Chapter 11

Alright, my mob friend's shift ended without a hitch.

  Nothing happened after that... Really.

Well, we did talk some other stuff that I can't bother to expin like how rocks beat scissors but that's about it.

  Yeah, don't mind me...

Anyways, it's now the Private's turn for his shift!!

You know, I can't really get used to "private," should I revert it back to new recruit? How about just recruit?

Hmm, this is very hard indeed. Never knew I would be this troubled trying to find a nickname for a gossip(?) mob.

"Yawn, why the heck are we doing this stupid shift?" The one that said such things was our new recruit.

Yeah, 1 chapter of trial and error, I've come to conclude that his name should've and always would've been new recruit.

  Anyways...

"Are you perhaps a bipor person?" I asked with a serious expression on my face, at least I hope so.

"What kind of question is that?" He replied with a weird look on his face.

"You know, those guys who makes their outside appearance look like they are innocent, but deep inside they would be someone that would curse at any given minute."

To this rhetorical expnation, he gave a "???" Face.

"And what gives you that impression?" He asked. Oh come on, why are you keep asking?

"Well, it's because of our first meeting. At first, I thought you were some righteous and respectful person, like you did those 90° bow and such. Then, immediately after that, you suddenly shifted your attitude 180°, making a semi circle," I expined, adding a little bit of jokes behind it.

After that, he gave a "I did that?" Kind of face. Bro, you're so expressive that I might even mistake you as one of the main protagonists or something.

"Well, I give the same treatment I get to those of others. First impression is a good thing after all."

He's right, first impression is the best impression. Damn, he's good. As expected of the one I personally scouted.

"Anyways, I thought you were an anti social, why are you pretty talkative anyways?"

Mmm, he does have a fair point. Why am I pretty talkative towards him?

Was it because I'm a night owl? No, that can't be it.

Is it because I got used to my mob friend? Might be, but too far fetch.

  Then, could it be?...

Nah something like that would pretty much be in the zeros.

So, without a conclusion in mind, I just went with the flow and get honest with my mind.

"Nah, jit I ain't know nothin about that my homie," IT WAS A LATE REACTION WHAT THE F******

I mean, there's nothing wrong talking that way but the fact that that's not how I usually talk and that's my defence mechanism towards a socially awkward moment bothers me.

He then gave me a weird look saying "Why am I friends with this guy?"

Hah, I prefer I more stoic mob to hang out with. Mob friend, you truly are a considerate friend.

"There are some very promising youngsters this year huh?" A somewhat mature woman with gsses said.

"Well, they are indeed out of proportions today," another one muttered, a skinny guy with a white coat.

Right now, they are at a dimly lit room full of suspicious things, and some very suspicious people...

"Why are we talking in such darkness? Where's the switch?" Another voice muttered, might even be childish girlish voice.

"The electricity bill is too much, this hologram already costs too much credits, I don't want to waste money on needles things," the skinny guy said with every tint of seriousness you could find in the bck market.

Well, in truth, he's just a frugal guy.

"Oh stop it Jack, I could cover some expenses too," the woman said, whilst switching the lights on.

"I appreciate the sentiment but- ARGGHHH MY EYESSSSSS ITTT HURRRTTTTTSSS!!!"

"Ahh, Finally, I could see you guys."

”Don't mind Jack, he's been like this since he lost a lot of money to the casino."

"I understand that El," the childish girl replied.

In truth, this is the viewing room to spectate the 3 days event of the students.

Since the students teleported to the forest, they need some kind of precaution in case of a sudden variable appearing.

"Anyways, what was the topic again?" El muttered. "Ahh, right, the promising students."

"Reinhardt and Elise's performance Vs those 4 groups were entertaining and insightful too, I definitely want to take them under my wing," Jack Said after finding a pair of sungsses.

"Eris managing to control an entire area only with her fire magic is also quite notable," El replied.

"And that duel between Cude and Lloyd!! That was a bst! I thought that fight was between 2 evenly matched heroes for a moment!" Jack again excimed, hinting a bit of his passion towards... Fighting I guess.

"He is a rank 1 for a reason," the girl muttered.

The reason why they are discussing these confrontations is not because they were solely interesting. It's because this viewing room is not only for the teachers, but also for factions that would scout those students.

Only reason why they are not here right now is because it's te at night.

"Oh yeah, there was one fight that caught my interest," the girl said, getting the interest of the other two. "Someone fell from the giant tree trying to take out their opponent."

"Wait, the same 500 meters tree?" Jack asked, seemingly fbbergasted.

El was also pretty shocked about this information. She didn't catch this while the whole battlefield was happening. It's impressive, for a student.

"That's not all, her background was... another thing," she continued, her voice going lower and lower with each passing words.

Seeing this sight, the both of them got serious.

"What was her background," Jack asked, tense.

  "Remember the northern region?"

  "Yeah?"

"10 years ago, a rumour around that region was going around saying a devil's child was born?"

"What are you talking about..." He trailed off.

"The rumour that stated that a child with godlike potential was born there right?" El intervines.

  "Yes," she replied.

"But it was just a propaganda if I remember correctly, to boost the morale of that region, since it was the most forefront battlefield against the demon king after all," Jack countered, finally remembering the details about it.

"No it wasn't," she shook her head. "That rumour is true, that much I'm sure off."

"What are you implying?" El asked, frowning a little bit.

The girl then went to the table and pulled out one of the files in there.

"What I'm implying is this," she presented it to the both of them. "If my investigations are correct, the rumoured girl and the girl who fell off the tree were the same beings."

The whole room suddenly got quiet.

"Wait a minute, isn't that a good thing? Why are we talking about this as if it's a problem?" After seconds of contemption, Jack excimed with confusion.

"There was a reason why she was called the devil's child Jack," El murmured, holding her head as if she's having a headache just listening to him.

"Oh yeah, there was that... I forgot about it... Ha ha ha ha..." Jack realised the gravity of the situation, and got silent all over again.

"Hah, anyways, we can't do anything towards her since she's protected by the school. Best course of action is to leave her alone and pray she wouldn't do anything bad," El said, finishing the subject.

"I guess no used mulling over this," the girl mulled too.

Silence engulfed the room yet again.

Even if there are no discussion, a silent agreement formed. That is, no one will leak this information outside the room.

That's just how shocking her enrollment was.

"Anyways, just to lighten up the mood, the principal made a recommendation letter towards one of the students in this academy, I don't know who the lucky bastard it was though," Jack excimed, switching the topic.
