Chapter 53

Coldness Divine looks back and clicks her tongue.

"They're like moths in search of light."

Her pursuers are no more than 11 sentinels, each with a level over 400, but since when has such a thing mattered to Coldness Divine? With just a glance at their faces, she remembers who they are and what kind of attacks they use.

  "Bitch..."

"Ha! If you're going to die, do it quietly."

She doesn't care about their lives, easily harvesting them despite the level difference. Her fan and fire magic destroy her enemies to ashes.

"This fight should have caught their attention... Hah, they are lucky."

Not all of her dao protectors died, time is limited.

"I must go back to him, this should be enough."

Everything they planned has gone perfectly, she knows this sub-space as well as the palm of her hand. It’s not difficult for her to know where to go, as long as she stops to survey her surroundings, she knows where that man, her man, is waiting.

  "Lawrence, don’t break your promise."

She flies low to the ground, using the trees for cover, yet her tracks are hard to conceal. The sentinels may not know where she is, but they are all looking in this direction.

Just one sound, just one glow, is enough for them to turn their gaze towards her.

  "Just a little more..."

She grits her teeth, never having felt this way in all her regressions.

  "Lawrence..."

Then the silhouette of a man appears in the distance. He looks so calm, so indifferent, without pausing to think about everything she has done to reach this place.

  Noticing her, Lawrence smiles.

  "There isn't much time."

He moves his hand and then a strange rift appears beside him. A Dimensional Rift.

  "Is that your method?"

"Enter, now. There will be time for explanations later."

Lawrence has always thought of her as a smart woman, who knows the moment and the place, who will not stop at trivialities and who is capable of achieving her main objective without looking back. Because of this, he was deeply surprised when she embraced him.

Though reluctant, he indulges her. Lawrence brings his face close to hers and kisses her.

Passionately their tongues move inside each other, their hands pressing the other’s waist and then back. As they part their lips, they find themselves intimately embraced.

Belatedly, he discovers the expressionless face of Coldness Divine.

  ‘This woman--!’

He tries to react, tries to pull away from her, but it is futile. For a second his mind goes blank, when he comes to, the first thing he sees is the grass.

He's on the ground, with a fan piercing his heart.

  "Cough."

He intended to breathe, to gather air to ask her why, but only a mouthful of blood comes out of his lips.

  "Lawrence, Lawrence..."

The gaze of Coldness Divine is different from the one she first gave him, it’s even colder than he ever saw.

“You always had a way to help me. You could come and go from this place whenever you wanted... How did it feel?”

Her eyes reflect a grudge, one with which she wouldn't even look at her worst enemy.

"To have me in the palm of your hand, to play with me. I see, now I understand everything!"

A smile forms on her lips, it is beautiful, indescribably beautiful.

"You used me, from the beginning you had the method. You watched curiously as I fought against them all, how I destroyed the magic formation of Noble Indolence over and over. You were concerned about me, you told me I was ruining my future. Hahaha!"

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

Her laughter resonates in the environment, unheard by anyone else.

  "It was all a lie!"

She gave up so much for him and yet was used, Lawrence was just waiting for her to fall in love with him. His purpose was simple, he wanted a woman who was easy to manipulate.

And he was about to achieve it, had it not been for a mistake he made.

‘This bitch is crazy! Celestial Firmament was right!’

Lawrence watches the situation before him with little hope. Celestial Firmament warned him that dragons would not easily yield to emotions and here he thought Coldness Divine had completely fallen, that upon discovering the truth she would react like Serene Will. How naive of him.

Now he wants to do something, but he can't. His magic doesn't activate, it's too late.

Slowly his life spills out, his blood ceases to circulate through his body, he feels tired, cold. He hates having a high level, because a mortal should already be dead by now. He wants to forget, to wish this was a dream.

  "You're dying."

She approaches Lawrence and mercilessly pulls her fan from his heart.

  "Cough..."

More blood comes out of his mouth, but this is the last time, the rest is coming out from the hole in his heart.

"I will listen to your last words... because despite everything--"

"I detect magic in that place! Proceed with caution!"

  "Tsk."

Coldness Divine looks back and clicks her tongue. She can sense the presence of the sentinels, if she doesn't leave here soon, it will be too late.

"I wanted to hear your last words, but it seems--"

She is interrupted again, but this time by a bloodied hand caressing her cheek.

