The Great Farm shuddered as it was wrested from its place in the Greater Circle of Sloth. The entire realm shifted through space, torn out of the Hells and into Jonathan’s private domain. By far the largest addition, the Great Farm slammed down next to the Labyrinth, continuing a spiral of increasing size around the central realm of the Ash Heaps.
With the removal of the realm from the Hells, and the rule of the Great Farmer, the temporary ascension of the monsters there ended. Stripped of their power, the demons returned to their previous states, no longer infused with the potency of a Circle Lord.
With the recently trained soldiers, fresh from the plains of Tartarus, the realm was in good shape to deal with such creatures. Soon, the Great Farm would be fully integrated, and peace would come to the fifth circle of the Infinite Hells.
In the Great Circle of Sloth, now greatly diminished, Jonathan emerged into an unfamiliar wasteland. Eliza was waiting there, her face and clothes flecked with blood. Her sword was poised midair, as if in the middle of skewering something. Judging by the height the weapon was off the ground, she had driven it through someone’s neck.
“You did it, then,” Eliza said, sheathing her sword with a slight flick to clear the blood off. “The Great Farmer is dead.”
“He is.” Jonathan raised Kharon. “And I got a new weapon for it. I’m not sure how I feel about it.”
“You should be honored by my choice in you as my wielder,” Kharon hissed.
“Right,” Jonathan continued. “It talks.”
Eliza raised an eyebrow. “Never heard of a talking weapon before.”
“Neither had I. But here one is.” Jonathan gave the scythe a twirl.
He felt a strange sense of disapproval in his mind from the weapon, but given that Kharon didn’t speak, he ignored it. For now, it was in his best interest to keep the weapon, as long as it didn’t act against him in any way. He had read quite a lot of fictional accounts of sentient weapons turning on their wielders, or driving them to evil. He had to admit, the black obsidian scythe certainly looked like the sort of weapon that would do such a thing.

He quickly placed it on his back, strapping it into place with a convenient buckle on his armor. Then he frowned, realizing that the buckle in question hadn’t been there before. Instead, Kharon had extended two loops of stone out to grab onto the back of his armor.
A self satisfied chuckle came from the weapon, ringing through his mind. “There’s a lot more that I can do that you don’t know about. The Great Farmer never made the most of me, although he did only have possession of me for about a year.”
“I could swear I heard a whisper coming from that scythe,” Eliza said, shuddering slightly. “Do you know what it can do? Did you analyze it?”
Jonathan paused. “I haven’t. I probably should have, though.” A System screen popped up as he used his scanning ability. It had an incredibly long description.
