(Larry Yo-Boy’s Bi-Prism News)
A news tracker crossed the screen in large bold lettering in front of an otherwise concerned Larry. His suit was once again back to its impeccable standards of crisp lines, he had clearly shaven and taken a moment to freshen up from his cast earlier.
The reason for his well-groomed appearance was scrolling across the screen in front of him. History was in the making, and he knew that this reel would be used to describe what happened for years to come. At least it could be used.
“So, in case you missed it, lords knows I did, but apparently there is a thing called a Congress and they have a budget, and that budget affects things.” Larry began, his words cut short as he tried to clearly reign in the anger and frustration that was evident on his face.
“In a last-minute budget cut, aided by Evil Corp,” Larry began, then turned off screen to get clarification. “I can say Evil Corp, I mean that isn’t their name, but we all know who they are. In case you were wondering this was the group with the red logo,” he continued, but then paused to check, “we still good?”
Nodding to someone apparently answering him off camera he continued, “yes, I can say Evil Corp, as that is not the company’s true name, nor is red too revealing of a symbol, any inferences from those descriptions are up to the viewer. But yes, Evil Corp just did some sneaky
There was an eight second delay as Larry continued to talk but his words were cut to preserve FCC compliance standards.
“What did they do?” Larry begins, but then looks distracted as he nods, “well allegedly, they were behind the recent vote to cut funding to our beloved retirement venues. Yes, funding hasn’t been cut entirely, and there were talks of the twelve years, but that was apparently changed. Instead, it was just a straight 60% funding cut, with downsizing of servers and retirement packages being offered.”
There was a pause as Larry let that comment first sink in, then he continued.
“Basically, only the servers that are the most profitable on their own will be able to stand and those that are most profitable will receive the remaining 40% of the funding. There are talks of downsizing the servers, letting everyone transfer over. Right now, there is a TRO, a Temporary Restraining Order in effect, I had to look this up myself. Apparently, it is just a legal injunction that will keep funds going to these servers while the litigation around the ethics of this activity are judged. I mean we are talking about killing off grandma and grandpa after all. Yes, they say that transfers are possible, but it will require a complete restart from level 1 and all attributes reset to their base ratings.”
With those streaming comments began pouring across the screen, seeing them Larry shook his head and spoke. “Yes, I agree Limearilla, this is garbage. Good point, IntanlyXXXdiscordian, to answer your question what I am reading is that those that are in the process of being uploaded to servers will proceed as normal. There are also well-known servers that are off the list, however it seems that Steampunk has taken a massive nosedive, especially since the Redding Foundation suddenly withdrew their funding. And no, it is just a coincidence that the Redding Foundation has a red logo and are considered Evil and are not in any way associated with my earlier comments.”
It was clear that Larry was still livid about what was happening, as more and more news clips came along.
“Alright, this is the last nugget that we are getting. While future uploads are mostly stopped to different servers, it appears that there is still a ‘Hot List’ that will be able to accept uploads. These are the ones that all of the big add agencies have suddenly put all their funding and marketing towards, including the Redding Foundation among others. I guess they are just ahead of the curve on this, and not in any way associated with… Okay, okay, I’ll stop.”
With that Larry did stop, for a span of two heartbeats, before continuing his thought, “just an odd coincidence.”
With that Larry could be seen nodding his head, before raising his hand up in a halting gesture.
“All right, we are back to why we are all here, what actually happened inside the world of BiPrism today. Well, let us begin with Dr. Spiritlight, she managed to level up, and somehow gain an additional four Simulacrum. Two seemed to spawn in the Arcanarus Tower, while two more appeared on Midnight Hunter territory, which was oddly convenient. And not, I am not talking about those completely unfounded rumors about Dr. Spiritlight being groomed to take over as an administrator, which would be needed with all the budget cuts…”
“Instead, I will just show you what her friends did.”
With that the scene changed to show everyone battling, there was even a close up of Rune-Ulacrum speaking, “and there is proof, sad that the act had to end somewhere, but this was not the time to remain quiet.”
Then the scene finally cut to show Charlaine’s mangled body slowly piecing itself together in the scorching desert sands, while a wild dog runs away.
“In case you are wondering, the path that Kujo is taking is west, the exact opposite direction of the Midnight Hunter’s territory. Either he is trying to divert Charlaine away from his home, or he is trying to avoid paying child support for all those pups he has currently and on the way.”
Silence.
“What? That was funny,” Larry exclaimed clearly talking to the person off camera. There was a few more moments, before Larry just shrugged and nodded.
“All right, I apparently have to send you off to the sponsors, while we have them at least, and a job.”
With that Larry stood still smiling, as the lights went dark, that’s when you could hear a still hot mic pick up Larry cursing about a certain company, fortunately the mic was dropped before any mentions of the company were made.
