Hey everyone,
Lucent Steele here with a quick State of the Book update, and a look at what’s coming next for The Ascension Framework series.
I’ve just passed the 130,000-word mark, and I’m currently writing Chapter 62. That puts us well into the final third of Book 1. I’ve started building out two lists: one of narrative threads to resolve by the end of this book, and another of arcs and ideas that will carry into Book 2.
No spoilers here, but the tension is rising across every front—Grimwatch, the real world, and beyond. The plan is to roll straight from the end of Book 1 into the next volume with no major delays.
Where Things Stand
- 44 chapters are currently live on this platform.
- Patreon readers are already 5+ chapters ahead.
- Book 1 is projected to wrap up around Chapter 90.
- Once complete, the full manuscript will be revised and published to Kindle Unlimited.
The publishing date will be announced when it’s ready. At that point, all but the opening seven or eight chapters will be removed from Royal Road. (Sorry—those are the rules…)
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
As for an audiobook—it’s on my radar. Depending on reader interest and Book 1’s performance, I may commission a narrator once Book 2 is complete.
Book 2 Title Reveal
Without further delay, I’m excited to reveal the title of the next book in The Ascension Framework series:
Liminal Dawn
Not fully awakened. Not entirely safe. Not yet ready. Time is running short, but Earth is preparing.
This title captures the fragile, transitory state of Earth at the time. The System is coming online. Eyes are watching.
Looking Ahead
The Ascension Framework is envisioned as a long-form saga, likely spanning eight to ten books. While Book 1 focuses on the initial spark—the rise of the System—future volumes will explore its global (and eventually cosmic) impact as Earth races to prove its worth.
