asked
“Well, my family is still in NYC. My parents are their for work, not willing to leave their job. My elder sister is currently off working overseas and my little sister is at some boarding school in the UK. We don’t exactly have the best family relationship.” He replied and I have to say….that was probably the worst lie I’ve ever heard. Why would his parents send him to this place on his own?
“You must be wondering why I’m here alone. Well, like my mom said, and I quote, ' You are an adult now, so you should stop hiding under my skirt and get the fuck outta here.’” He said and I looked at him in surprise. That’s gotta be a terrible thing for a human mother to say to their child, if he decided to come all the way here. But, I also got similar ‘advice’ from my mom on my 100th birthday when she kicked me out of the house.
‘Not my fondest memory.’ I thought with a wince
“I always wanted to visit the countryside and I also wanted to see at least one of the ten natural wonders of the world. So I came to Mystique Falls.” He said and I gave him a fake smile. The ten ‘natural’ wonders of the world, ten beautiful spectacles that defy all laws of physics. The reflection of the other world in the seas off the coast of the UK, the ever raging storms of the Bermuda triangle that exists all year round, the shattering space-time of Italy, the misty death forest of Latvia, the island mirage of the Atlantic, etc. These were all physics defying phenomenons that baffled humans from all around the world, but magical creatures like us know better. Those ‘natural’ wonders were actually things caused by large amounts of magical energy being gathered in one place, whether voluntarily by a demon or involuntarily by magical phenomenon like rifts.
“You know those aren’t actually natural right? They are actually magical in nature, caused by large amounts magical energy pooling in one place.” Vivian said
“Really? Then I’m guessing all the plants I found near the waterfalls are probably magical then.” He mumbled causing me to squint
“What?” Vivian asked
“Nothing.” He quickly answered, but both of us knew what he was talking about. The Mystique Falls was also one of these ‘natural wonders’ and thus was caused by magical energy. Their was a huge waterfall and river deep into the forest, that glowed beautifully, like the Aurora Borealis in the winter skies. Scientists have speculated that it was caused by unique algae that resided in the river, or glowing stones on the river bed, but they still didn’t figure it out. The Mystique Falls used to get thousands of visitors monthly who wanted to see the beautiful falls, but that number soon dulled down to a few hundred a year. There were also the few magical creatures that have come and tried to find whatever treasures the falls had, but they have left empty handed. A few even threatened the family for us to give up whatever secrets we had about the falls, but they were all dealt with. We ourselves have also tried to get whatever was inside the falls, but with no luck. Could he have figured it out? More than likely considering the amount of magical plants he has.
