Chapter 668: Flame Divinity

Tianyi stared. It was not that he had never seen her smile, though large ones she bore were incredibly rare. He had still seen them, but this smile just felt different to him. Perhaps it was the subtle radiance in her eyes. Or maybe the slight breathlessness of excitement that came from finishing the concert. It could also be a combination of countless factors, even ones that he only subconsciously perceived.

Despite having never done it after their first hundreds of years of marriage, Tianyi blushed. He was like a young boy experiencing a crush for the first time once more.

Luckily, with a swift thought, the blush receded. His body, after all, wasn’t a true body of flesh and blood. All his humanlike reactions were his subconscious manipulation of the conduit. Even still, he did not have a beating heart messing up his fine controls.

Hopefully, Daoyi was too excited to notice. And indeed, she was.

Tianyi coughed into his fist to hide any abnormalities and held his chin between his thumb and index finger. “Alright, how about in a century?”

A century would give him enough time to prepare for all the goodies. After people revealed what they had gotten and the experience, he was sure that many more would try to get a ticket.

Daoyi shook her head. Her breathing slowed as it returned to normal. Although her body was still of flesh and blood, it was different from the mortal conception of flesh and blood, so she did not need to sweat or even breathe. Like Tianyi, those actions were all subconsciously generated as habits from their mortal days. “I want to do one every five years.”

Tianyi nearly blanched. He had gotten everything ready in one year, but if he had continuously prepared for a concert every five years, it would have taken up too much time and left him little time to do anything else. Even one of his casual comprehension sessions could take years nowadays.

He wondered if Daoyi had reverted to her sense of time before ascending to the Immortal Realm.

“I didn’t mean a concert of the same scale,” Daoyi said, realizing how her words could have been taken. “I meant I want to travel the Primordial Realm and do a tour. The schedule will be kept secret, and the goodies don’t need to be as expensive; just regular souvenirs will be fine. I want real fans to hear my music and not those who want to make a profit.”

Tianyi nodded and sighed in relief. Although he was puzzled by Daoyi’s sudden interest in concerts, he didn’t think it was strange. Many immortals found interests or hobbies outside of cultivating to keep them occupied. Many immortal officials who had gained eternal life had made such interests their goal, like the Kitchen God.

He pulled his eyes away from Daoyi, who had returned to her tranquil expression, but even so, Tianyi felt that Daoyi had become more dazzling, like a star shining in the sky. Speaking of the sky, Tianyi stared upward, his vision piercing the dimensional boundary of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System. It would take a little over three thousand years for the Spacetime System to arrive. More than enough time for him to settle everything before he began his plan.

Seeing that Tianyi was lost in thought again, Daoyi hooked her arm around his elbow and pulled. “Come on, there’s the after-party. Yan Nie and the others are already waiting.”

Tianyi nodded. He walked arm-in-arm with his wife to the private hall he had prepared ahead of time. It wasn’t the largest or most extravagant. In fact, it was rather simple, but at his level, if he wanted extravagance, it would have cost far too much—especially since he only had a year to build the venue.

“Daoyi, Tianyi!” Yan Nie welcomed, holding up a glass of wine. “I thought you two had gotten lost, and we would have to enjoy the food without you.”

His wife, Yun Xialan, smiled and greeted the divine couple. Unlike the last days of Gan Xuehua, the after-party included non-reincarnators and all the performers. Though, unlike concerts on Earth, many of the performers stared at their specially invited guests with awe.

The Eighteen Flower Fairies had declined the invitation, knowing that men were present, but the others happily attended. Aside from the Eighteen Flower Fairies and one other group, the other guests Daoyi invited were not members of the Heavenly Immortal Court, so this was a rare occasion for them to create connections.

Next to him, the musician Daoyi had invited and performed with on the third day stood deferentially. Although he was a true immortal, he had very little combat power and was known more for his art. Most transcending mortality saints would not be able to defeat him, but the most heaven-defying saints were another story. It was only natural considering Yan Nie’s current status.

“How can that be?” Tianyi said. “Even if we miss everything in the world, we dare not slight the Divine Flame Sovereign. No, it should be the Flame Divinity.”

Perhaps touched by Gan Xuehua’s death, Yan Nie finally took the last step and created his divine world, becoming a divinity. His ascension could not be hidden, just as the overlapping phenomenon in the sky appeared for days. It was like when Sovereign Yanxu became a divinity through the forbidden technique. Cultivators who majored in the Law of Fire would gain massive boosts when comprehending the law. It wasn’t only those seeking to comprehend the entire Law of Fire, but also the monarchs and emperors who sought to merge the five elemental qis or merge other worldly laws with the Law of Fire. Even if they did not major in the Law of Fire, they would find it easier to fuse it with their primary law.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Yan Nie rolled his eyes. “You know, I was very excited about constructing my divine world and becoming a divinity, but when I think about you, I can only consider myself ordinary.”

He turned his gaze toward Daoyi. “Now that I’ve constructed a divine world, I can sense yours as well, and the fluctuation is even greater than mine. I thought I had finally defeated at least one of you two, but my excitement was for nothing.”

As for why he did not see the phenomenon cover the entire Three Thousand Immortal Realms System like what happened when he formed his divine world of five, he suspected that Daoyi had achieved that last step in another system.

