CHAPTER 3

Dear Diary, I’m OverpoweredEntry #3 – Age 3 – “The Leaf, The Rage, and Takeshi the Show-Off”Date: Year 3 – Day 33(I think I’ve finally figured out their months, but I’m sticking with my own for now.)

  Dear Diary,

  Today I learned something important.

Huge chakra reserves = major pain in the butt. Why? Because I can’t even stick a dumb leaf to my forehead.

Let me expin. After the paper-wetting disaster (aka the Element Test), my dad said it was time I started learning “basic chakra control.” Sounded easy. I mean, how hard can it be to stick stuff with invisible energy?

  Spoiler alert: very.

So, Dad gave me this leaf—just a boring, regur leaf from our backyard—and told me to sit still, channel my chakra to my forehead, and make the leaf stick.

  Simple, right?

Wrong.Every time I tried, the leaf flew off like it owed me money.

First attempt? Leaf caught fire.Second attempt? I accidentally waterlogged it.Third attempt? My chakra spiked and unched it across the river. I think I hit a duck.

Meanwhile—guess who shows up, arms crossed, smirking like a smug little volcano?

  Takeshi.Yeah, that cousin.

Mr. “I have two elemental affinities” decided to train with me today. Not because he likes me. Nooo. Because he heard I was “struggling” and wanted to “help.”

Let me tell you what his “help” looked like:

“No, Asta. You're fring too much chakra.”“You’re not focusing. Try feeling the flow, not forcing it.”“Why is the leaf bubbling?”

THE LEAF IS BUBBLING BECAUSE I’M TRYING, TAKESHI.

But in all honesty…I kinda needed him there.

Watching him actually make the leaf float and stay, calm and steady, made me realize something:This is what Noelle went through. Back when she couldn’t control her magic, when everything blew up around her. She used to yell and cry and break things, and I never really got it—because I had no magic to control in the first pce.But now?Now I feel it.This wild, raw energy that wants to burst out the moment I breathe wrong. My chakra’s like a tidal wave. Unfocused. Loud. Like me, honestly.

So yeah, Noelle…If you’re out there in another world or something? I get it now.Control’s the real fight.

  Anyway, back to Takeshi.

He tried to show off by doing this cool double-leaf trick—one on the forehead, one on his palm. And guess what?

He sneezed. Both leaves caught fire.Tree behind him? Torched. We both had to run home screaming while the river spirits freaked out.(Takeshi said they were “chakra imprints from the nd.” I think they were just angry bubbles.)

But even after all that, when I was sitting alone under the tree, soaked in pond water and mosquito bites, something clicked.

I remembered how I used to train back then—push-ups till I passed out, yelling into the sky, hitting trees with swords three times my size. And I realized… this is no different. It’s just a new kind of muscle to train.

So tomorrow, I’m doing it again.

  Leaf-on-the-forehead, round two.Me vs. chakra.No holding back.

Also, note to self: Stop trying to bite the leaf when it falls. That’s not helping.

End of EntryAsta drew a comic strip of himself chasing a fming leaf while Takeshi runs in the background, yelling “IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO BURN!”The final panel shows Asta decring war on a tree.
