Chapter 17

Sunlight filtered through the gauzy curtains of my chamber, casting a soft glow that pyed upon the intricate patterns of the carpet beneath my feet. The hustle and bustle of the capital's revival reverberated in the distance, a casual reminder that life had regained its steady rhythm after the trial.

Sitting at a sturdy wooden desk, I was engrossed in a pile of parchments and scrolls, each one reflecting the complexities of ruling a kingdom. My eyes lingered on the ornate envelope, out of pce among the dull parchments. The King of Montreal's letter remained unread, its crumpled corners giving off a noticeable unease.

As expected, the cost of food imports has surged, putting a strain on our resources. However, the profits from the soap sales offer a glimmer of hope, providing a buffer that can sustain us for another three months. Selling it at half the price proved economically beneficial, as people now have extra money to spend on non-food items. This has enticed some traders to bring their goods to the capital, although it hasn't made a significant impact, it's a step forward.

Despite soap profits, the royal coffers couldn't cover rising expenses. I hired 30,000 more farmers and I am expected to hire more soon. As always they are paid upfront, meals freely covered. Even though about a dozen have lost their lives, more people still volunteer for the work. It's to be expected since I pay them 2 silver coins and that's five times as much as any farmer is paid across the continent. It has also led to a surge in popution.

The military increased too but unfortunately no one special. Even though I created impossible benefits unheard of across the continent, not even a single awakened joined. Almost as if they are avoiding me.

The doors to my chambers creaked open and I looked up to see mother gracefully walking in. I smiled.

She's as beautiful as ever. Her elegant blue gown draped gracefully around that succubus figure of hers, it's neckline delicately parted revealing a big hint of her cleavage, while the intricate ce work that adorned the divide added a touch of mystique to the enchanting ensemble.

"I didn't think you would come" I said, standing up from my seat behind the table and walking to her. I seized her round the waist, and drew her lips to mine, and gave her a long kiss; squeezing her to me. There is still resistance in those kisses. "I missed you."

Her gaze lingered upon me briefly, a silent exchange of uncertainty. Slowly, she eased herself from my embrace, her movements carrying an air of nonchance as if to mask the emotions that lingered just beneath the surface. She turned away with graceful ease and walked to the table. Among the scattered parchments and ink-stained secrets, her fingers moved lightly, brushing over the pages with gentle curiosity. Her inspection held a magnetic pull, a silent dialogue that continued even as words remained unspoken.

  "Why did you write?"

A smile tugged at my lips as I approached her by the table. My fingers moved across the surface as I carefully cleared the objects, making room for us

"I will be leaving the kingdom for Elgwood" I told her, "And I intend for you to hold charge while I'm gone."

She eased onto the table's edge, a nguid stretch of her form against its surface and I parted her legs, positioning myself in between them.

"...few months ago you never wanted to be in the same room as me" she said as I dropped by trousers and my dick sprang straight. "now you just can't wait to go inside me"

The words were ced with suspicions but I wasn't bothered. Not when the goddess has already vouched for me.

With one determined thrust my dick went in halfway, a grunt escaping her lips, and then with another, still more violent, I lodged myself up to the hilt within.

  ┌─────── ??? ───────┐

By dawn of the next morning everything was set for my first outing outside the capital, and I didn't pn on traveling light. 4000 soldiers, 100 knights and 3 maids. Even with all these, an unease lingered within me. No doubt those that want me dead have already gotten the news of my journey and I expect them to act, but then why am I still going? I don't know. Something in me tells me I should be making the journey if I want the Grimoire.

Walking down the long castle stairs with five knights, including Mustapha, a strange sight greeted me at the bottom: a motionless figure, kneeling in the shadows. The knights' unreactive demeanor suggested they were already acquainted with the mysterious scene.

  "Who is that?" I asked.

"A savage," Mustapha responded, his tone void of offense. "She's among the numerous exiles who sought sanctuary in the capital."

"Why is she kneeling there?" I asked.

"Turned away from joining the kingdom's army, she demanded an audience with the king," Mustapha recounted. "Though her plea was dismissed, she vowed to wait. Three days have passed since."

Intrigued, I kept my gaze fixed on her and continued my descent down the stairs. When I finally stood before her, she lifted her worn face to meet my gaze, her eyes reflecting hunger and weariness. She is a hulk of a man, cd in crude leather armor. Incredibly massive with huge breasts that are muscle toned like the rest of her body. She looked like a body builder heavy on steroids.

  "Your name?" I inquired.

"...Vojnka," came her feeble response, her voice betraying signs of weariness or thirst. Given her formidable physique, sustaining such a massive frame likely required substantial sustenance and hydration.

"Why this desperate desire to join my army?" I questioned further.

"...my people hungry, and only people called citizens get work on farms," she replied.

Weird. That restriction should have ended in the second batch. I let my eyes lingered on the hulk. She looked powerful and I couldn't understand why they wouldn't recruit her.

  [Name : Vojnka]

  [Css : Warrior]

  [Level : 62]

  [Strength : 682]

[Skills : Danger Sense; Bezerk; Great leap; Blunt Weapon Mastery; Tracking Mastery; Shockwave ; foraging; Beast Kinship;primal aura]

I wasn't totally shocked, it was kind of fitting to her physical outlook but how do they reject someone like her? Is it that there's no way of checking stats like I do? She has higher strength than Mustapha but lesser attack, which possibly means she will grow to be one hell of a monster. Notable skills too.

"Would you pledge your allegiance solely to me?" I inquired.

Her eyes widened, a surprised reaction evident on her face.

  "Yes, your majesty," she responded.

"Will you carry out any command without hesitation or inquiry?"

  "Y-yes, your majesty," she stammered.

My gaze lingered on her, capturing the desperation and bewilderment in her eyes.

"Prepare to depart in ten minutes."

"Thank you, your majesty," she nodded respectfully, bowing deeply as I proceeded past her toward the awaiting carriage.

Big mistake. I should have killed her when I had the chance.
