Chapter 1187 The Dance of Illusions: A Confrontation Between Fitran and Tamamo-no-Mae

After Otakemaru vanished into the cosmic storm, the spiral world resumed its eternal dance. The arena transformed slowly, metallic rocks thinning into a fluid mirror floor, the starlight dimming, and a hint of sakura blossoms wafting through the air. The spiral sky split with a blush of pink, as if spring had descended upon a field of ruin.

From behind the thin mist, a silhouette of a woman stepped forward. Golden hair cascaded down her shoulders, a sheer white silk gown clung gently to her form, and nine ethereal tails swayed gracefully behind her. Her beauty was unmatched: too exquisite, too perfect, as if her very presence turned the space around her into a vivid dream.

Fox-like eyes, a subtle smile, and a gaze that seemed capable of pulling anyone into the depths of their own dreams.

"Pause for a moment, traveler. What strength lies within you as this world spins us to the brink of darkness?"

"Ah, but beauty can blind, can't it? What is it you seek, Tamamo?"

Tamamo-no-Mae. The Queen of the Nine-Tailed Foxes. The sovereign of illusions, soul magic, and curses.

Fitran stood in the center of the spiral mirror, his body still smeared with wounds, Voidlight dripping astral blood onto the surface of the illusion.

Tamamo-no-Mae paused nearby, bowing her head slightly, her melodious voice flowing like an ancient song,

“Welcome, spiral wanderer. Are you weary of dueling in the rough arena of men? Would you prefer to converse first, or shall we dance within this dream?”

“Dreams are never free, Queen. Every step carries its consequences,” Fitran replied coldly, his eyes burning with a fierce defiance.

“True, yet consequences are often concealed beneath layers of hope,” Tamamo countered, her voice casting a magical resonance that evoked a sense of regret.

Fitran narrowed his eyes, his tone flat yet guarded,

“If your aim is to make me comfortable, you failed by your second sentence. I did not come seeking entertainment, fox.”

“Ah, but discomfort is a window to deeper understanding. Do you not wish to grasp what lies hidden behind this glass?”

“Perhaps, but I am no one to be ensnared by illusion. The truth is often more painful.”

Tamamo-no-Mae smiled gently, her nine tails swirling around her like a veil.

“I never promised entertainment. Only possibilities… and choices you wouldn't have found in your previous duel.”

“Possibilities? Just an illusion that traps us in the same cycle.”

Fitran took a step forward, causing ripples on the surface of the mirror, “Possibilities? All spiral fields have only two outcomes: destruction, or being destroyed.”

“Don't you understand, Fitran? Destruction can be the beginning of something new.” Tamamo-no-Mae moved closer, each step resembling a dance, her voice lowering, “Ah, Fitran Fate. Your name is echoed in countless legends—rebel, traitor, even hero in a world weary of inscribing its own history. But, are you sure your name still remains untouched, after navigating so many illusions of this world?”

“History is the most beautiful illusion, Tamamo. Where every wound waits to forge a new hero.”

Fitran held back a smile, his tone shifting to something manipulative, “I've lost many things, but I’ve never lost my own voice. You know, Tamamo, they say you are the queen of illusions. But every illusion is born from something meant to be hidden. What are you concealing today?”

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“Concealing? Or offering? We all dance at the edge of the abyss, don’t we? And sometimes, it’s better to let those fragments remain buried deep.”

Tamamo-no-Mae spun gracefully, her gown shimmering in pastel hues, “Perhaps I just want to speak with the last person worthy of being heard before this spiral ends. Maybe I want to demonstrate that even the war god Suzuka could be a puppet in my grasp if I wished it. Or… perhaps I simply wish to know how many wounds can be transformed into strength before your own will swallows you whole.”

“The strength born from wounds often swims against the tide of regret. Are you brave enough to forge meaning amid that emptiness?”

Tamamo-no-Mae laughed softly, “Meaning? Or merely a game on a chessboard where we are two pieces perpetually targeting each other? Where do we truly stand?”

Fitran moved closer, his voice low yet charged with intensity, “You are the queen of intrigue. Every one of your spheres is a psychological battlefield. Yet, I’ve never feared becoming a tool for entities that shudder at their true forms.”

“Because here, suspended between shadows and reality, I have unearthed my strength. Witness this clash—who truly holds power? One soul, or thousands of illusions?”

Tamamo-no-Mae halted, her nine tails curling forward, creating a circle of protection around them.

“My true form embodies all your desires, Fitran. Isn’t that frightening—or perhaps enticing? Don’t you feel drawn to the darkness that envelops me?”

“Every desire is an uninvited guest. But why must we remain shackled by the shadows of fear? Perhaps we need more than mere form—perhaps clarity amidst the darkness.”

Fitran smirked slightly, “Desire seldom tempts a spiraling traveler. We traverse because we no longer trust in the realm of possibilities. We endure precisely because all illusions fail to provide solace.”

“But do you realize, Fitran? A person meandering without hope is like a kite torn from its string, drifting aimlessly, and in all those possibilities, I might just be closer to the truth.”

The space transformed. Tamamo-no-Mae lifted one hand, the spiral mirror shattered, creating thousands of reflections of Fitran in every direction. Each one echoed a choice he never made: a young Fitran with family, an old Fitran embracing a lover, a solitary Fitran standing in a world he had set ablaze.

“Can you feel the weight of each shadow? Are you brave enough to ask yourself which is more real? The me before you, or all those versions of yourself you've left behind?”

Tamamo-no-Mae whispered, “If all your choices are wrong, what do you seek at the end of the spiral, Fitran?”

“I seek a challenger who isn't merely hiding behind a pretty face and empty words. If you want to play with souls, Tamamo, step deeper inside. But remember, sometimes darkness is not just an enemy; it can also be a lost friend.” Fitran answer.

Fitran averted his gaze to the flickering mirror, his inner voice whispering, “Is there anything left within me? Or will I forever grapple with the monster I’ve fought all this time? Courage resides in our hands, even if it means conjuring the very beast that will burn away all illusions.”

Tamamo-no-Mae stepped closer, her voice trembling softly, “Very well. Then… let’s unveil our masks. Today, you will discover: in this endless spiral, victory is merely a new form of curse.”

“But who truly emerges victorious in a world that constantly distorts reality?” Fitran replied, his gaze sharp. “Are we merely pawns in a game far greater than ourselves?”

The field transformed into a labyrinth of illusions, every corner a memory and a possibility, nine tails of kitsune danced between reality and dream. “Remember, Fitran,” Tamamo called out, as if sensing the doubt that lingered within him. “Reality is but a facade, and often, illusions can feel more tangible than life itself.”

Fitran moved forward, unshadowed—prepared to fight not just with strength, but also with the very essence of his soul. “You speak as if you hold all the answers, but what is the worth of knowledge if it only leads to deeper confusion?”
