The Dangers of a Fire 5

“Land!” Elijah screamed as he got off the aeropne. Jason shook his head but couldn’t agree more. The ride was a long one, especially with their father on the phone screaming at incompetent people.

Looking ahead of them, Jason saw a man that looked to be around his father’s age walking with children beside him and out of the minivan climbed another man. Both of them looked handsome.

Raising a brow at his father, who dropped his bags and rushed towards them, screaming. Their father and the man hugged, and soon the other man joined them. As they reached the elders, Gun looked at his children with a smile saying, “Kids, this is your uncles, Chang Min and Kyu Hyun. We’ll be staying with them.”

The children bowed in greeting, then the bags got loaded into the minivan. The van was filled with the adults speaking. Jason looked at the eldest son of the couple who he found out were married and the children came from Chang Min.

He smiled at him, asking, “Do you know where we’re going?”

He nodded, “To the park. I think it’s to get rid of the jetg and to eat.”

Jason nodded knowingly but felt so shit. He wanted to sleep, and he wasn’t in the mood for people. But they were in South Korea and where else to better spend their holiday?

Gun tapped Jason on the hand, “Stop with the long face, enjoy your holiday.”

He raised a brow. “What face?”

Gun poked his cheek, “That one. I know you don’t like humans, but you’ve got no choice. Get used to it now. You’ll be the head of the company one day, and dealing with humans is going to be part of your daily life.”

Chang Min smirked from the front seat, “Ignore him Jason, you don’t have to deal with them. You can hire someone, too.”

“How do you two know each other?” He asked as he looked at Chang Min.

The two friends made eye contact, then Gun grinned. “I helped him get rid of a problem, but otherwise, we’ve been online friends for years.”

“Didn’t you teach us to not talk to strangers over the internet?” Elijah chimed in.

The friends chuckled, “It was a good mistake, we both benefitted.” Chang Min said.

Chang Min looked at Jason and then at his son. Turning to Gun, he smirked, “What do you think of their match?”

Gun looked at the boys, then back at Chang Min and scoffed, “I thought we agreed to let nature take its course?”

He shrugged. “The sooner, the happier I will be.”

Everyone returned to Chang Min and Kyu Hyun’s home, and the children were exhausted. Everything was perfect and peaceful, tiring mostly.

Jason raised a brow as Gun walked into his room dressed to the nines. He sat down on the bed beside him and brushed the hair from his face. Looking down at his son, he said, “I’m leaving now.”

Jason hummed, “Where to? Is it work again?”

He nodded. “I need to mingle more or else I’ll die alone.”

“So it’s not for work but for yourself,” he corrected.

Gun chuckled and kissed him on the cheek, “Don’t be mean child. It’s a charity event. I need to network. Let Chang Min know if you need anything, but other than that, I’ll be home as soon as it’s over.”

With a gss of champagne in hand, Gun moved toward the dessert table, eyes scanning the crowd now and then. This event was more than just a social affair; it was a chance to expand his network, to meet the right people—business magnates who could open doors for the future of Kai Technologies Limited.

The air smelled of sweet pastries and rich chocotes, and he couldn’t help but smirk at how even something as simple as a dessert table could be so vish.

As he reached for a delicate écir, the warmth of another body brushed against him. His gss tilted slightly, and champagne sloshed over the rim.

“Ah, terribly sorry,” came a smooth, accented voice.

Gun turned to see a tall, sharply dressed man with striking features—bck hair, sharp blue eyes, and a grin. He held up his own gss as though acknowledging the near collision. The man was unmistakably British, and his calm, collected manner suggested he was someone used to getting attention.

“No harm done,” Gun replied, quickly regaining his composure. He eyed the man with curiosity. This wasn’t an accidental bump; this was opportunity knocking.

“Cassius Bridge,” the man introduced himself, holding out his hand. “I’m afraid I’ve made quite the first impression.” His smile widened, showing off perfect teeth.

Gun shook his hand, noting the firm grip. “Gun. It’s a pleasure,” he said, smiling in return. “Though I think I’m the one who should apologise, I was the one not paying attention.”

Cassius chuckled. “Well, I suppose we could both be more careful. But let’s call it even. What brings you to this ga? Surely, it’s more than the dessert table.”

Gun raised an eyebrow. He liked how direct Cassius was. No need for small talk, just right to business. “Growing my network, actually. Always good to meet new people. Yourself?”

Cassius’s grin became more of a smirk. “Same. It’s a wonderful pce to make connections, don’t you think? Especially when you’re in the right circles.”

Gun lifted his gss slightly in a silent toast. “I couldn’t agree more.”
