Chapter 15 Lava ruin tournament round 1 part 3

Violet raises her sword into the air, before swinging it towards one of the caterpillars.

The fireball from her sword heads directly for it. “Alright! I got the first hit.” Proudly

Violet gloats, just seconds before the fireball lands on the caterpillar. A loud sound

echoes through out the stadium, and Violet is flung backwards from where she was standing.

Her back crashes into the wall, and the impact has caused a few bricks to be let loose.

(Why did this happen?) Violet wonders until she remembers precisely what the caterpillars

were called. “Well this is problematic for me.” Violet says known full well how much of

a disadvantage she has. All of Violets attacks and weapons are fire based. Violet only has

  one option now.

Violet gets close to one of the gas caterpillars, and swings her arm forwards. Violet is using

her basic punch skill. Once her arm hits the body of the caterpillar, Violet feels her arm

beginning to burn. (Well that did not go as planed.) Violet thinks while panicking.

All the gas caterpillars see Violets failed attempt, and laugh at her internally.

The caterpillar that Violet had tried to punch returns to the other ones.

Quickly the caterpillars begin going around in a circle, which almost looks

like a tribe dancing over a fire. They begin to speed up their movements.

Soon above these caterpillars, a gas cloud appears. The caterpillars are now moving

in such a way that they are forcing the gas cloud to move towards Violet.

Violet feels the air grow thicker above her head. A small cough escapes her. The cough

grows much worst after a few minutes had passed. Violet now sees the gas cloud above

her head and knows that it is the cause of her coughing. (I have to get away from that thing

as soon as possible.) After that thought, Violet begins to run back to were she had been

  flung to the wall.

Violet picks up the three bricks. Staying as far away from the gas cloud and caterpillars

as possible Violet begins to use advance and basic fire to melt the bricks. Melting some

of the sand beneath her feet Violet forms a mold. The only problem now is how is she

going to cool the weapon. With her will Violet imagines the area around her hands becoming

colder and colder. Soon the air around her hands starts to form small bits of frost.

Focusing more Violet puts her hands over the new weapon she is trying to make.

Violet removes the stone club she has made from the ground. It will take some

effort before she can learn the club skill, however at least now she could do

some damage to the caterpillars without getting burned, or causing an

  explosion with her fire attacks.

Violet scampered towards the closest caterpillar she could find.

Lifting the stone club into the air, Violet swings it down with a crazy amount

of force. The caterpillar takes relatively no damage from the assault. Violet

continues to swing the club down on the caterpillar, and in doing so has now

learned the club skill. Even with the increase to damage from knowing the club

skill, Violet is still not able to due much damage.

(Well this is still better than when I was dealing no damage at all.) Violet

let her thoughts give her a state of reassurance. Violet could see the other

caterpillars approaching her, while she was in the middle of striking one of

their allies. “I need to come up with something better, other wise I will not

Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

be able to beat any of you.” Violet tells the caterpillar she is beating on.

Soon Violet realizes another problem, the caterpillar’s health is regenerating.

Violet was unable to notice before, this was because she was to busy hitting

this thing with her club. (I should have noticed sooner!) Her thoughts racing

through her head. (Of course, the gas keeps on refueling its self with the oxygen

in the air. Hence the caterpillar regenerates.) Violet lets out a sigh as that that

fills her mind. If it was not for the chance for causing an explosion, Violet

would simply use fire to drain the oxygen from the air.

(What is another alternative to dealing with gas?) Pondering over this Violet

looks at her club. Thinking back to how she had made the club in the first

place it hits her. (Solid, I need to make the gas into a solid!) Violet imagines

the temperature around the top of the club lowering more and more.

Violet swings the club down once she feels it is cold enough. Colliding with

the gas caterpillar, cold air is released from the stone club. The caterpillar can

feel its body growing stiffer and stiffer. The caterpillar is now an ice sculpture.

Violet shatters the sculpture with a mighty swing of her stone club.

One by one Violet uses frost strike to freeze gas caterpillars, and then crushes them

with her stone club. “And the winner is Violet Pillar!” Violet listens to the announcement,

before heading into the waiting room to rest for a bit.

