60 - Void - Bonnie

  Hey Diary,

Ok. I finally got the rhodonite all carved. I double-checked the runes, and it looks good.

I’m alone in my room, so it should be safe to activate. I won't try any spells in the city; I just want to make sure it works.

I’m kinda nervous. Which is why I decided to write in here before activating it. But I’ve got this.

  Ok. Here I go.

  Signing off,

  .

The Watcher took her job very seriously. As such, she made sure to take regular breaks to avoid burnout.

She lost a third game of solitaire, set the cards on fire, and pulled up the notification that had been trying to get her attention for the past ten minutes.

It was, in fact, a whole list of them.

Bonnie shot to her feet, panicking. She yoinked that soul into the Void and put it in an anti-magic box. And then she put that box inside another anti-magic box. She debated a third box, but decided that would be overkill.

Extremely nervously, the Goddess checked the identity of the person she had in the Void.

“Cali?” Bonnie asked herself, and checked visually.

Sure enough, the cute little catgirl was standing in the clear box, clutching her tail. Bonnie teleported herself down, cautiously edging towards her.

Cali saw her, and her ears flattened. “I’m… in a lot of trouble, aren't I?”

“Yes,” Bonnie said. “Yes you are.”

  “Ok.” She sniffled, seeming resigned.

Bonnie still didn't let her guard down. “First, though, you’re gonna tell me what you did and how you did it.”

“I didn't do anything!” Cali said, dropping her tail. “I haven't cast any spells yet! I just wanted to activate the runes and see if it works, but they kinda burned-”

  “What runes?”

“These!” The neko held a big pink stone out; it had a cord tied around it, making it into a necklace. The runes carved on the stone were black as coal.

Bonnie squinted, trying to read them. “Increase… Ten… Times… Hundred… Perma-” She stopped, eyes going wide as she stared at the teenager. “What was that you said about burning?”

Cali gulped, pulling her tail around. “When I activated the stone, it burned the runes into my tail. It hurt.” She parted the fur, showing a fresh scar.

Being the calm, collected person that she was, Bonnie didn't scream or run away. Instead, she nodded slowly. “Right. Rightrightright. Tell me, where did you find that stone?”

“A priest gave it to me,” Cali answered.

Well, that priest was now fired. “He carved it?”

  “No, I did.”

“Right, right, sure. Where did you find the runes?”

  “In… Luke’s book.”

  Bonnie frowned. “Luke’s book?”

“Yeah, he has a book of runes, and I didn't want to bother him, so I copied the runes from his book to mine, then carved them onto the gem,” Cali explained quickly.

“Sure, right, right.” Bonnie snapped her fingers, summoning Luke’s father into the Void.

Calvin appeared and nearly fell over. He looked around quickly, straightened up, and opened his mouth to ask a question.

Bonnie pointed at him. “You have ten minutes to figure out a way of fixing this before I wipe your memory and cut her tail off.” She summoned a giant clock, and teleported herself to her office to watch.
