Various objects are floating around in this strange space. And, a young man who’s scanning through them all.
Besides him is a strange creature who’s quietly watching. It seems to resemble a cat with a pair of wings and gleaming golden fur.
Wherever the man’s eyes nd, an interface window pops up. He takes a look at one of them, the one that’s tagged to a bunch of colorful gss vials.
—Beyonder
The pyer will obtain the selected Sequence 9 Potion—
The man nods his head in amusement, before moving on to the next object. It is a gently shining gem.
—Magical Girl (Female only)
The pyer will be bound to a Soul Gem.
Warning: The Soul Gem can be corrupted, turning into a Grief Seed, locking the pyer’s css to Witch—
“Wow, this game is insane…” The young man says, and slowly inspect the rest of the items. There are many of them left, and even more that his eyes can’t see.
—Cultivator
The pyer will obtain a Jade Talisman containing the Qi Gathering Technique—
—Mage
The pyer will obtain the Basic Magic Codex—
—Knight
The pyer will obtain a Scroll containing the Basic Knight Breathing Technique—
“Wow, how many are there? Let’s continue!” He can’t help but excim. The golden winged cat watches him in amusement.
—Automaton
The pyer will be bound to a Steam Core—
—Hunter
The pyer will awaken as a G-rank Hunter—
—Angel
The pyer will obtain a pair of Angel Wings
Warning: When corrupted, the pyer’s css will be locked to Fallen Angel—
“Wait, there's still more? Truly a game that accommodates all pystyles.” Now, the man can no longer keep his calm, but his eyes can still keep moving.
—Beast Master
The pyer will obtain a Beast Codex—
—Priest/Cleric
The pyer will become the selected God’s follower
Warning: Changing faith will incur massive penalties—
—Esper
The pyer will awaken a random G-rank Esper Ability—

The pyer will obtain all Basic Steam Machine Blueprints—
“Oh my god, we are still not done?” The young man finally stops, and sits down on the spot.
The winged cat, who has been keeping its silence for all this time, finally lets out a snicker.
“If you keep looking, you won’t finish until next week!” It speaks in the voice of a young girl.
“Haa… Fine! I must admit, this really is a ground-breaking game… You can truly take any path you want…”
“So? Have you decided?”
“Well, let me look at one more first.”
And the next item is… A piece of tattered cloth.
—Wretch
The pyer will start with nothing
Warning: Very difficult starting css, not recommended for beginners—
”Uh oh… Maybe not this one. Wait, you reckon there might be some hidden benefits?”
“Who knows?”
The man’s face twitches at the cat’s answer. Well, even if there are actual benefits, he wouldn’t pick such a css.
The man retraces his steps, and walks towards an item he has seen before. Even though there are so many more unchecked items, he can’t stay here forever.
“This is the path that I choose!” He speaks confidently, reaching out his arms to grab an object.
“Hehe… Alright! I hope you can walk this path till the end! Welcome to Divine Path Online’s Closed Beta Test! I wish you a fun time in the world of Solune!”
A/N: Not a spoiler, but it's a rant. Don't read if you don't want to, but if you do, much appreciated.
SpoilerThis is like the third or fourth time I tried to write something with an mmorpg theme. When I scrapped the st one, I noticed that my problem is being very fixated with numbers.
For example, if another author writes damage numbers like 1099 1200 2031 etc, I would immediately think "oh why is the damage 1099?" "what's the scaling on that weapon/skill" "what's the range for random damage deviation" "what's the formu for damage reduction scaling based on Defense" etc etc. You can say that I am being a huge nerd, which, yes, I am.
Thus, for this story, I want to try and shake that mindset off, and allow my numbers to be more arbitrary as long as it is reasonable. I don't want to whip out a calcutor whenever I want to write a fight scene or redo a character sheet. I am already using a calcutor to write that other Gregtech fanfic that I have, and it is burning me out fast.
The title isn't something I am proud of, and I would love something better. Maybe in the future.