The musician opened his eyes as if hearing some great secret. He sent furtive glances toward Tianyi and Daoyi, wondering if the two would silence him.

Neither Tianyi nor Daoyi paid it any mind. The two simply didn’t care to announce it.

The three shared a laugh. Daoyi turned toward the musician and started a conversation, but he was exceptionally reserved.

Before, the musician thought Daoyi was an immortal sovereign, so even though the power between them was greater than that of an ordinary mortal and a transcending mortality saint, the two could still hold a relatively equal conversation due to their shared skills. However, the musician dared not converse so brazenly with a divinity. All his words were almost deferential, with no discussion or exchange about music. Even if Daoyi said the zither was a woodwind instrument, he would nod in a hundred percent agreement.

This killed Daoyi’s interest, and she disengaged from the conversation with the musician and rejoined the group.

“I say, can you two not boast in front of me? I slaved away for hundreds of thousands of years, but all the merit I accumulated is only enough for me to become a merit emperor,” Xi Ri said with an almost tired sigh. “Even though I worked tirelessly for merits, even traveling to other realms and leaving behind many legacies and cultures, I still don’t know when I will become a merit sovereign.”

Xi Ri glared at Yan Nie. “Yet here you are, complaining that you’re still too weak, even though you’ve become a divinity.”

He sighed. “People’s joys and sorrows are different.”

Yan Nie gave an awkward smile. He had forgotten that compared to Tianyi, he was already very powerful. Immortal sovereigns might take millions of years before they could become divinities—that is, if they even live that long. Most perished once their willpower reached the limit. And how long had Yan Nie lived? Not even a million years.

Even Yun Xialan, his wife, was the object of many. Although she didn’t have the talent to become a divinity, she was christened the Gale Marchioness by the Heavenly Immortal Court, becoming a divinity of faith. With how much faith the ruler of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System gathered yearly, it was not impossible for her combat capability to reach the true divine level.

The after-party only lasted a day before Tianyi sent the guests back to their homes. For Tianyi and Daoyi, this was just a regular gathering, if a bit larger, but for many of the participants, it was a huge chance to expand their networks.

This was especially the case for Immortal Moneypouch. His father was Moneybag, a true immortal who rose from the Jade Cauldron Sect, which was dissolved and absorbed by the Heavenly Immortal Court. Like his father, he held a talent for business. Unlike his father, he had an even greater talent for business, but perhaps because he knew that his talent was only ordinary in the Heavenly Immortal Court, he focused on business.

Still, he became an immortal monarch without realizing it and inherited his father’s official position in the Immortal Ministry of Revenue after the latter retired. Although Immortal Moneybag had not died yet, he was becoming increasingly indifferent to the outside world, and it would not be long before he entered eternal rest.

Immortal Moneypouch was the leader of the ticketing sales Tianyi had found for the concert. It was tough work coordinating so many tickets for three groups: the immortals, cultivators below the Immortal Realm, and ordinary mortals, but the rewards were worth it—not monetary rewards, but the connections.

Even if Immortal Moneypouch did not lessen the distance between him and Tianyi, even getting to know members of the Samsara Travelers Chat Group was a huge win in his book. With Tianyi’s backing, the chat group had access to many secrets and resources that even members of the Heavenly Immortal Court had no access to.

All in all, it was a fruitful venture for the immortal merchant.

In contrast, Tianyi sealed the concert venue in a dome, likely never to use it again—at least for the foreseeable future, unless Daoyi wanted to host another grand concert.

The two of them started to discuss how to schedule Daoyi’s tour. They even roped in Xi Ri. Tianyi, Daoyi, and Xi Ri sitting around a table reminded them of their early days together, when Daoyi and Xi Ri left to join the Buzhou Immortal Sect.

But such days were impossible to return to, even with Tianyi’s mastery over the Divine Law of Spacetime. Just like he could never return to his days on Earth, or the halcyon days with his mother.

Xi Ri had also become increasingly detached, like those true immortals nearing the limit of their willpower. Tianyi had suggested Xi Ri enter his Nine Heavens Universe, where he could directly bestow greater power, but Xi Ri rejected it. He was still inclined to earn merit to increase his cultivation instead of accepting Tianyi’s gift.

Tianyi didn’t know if this was the influence of the Heavenly Dao or not. Compared to the average immortal, merit immortals needed more of the Heavenly Dao’s quintessence to transform.

If he had known about this defect, he would never have suggested Xi Ri take on the merit path. Alas, it was too late for regrets. All he could hope for was to correct this mistake once he succeeded. He could only succeed and not fail.

With the route planned, Tianyi and Daoyi began their preparations. Xi Ri left and continued to accumulate merits.

The first location Tianyi and Daoyi chose to hold the concert was the Xi Dynasty. No, not the current Immortal Xi Dynasty, but the capital of the original Xi Dynasty. It was no longer known as the Xi Dynasty and had become the capital of a new empire. Although the spiritual veins had been altered, they were still very useful for newly established dynasties.

It was a small empire, and the strongest was only a nascent soul grandmaster, nor was it the first empire to rise on that land. Through the ages, many nations have risen and fallen on that land. The new rulers never knew that it was where the powerful Immortal Xi Dynasty once stood.