Temple looks over towards where her opponents are. Temple can see the scorpions,

each of which are resting on top of a waterfall. Temple soon comes to the conclusion

that the waterfalls are a part of the scorpions. This belief was latter confirmed when

one of the waterfalls start to head towards her.

Temple takes out her bow, and aims at the scorpion on top of it. Thinking that her

attack is going to make a direct hit. Temple watches in shock at the event occurring

before her eyes. Just seconds before the arrow makes contact with the scorpion, a small

patch of water runs up the water fall, blocking the arrow just like a shield would.

Temple tries another tactic. Temple creates a bunch of boulders with basic earth,

then she hurls them towards the scorpion. Instead of the boulders hitting the scorpion,

Multiple streams of water, which are moving like jets up the water fall, push the

boulders away back where they had come from. Not wanting to get crushed, Temple

maneuvers her body out of the way, almost like preforming a dance.

(What if I try to go up the waterfall?) Following this train of though Temple

sprints towards the waterfall. Temple is pelted to the ground from the downwards

force of the waterfall. Temple gets out and away as fast as she can, coughing up

trickles of water along the way. (Well that did not go my way.) Temple face palming

herself after such a bad idea.

(Well time to try something crazy.) Temple thought to herself, wondering if all this

time around Willow had been a bad influence on her. Untying the bowstrings on

her bow, Temple places the wooden part around one of the rails of the stadium.

Once there Temple reties the bow string, which is on her end towards the ground.

(Okay, so I have put it high enough to do what I want.) Temple places one foot

on top of the bowstring. The bowstring is much more stable than a normal bowstring,

this is do to the fact that it also doubles as two whips.

Temple pushes the bowstring down with her foot, hauling it farther an farther to the

side, until the bowstring is forced to release with her on it. Temple puts out her fist

while traveling forwards. Terror fills her mind from the speed she is going. Temples

fist collides with the scorpion she was aiming for. The scorpion is unable to repel

her with the water fall, and takes heavy damage. The scorpion retaliates by stinging

her. Temple is just glad she made contact, she would have hated to miss and end up

a pancake on the ground. After being stung Temple slips into the waterfall.

Now that Temple was out of the waterfall she could feel the impact that being

stung had caused her. The scorpion had not poisoned her with its sting, instead

it had made her suffer a form of vertigo.

Right now Temple could not try the same attack she had just used. (I can not aim myself

in this condition.) Temple tried to think of what she could do instead now, but she was

to dizzy to come up with anything.

The scorpions started to move towards Temple. Temple was now surrounded by water

on all four sides. The water was drawing closer an closer to her. Once the water was

covering her Temple’s eyes shut. With her eyes closed she no longer felt dizzy.

Swimming forwards, Temple was soon out of the waterfall, and started to run forwards

  with her eyes shut tight.

Temple opened her eyes once she noticed the temperature start to increase. “Well

that was close!” Temple said to herself while seeing the lava pool just a few more

steps in front of her. Turning back around Temple closed her eyes and thought

  over what she could do.

(From what I can tell, the waterfalls are a set height.) It was after this thought that

Temple came up with an idea. Running slightly forwards, Temple crouches down

and starts to dig. Temple digs down and forwards so she can have a way to get back up

later. Once deep enough Temple heads back the way she came.

Temple opens her eyes, and uses advance earth to create a ditch from the tunnel she had

just dug. Temple now lured one of the waterfall scorpions towards the ditch.

Temple used advance earth to seal off just enough earth to trap the scorpions waterfall

underneath. Finally over the vertigo, Temple goes and retrieves her bow. Firing a barrage

of arrows while traveling back to the scorpion, Temple thinks of the best way to finish

it off with out getting stung again. Temple is now at a close enough range to attack

with her whips. Temple pulls the bow apart to form her duel whips.

The waterfall scorpion can feel the slashes from the whips hitting it over and over again,

until the very moment it dies. Temple traps the other three in the same manner, however

she had trapped all three of them at once. The scorpions are lined up in a nice little row.

Temple fires arrows, one after another, each one piercing through each scorpion, with in

  seconds of each other.

Unable to due anything, the scorpions feel the pain of multiple arrows piercing them

again and again, until they let out their last breaths. “And the Winner is Temple Raise!”

Listening to the announcement Temple heads to the waiting room, and comes to notice

that she is still suffering a mild form of vertigo.
