Book 7 chapter 1e

The two charged and she prepped her shoulder for a crash with the beast, when Javier reached out and using the woman’s own momentum fell backwards and flung the woman into the two men who were rushing at him from the opposite side. The woman crashed into both men, sending them all sprawling into the snow in a tangled heap of legs and arms.

Javier didn’t waste any time but ran up and gripped one guy’s head and twisted till he heard his neck snap. The other two were getting back on their feet. He threw a punch at each of their temples, knocking them out cold.

Hysminai gripped a tree trunk and scrambled up the tree. Soter was holding off two of the Northmen and they needed an advantage. He had a large gash running along his thigh. The woodman’s axes were crude but sharp. He looked down and dove almost straight down. He caught one of the Northman and plowed him deep into the snow. He punched down hard but the Northman had a good defense and Hysminai’s claws couldn’t get a good hold or a good punch in. He leaned heavily on the human and tried to find an opening, punching the human relentlessly.

Soter took the opportunity that the distraction gave him by gripping the human’s throat. The Northman smiled at the wolf and kicked out with his feet. His feet caught Soter in the lower abdomen and his crotch. The intense pain of the attack made him drop the human and he gasped in pain, turning around and trying to make it stop, he knelt down in the snow, holding himself.

He felt powerful arms wrap around his neck. He had the wherewithal to flex his neck muscles. He was in pain but he wouldn’t let a human kill him. He was better than any human. But try as he might, he couldn’t shake the human from his neck and he started to feel dizzy with lack of oxygen. He struggled and swung back and forth, trying to fling the human off him. But it was no use, the arms were locked upon his neck like a vise and his vision soon blurred. He tried to breathe, to fill his lungs, but he wasn’t getting any air. He felt his body become more sluggish, heavier. It was so hard to stay awake. He just wanted to make it stop, but his eyes were closing all by themselves.

Michelle was being tossed to the ground. She was not having an easy time with this guy. He has shrugged off her blows and he was pretty much manhandling her. He moved with an inhuman speed over the snow and punched her rapidly in the gut and then the snout and then the gut, once, twice, three times. She couldn’t keep track and she found herself laying back on the snow. The guy jumped on top of her and gripped her snout.

Michelle squealed in pain and somehow was able to kick the guy off her. She breathed heavy deep gasps, knowing that she had almost been seriously hurt, if not killed. She turned around and found the guy charging at her again. She pressed herself into the Whyte Plain.

She breathed deeply with her hands on her knees. Oh god, she had almost, he had almost… Yeah, but he didn’t. Pull yourself together Michelle! Your pack needs you! She took a moment to breathe and moved a few steps away from where she had been, before pushing herself back into the real world.

She glanced back to see the guy dig through the snow looking for her. She smiled a bit and surveyed the battlefield. She pressed herself into the Whyte Plain and ran a few steps before pushing herself back into this reality.

She crashed into and ripped the guy’s arm off that had put Soter into the sleeper hold. Soter was lying face down on the snow. She didn’t have time to check on him. She tossed aside the wrecked limb and slashed at the guy’s neck. The human gripped his neck with his hand and fell to his knees. The light faded quickly from his eyes as he died from blood loss and shock.

She went to Soter and felt at the werewolf’s neck. He was alive and breathing, that was good. “Soter!” she yelled shaking him roughly, “Soter, get up now!”

Hysminai grabbed both arms of the guy he was fighting and he drove his wolf’s head down onto the forehead of the human. The human stuttered and blinked hard. Hysminai let his head fall again and again, driving his head into the human’s, crushing the man’s skull.

He stood up and saw Michelle trying to wake Soter. He went to his pack mate and fellow wolf born and bit him hard on the arm.

Soter woke up suddenly with a gasp. He looked up to see his pack mates standing over him. He stood up and nodded his thanks to both of them. They turned their backs to one another and found their next targets.

Keva fly tackled the man with the woodcutter’s axe. The attack caught the man by surprise, but it didn’t stun him nearly as much as Keva would have liked. He fell backwards into the snow but he raised the axe and brought it down solidly onto Keva’s back.

She howled in pain and reared up violently, ripping the axe from the man’s hands leaving it embedded in her back. She swiped at the guy with both her claws but the man was an experienced fighter and he was able to block almost all her blows. She tried to pull the axe from her back but before she could try to reach it, the guy kicked her off him and she landed on her back in the snow, driving the axe deeper into her flesh. She whined in pain and was barely able to roll on to her stomach.

Suddenly the icy hot pain of electricity ripped through her body as the axe was removed and almost instantly plunged deep into her side. She howled again, and the axe was ripped from her body. She rolled over and would have been axed in the face had she not raised her claws at the last minute.

She was tired already. Her wounds were deep and they seared against her mind. The pain was so intense that she couldn’t move much. All she could think about and smell was that of her own blood pouring into the snow around her.
