Tale 8: “Avanora” – Part 6.

Not really in any hurry, Ruby took the next twenty minutes to get all of her bck leather armor on and make sure that it was wrapped tightly around her form like a second skin before walking back to Nerice. “I know you like this, feel free to explore all you want, while I take this thing out of Gweyir’s chest.”

“You know I will, fiend.” Nerice jumped on Ruby’s back and wildly kissed her partner and after locking her legs around the pirate woman’s waist took a long and slow inspection with her fingers spread wide. “I have to thank that armorer, how is it possible that your tits are softer in leather than in my hands?” Nerice teased. “Sorry about the window, Tanya.”

With a tiny hop, Ruby had Nerice where she typically sat comfortably on her back. Flexing her hands, Ruby reached for the stake. “It’s like opening a present. What will I get?” She ughed, “Will I have a lovely vampire to toy with, or will I have to fight a cobra?”

“I guess I did make the charm a little too vague, but it is what it is. I only meant for her to be our inspiration, our reason for being. I made us her muse. Well, I am and thus you are.” Nerice nibbled on Ruby’s ear. “I have enough magic to turn one little vampire to dust if I need to, so pull and let me see my magic work.”

Patting Gweyir on the forehead, Ruby jerked the stake out of her chest and watched as the vampire's body closed the hole within a few seconds. Immediately after, Gweyir sat up and felt the bck magic course through her dead form, “I wasn’t going to attack either of you anyway. I lost the fight, I wasn’t about to go for round two.” She shook out her brown hair, then walked over to the other side of the room and grabbed Ruby’s brush. “Humans are easy. You and Nerice are the only mermaids I have ever encountered.” She brushed her hair free of any blood that might have nded in it over the course of the st couple of hours. “If I had smelled your blood…” She ughed, “There it is…I should have smelled your blood. Lesson learned.” Gweyir suddenly stopped talking and stood frozen in pce.

Initially, Ruby had her dagger in hand and the stake in the other. “Nerice, focus my memory and tell me if that is what you intended to have happen.” Committing the image before her to memory, Ruby watched as the bck shadowy magic moved through Gweyir with the blood that had been forced back into her body. It was only after the vampire turned and froze in pce that Ruby saw the cause. Gweyir’s eyes seemed to gather a small swirling storm of blue-bck complete with silvery lighting that after about five minutes disappeared and left Gweyir’s eyes as brown as they were before. “Did it work, Nerice?”

“If your memory is true, then it worked better than I hoped it ever would. If I didn’t know better she was pushing the magic into herself on purpose.” Nerice slinked her hands over the front of Ruby’s leather-cd chest both in adoration and for reassurance. “Tanya, I am very sure. Gweyir helped the magic, Your memory doesn’t even show that she’s hungry anymore, no red rims in her eyes.”

“Yes, I did.” Gweyir blinked and smiled. “Your blood was enchanted of course, and honestly…I could have cleansed it completely then gone hunting to recover the loss.” She put the brush back where it was and grabbed a handful of the ruby clips ying in front of the small area Ruby used as a vanity. “So, Nerice. It would have worked long enough for me to have acquired more blood.” She shrugged and clipped a few gems in her hair. “This way, It’s permanent.” Gweyir saw the confusion cross into Ruby’s hazel eye. “Calm down, it's fine.” She ughed and clipped more gems. “I liked what it was doing, how it made me feel and it was a familiar feeling. One I had missed for quite a few years.”

Nerice ughed, “I am not so sure that the magic didn’t force you into compliance and make it permanent. Either way, I’ll take it.” Nerice kissed Ruby’s neck. “I get it now Tanya. That familiar feeling…I suspect it goes back to her master’s control.” Nerice comforted herself with her fingers pressed on Ruby’s cheeks, “We are her masters now, she was a free vampire.”

“Exactly.” Gweyir added, “Now I will be more than happy to help you start a little brawl, if I can eat at the same time.” She shook her hair and saw Ruby’s entrancing smile stab into her dead heart. “You're better than I have ever heard. I’ll bring my coffin to the ship after this.” She ughed. “I hope you don’t mind that I will work at night, Captain.”

“Not at all, Miss Gweyir.” Ruby rubbed her chin “I think we should call you ‘fangs’ on board, it’s simple and the guys won’t be surprised if you bite them.” She wiggled her finger. “Don’t kill any of them, if you please.”

“Not a one, Captain Ruby.” Gweyir smiled, “She’s got a show in about a half an hour. Most of the other captains pnned to try and abduct your target shortly afterward.” She raised one of her eyebrows. “I could easily charm them all, much like you could…” She noticed the gleam in Ruby’s eye. “...I suspect you have another pn.”

“There’s only one captain that I am going to cross with, the others aren’t a problem.” Ruby strapped on her cutss and moved Nerice around as she did so. “He’s here Ner-Ner.”

Nerice ughed, “You are so predictable. I thought you wanted to kill him at sea, I mean you sacrificed the Dancing Dagger to get Delzie back.” Nerice started ughing in earnest. “Oh..this is great.” Nerice hopped off of Ruby and climbed onto her charmed vampire. “We have another pn…see this is why I love that woman. Let her handle the captains, we have another job now.”

“I can’t wait.” Gweyir chimed and headed outside. “I need a little blood for good measure…Neri-”

  “Call me Natasha out here.”