  "I love you."

At that moment the hand falls to the ground.

  Lawrence has died.

  "..."

Coldness Divine stands motionless looking at his face, his pale skin and lifeless eyes. The ring on her left hand falls confirming his death. The only time she diverted her gaze was to look at that rift, the Dimensional Rift still exists despite his death.

Easily, Lawrence could have removed it, but he did not.

"…I hate that your death hurts me so much."

Tears fall from her face, but she must not. She must not mourn his loss.

It didn't hurt her to have killed her men, they were all hers, it was their honor to be by her side and die by her hand. That was the deal between them, their lives belonged to her in exchange for the little affection she could give them.

With Lawrence, she doesn't know what she signed.

  "I'm sorry..."

He died leaving the Dimensional Rift open, without destroying her only chance to disappear without a trace and strengthen herself, to then return and destroy everything. If this is part of his manipulation, she doesn't know either.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't think you were different from them."

Her tears continue to fall. She thought that killing him would be the same as killing her men, but she was wrong to compare them. From the beginning, there was no comparison.

"I found her! I need reinforcements!"

Coldness Divine wipes her tears and rises from the ground. She knows they were following her, that at the slightest circumstance she would be found.

"You are surrounded, surrender without resistance."

What she did not expect is that, not only from her back, but enemies also arrived from the front. From where she never saw anyone come, there was no way they could.

Cautiously the sentinels approach Coldness Divine.

When the strange rift disappears, she makes her move.

  "Next time will be different..."

With her fan in hand, she runs towards her enemies, showing that she will fight until only one of them remains standing.

  "Attack!"

Dozens of spells head her way. They know that killing a prostitute has serious consequences, so they all aim to create severe wounds, to immobilize her.

Coldness Divine smiles and then opens her mouth.

The fire magic meant to neutralize her is absorbed by her. Entering deep into her body and easily destroying her internal organs. This is the technique she developed over her entire life, assisted suicide.

  "Eh?"

The owner of the magic turns pale as he sees Coldness Divine fall, blood beginning to emerge from her pores.

  "I- I- I didn't want to kill her! I- I swear that wasn't my intention!"

All the sentinels fall silent, none wanting to be part of the consequences that are coming.

‘…Next time will be different, I swear.’

  Coldness Divine has died.

“Everything is ready. The preparations have been completed.”

He does not want to think about the worst, although the words of Celestial Firmament remain in his mind, Lawrence should not distrust her. Bitches sense fear, if you distrust them, they will distrust you. So he needs assurance, the world may be falling apart, but he must look unconcerned, as if everything is part of the plan.

A shadow catches his attention and he looks up to the sky.

  “Ruk?”

The eagle lands on his hands proudly.

“You arrive at a good time, rest nearby. I will need your help later--”

  Squawk.

Ruk squawks and then shakes his head, the next second he opens his beak and a paper appears suddenly before him. Skillfully, he grasps it with his beak and looks at his master.

“A message from Coldness Divine? Strange, she should not be attracting attention at this moment. Something must have happened…”

Lawrence unfolds the paper and reads part of its content.

Immediately he looks around. He expands his senses, but is unable to feel anyone besides him and Ruk.

  “Tsk, what’s going on?”

He opens the paper again and continues reading.

  “Damn it! Damn!”

Lawrence grits his teeth. ‘What does this mean? Will I no longer be able to get Coldness Divine out without her always being watched?’

He knew that attempts were limited, but not that they had completely disappeared. Not to mention the last time, if he overreaches, he will die helping Coldness Divine.

“This woman must have a way, she will not be satisfied with the current outcome.”

<…I will make my dao protectors disappear so that the blame falls on one of them, that has not changed. What will change is the process.>

<…I will destroy the barracks nearby, if they follow you again, they will be fry easy to dodge for a few seconds. Vital time to appear before you.>

<…Ruk will be the signal, just like now.>

  “Hahaha.”

With joy, with humor to make jokes, Lawrence strokes Ruk's head.

“How long have you been circling in the sky, huh?”

  Squawk.

Unfortunately, Lawrence doesn’t understand his squawks, perhaps Serene Will could infer more from them. So, without receiving an answer, he decides to move the plans forward and give him the magic artifacts. Coldness Divine will handle the problems that arise.

Success will depend exclusively on her.
