Holy crap, Lois! It's Norman Persson from the hit webnovel First Class Caravan! His story just got 100 followers, Lois! Holy crap!
Whaow! Thank you so much for 100 followers! Caravan is my first time ever doing creative writing for more than a chapter. I am so happy that 102 of you liked my son Norman enough to click the little follow button. Extra special thank you to everyone who tunes in whenever there's a new chapter!
I know a slow paced slice of life story isn't exactly what most audiences want, but it has always been my favorite genre of book. The first book to ever capture my attention was a swedish book about a young man just living his life during the industrial revolution. Nothing exciting happens. He just lives, grows up, gets married, has a couple of kids, and then he dies. I absolutely adored it. Caravan won't be as mundane as that, of course. There's magic and a merchant empire and stuff, but the core of the story is just kids growing up with their weird and awkward dad.
I've never written anything down before, but I've always loved making stories about children. As an aspie adult, I feel like I never really grew up, and that's why I can capture a child's perspective on things. It's way more fun to write about a kid who has no idea what's going on rather than a super smart guy who knows everything instantly. If that's fun to read about, I have no idea. Maybe you'll tell me in the comments if you've bothered to read this yapping session.
Pail is a prime example of my love for writing things from the perspective of a child. He isn't the main character, but when it switches to his perspective, I have a lot of fun trying to see how things would look from his perspective. A child raised wearing rags isn't gonna understand that dresses are only worn by girls, and a child who has grown up having to fight for food is gonna hide any food they have. I'm gonna have lots of fun writing about how he grows up, because woop woop, there's gonna be time skips!
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
The merchant part of the story is coming soon I PROMISE. If you're here for that then just let it simmer a little bit and you'll get what you desire. If you're here for swordfights or big magic battles then uhhhh, may I point you to my other stories? They won't get updated as often as Caravan, just cause Caravan is my favorite, but I still post at least a few times a week! I want to add romance for at least one of the characters, but I have no idea what an acceptable romance would be to the Royal Road audience. I made a little poll about who Norman should kiss as a joke, but teehee it was to sus out wether people would be okay with homosexuality or not. I know the manhwa and manhua communities are super against lgbtq characters in non-lgbtq centered stories, and that's kinda cringe. I'm a 21st century woman, I like boys and girls kissing.
Still, I get that it's not some people's jam, so I'm still debating if I should add a gay or straight romance. Well, other than Savant. Sorry to everyone in denial, but he has a massive crush on Norman if that wasn't clear enough. Savant is technically a genderless computer so I don't think it counts as a proper gay crush, but he does take on a male form when talking to Norman, just because he wants to match. If I were to add a romance, though, it wouldn't be overt or a major part of the story, but just a fun side thing. Norman probably wouldn't be the subject of said romance. As he is now, he's completely asexual without a hint of desire. That may change in the future, but probably not.
Other than that stuff, let me know if there's anything you want me to add! I am super open to ideas as I only have a vauge plan of where I want the story to go. Hop on my discord and yap at me and I will probably incorporate your idea in some way. If you like the story, leave a review telling everyone why it's good and amazing and the best story you've ever read. If you're a lurker, join the follower club, cmon cmon! There's 102 of you now, but my home is big enough for at least a million more!
Thank you again! I love you all!
