Arath charged once she deemed I was ready, her shield raised in front effectively covering the entirety of her body from any type of ranged attack I might send.

I waited until she was almost on top of me before stepping quickly to the side intending to tap my give against her rump as she passed. Instead just as her shield was about to pass she blinked.

So instead of dodging perfectly like I should have, Arath smmed into my back almost taking me off my feet.

"God damnit!" I cursed digging my feet into the ground and pressing my weight against her, my give lost but I wasn't bothered as I could recall it easily.

The soft grass gave way as she plowed on trying to get me off my feet with her momentum. In return I shoved back hoping my Primordial strength would make up the difference in our species strength.

  It worked. Partly.

Even sliding along I could still remain upright fairly easily. Unfortunately there was no way I was going to stop half a ton centaur that had already got a running start and I was running out of open field. Or maybe that wasn't a problem?

Keeping my right shoulder against Araths shield I resummoned my give in my left hand, putting its tip against the shield I lined it's opposite end up with the tree Arath was going to crush me against.

Noticing my pn Arath pivoted, throwing her arm that her shield was connected to the side along with me. This did take me off my feet this time but I rolled with the throw coming to my feet before Arath could capitalize.

To her credit she did try to take the opportunity presented with a downward ssh of her bde aimed right at my shoulder, her four legs seemed to eat the distance between us quicker that I expected. Even faster than I expected of a centaur.

Memory of when we shared our skills answered my question as she did have a running speed skill. The blink was new however.

Blocking the strike aimed for my shoulder with the middle of my give, I spun it to the side leaving my red head open to a quick poke to her midsection. This being too easy I quickly tapped the tip of my give against her belly between the ptes of her magical armor.

Letting out a growl Arath nodded and took a step back reading herself for another round.

I could see the anger and disappointment growing in her eyes as she prepared herself.

"Arath dear, I've been fighting for a very long time. You can't judge your own skills against mine it's just unfair."

Her hoof smmed into the ground. "That's exactly the point!" She cried out. "I should be able to keep up with you at the very least as your Padin."

She didn't give me a chance to reply before charging again this time as she approached I could feel my movements slow down slightly. Not enough that it would stop me in any way but enough that I could tell something had changed.

This actually caused me to smile. Arath was taking the advice I'd given to Willow and was trying out a few different skills. I guess trying them out on me however as I ducked the strike this time successfully dodging to the side getting around her guard to tap he ass with the ft of my give.

"Keep that one. Will be very helpful if its stronger and slows me down any more." I said to the now sulking mare as she readied herself again.

"Didn't seem to do much." She mumbled.

"No but blinks good for an ambush doesn't have a lot of uses in a drawn out fight."

I followed this up by blinking onto her back.

  "See?"

  Arath nodded.

"Whatever slowed me down would be really good in a long battle." I said trying to encourage her at least a little bit.

Arath let out a sigh, desummoning her armour in the process. "It's an aura skill. I'd hoped it would do more especially after almost getting you with blink. Shows what I know."

I gave her a rather loud sp on her rump. "Now no being like that. You've already lost if you give up. Plus it was only level one. A skill that low isn't going to do too much."

Willow and Kayalett had wordlessly started to set up camp for the night with the arachnid weaving her web arm system again.

Arath made her way over with me still on her back before falling ungracefully onto her side almost crushing me if I didn't move fast enough. "Then what can I do my love. Is there a skill I can get or some way I can improve enough? This entire trip was to get stronger I know but all it has proven is that you are leagues ahead of us and that gap will only get bigger."

"Not yet Arath but soon." I replied coming around to give her a kiss. "I need fifty skill points then I can give you a evocation. It should allow you to keep up with me, you just have to be patient."

I was trying to keep it a secret until I could purchase it but Arath needed some reassurance at this point and I could hardly bme her.

"Will it really though Lazarus? Can you promise I'll be able to stand at your side without having to be saved?" Arath asked the doubt heavy in her words.

Kayalett had joined us right as Arath was finishing up and offered a sad smile. Yeah all of the girls are going to want to be reassured ain't they?

"Well in all honesty I don't know." I started. "What I do know is that having the Primordial css makes me a god as you guys know, and as each of you have sworn yourself to me I have been given multiple options on what I can make your evocations. Each of you without fail has the option of becoming a Primordial as an evocation and that's what I intend to do. I am however unsure what type of effect it will have or if it will be enough to bridge the gap but I intend to find out."

I met each of their eyes as I said this making sure they heard it. "Arath will be first and we will discuss from there based on what it actually means."

This seemed to strike Arath out of her somber mood. "Why didn't you tell us sooner my love?" The visible shift in her demeanor was almost jaring.

"Because I didn't know how to get skill points when I first found out and I still don't know if it will be enough." I said back honestly. "It still might not be enough and even if it is you have to take into account I've been doing this for a long time. Ever since I was first summoned I've been fighting every creature under the sun. So it would be very disappointing if you could beat me. There was also the fact that when we first met I was still trying to figure this world out and even when I knew there are just too many skills I needed myself before I could save up enough."

Kayalett chuckled. "Arath just wants you to be a damsel in distress for her to swoop in and save."

"There's nothing wrong with that." My mare mumbled back.

I ughed. "Come on I'm suppose to be the one carrying you off into the sunset. Or I guess riding you into the sunset."

"Or just riding her." Kayalett said wiggling her eyebrows.

Arath blushed but didn't hide away. "In any case, how many skill points do you still need?"

"I have twenty four right now and with Zemelly and Vataria I probably get just shy of ten skill points a day. So it would take around three days to get enough to buy the evocation. That being said I think it's going to be for the best if we hold off on actually entering the dungeon until after Arath has the evocation. Just in case." I answered leaning up against my red head and snuggling into her fur.

"That's still a lot of skill points everyday my lord." Willow said with a quiet mumble.

"He's a god Willow." Arath replied with like it answered every question. I suppose it does in some regards. "Besides he still needs to get strong enough to beat...." She let her words trail off not sure if she should mention her Paragons deal.

  "Anything else." She finished.

Both Willow and Kayalett noticed the hesitation but said nothing. They did however look at me but I didn't eborate.

"Anyway." Kayalett said as the silence stretched on. "Arath we've set the tent up for the two of you tonight. Get some sleep, Willow and I will take turns keeping watch."

Arath tried to make an argument but it didn't get very far before a yawn forced her to admit she was tired from pulling the cart all day. So I picked her up or at least tried to, getting her front half off the ground but stopped myself when there was too much strain. Note to self I need to level my Paragons strength skill before I can fully do that.

Letting her back down onto her own hoofs we said our goodnights and cuddled up together inside the tent. This was starting off to be an interesting adventure.
