Chapter 76

“Lawrence, what are you doing here?”

His eyes widen at the greeting from Prescribed Dream.

He has not missed a single meeting with her, where Lawrence arrives at her residence and engages in pleasant conversation. She is… friendly? No, that’s not the word. Cordial would be closer to the actual concept.

  “Did I do something wrong?”

Hence his surprise upon hearing her words.

She can see the questions above Lawrence’s head and smiles. “Not at all, just… You shouldn’t be here right now, your place is elsewhere.”

Lawrence narrows his eyes and the next second his heart begins to beat rapidly. 'Could something have happened to those women?! Damn it!'

“Thanks for your advice, I must go.”

Prescribed Dream nods and watches Lawrence's back as he walks away. She parts her lips for a moment, but then retracts. She won’t say that he is mistaken in his thoughts, that what awaits him is not something unfortunate, quite the contrary.

“You will have something to regret in the days to come.”

She enters her residence and closes the door quietly.

Lawrence quickly completes the reports of the bitches he is in charge of today, fortunately for him, all of them are already tamed. He has accepted no new ones except for Prescribed Dream, hence the documentation hardly varies day by day.

After this, he leaves work. Everyone knows that a dao protector must properly handle the stick and carrot, no one will obstruct Lawrence’s path unless his work isn’t bearing fruit.

‘I must return to the Inferior Plane now!’

He is not afraid to jump into a carriage and press the driver to increase the speed. He hates that flying is not allowed inside the city.

After getting off, he enters his house and without hesitation travels to the Inferior Plane.

  “Lawrence?”

Sky Petal notices the arrival of a person, and after approaching the place, she realizes that the plants were referring to her husband. “I thought you’d arrive in the afternoon, did something happen?”

“That’s what I should be asking, what’s going on here?!”

After seeing his seriousness, Sky Petal realizes there must be something he knows that she doesn’t. Because in the mansion and its surroundings, everything is as any ordinary day.

“If you’re worried about us, nothing has happened.”

  “Ah?”

It seems that was his source of concern, Sky Petal sighs in relief. It feels good that her husband thinks of them despite knowing the kind of person he is.

"Did that phoenix girl lie to me? Damn it! I must go back! If that woman does something in my absence, I will bear the blame for her actions! I can't believe that for a moment I thought she could see the future."

“Lawrence, explain. If you don’t tell me anything, I can’t help you.”

Lawrence cancels the Dimensional Rift and explains what happened. As soon as he finishes speaking, Sky Petal gets lost in her thoughts and moments later comes back to herself. That expression, rarely shown, appears on her face.

“There might not necessarily have been lies, no one can predict events that are yet to occur.”

She closes her eyes and speaks with the flora of this world. Dozens of signals and diffuse words form a feeling, a feeling that conveys a meaning only she and her son Ryan can understand.

Seconds pass, until at some point Sky Petal acquires a much wider vision of her surroundings than her own eyes could provide.

“The princess of the Sky Blue Mountain Kingdom is approaching this place.”

  “Do you mean Reminiscent Euphony?”

“Her.” Sky Petal nods. “She wants an audience with you, they can no longer bear the burden of war. The moment you were waiting for is approaching Lawrence, Prescribed Dream is more extraordinary than you and I believed.”

  Lawrence holds his breath.

  “But why now?”

That she predicted the arrival of Reminiscent Euphony implies that he was not mistaken, Prescribed Dream can see the future to some extent, but he cannot get out of his head the fact that his presence in this place was not necessary.

He could easily have continued his day while his wives made her wait, why was Lawrence’s presence so necessary? Was there something he had to avoid? Would the wait make her change her mind? Would she witness something from which there would be no turning back?

The only noteworthy event would be that, after his visit with Prescribed Dream, he would go to see Absolute Prominence. And yet the result would be the same as it is now.

“Tsk, nothing seems to make sense.”

Sky Petal gently strokes his back to try to cheer him up.

Lawrence says: “Call Serene Will, I need her ability to read thoughts.”

  “And Coldness Divine?”

“She’s not needed, let her keep doing whatever she wants. Tell Serene Will I’ll be waiting for her in the throne room.”

As soon as Sky Petal goes in search of Serene Will, Lawrence remains there for a few moments before leaving. He still has a bad taste in his mouth.

The throne room is exactly as its name implies, the only difference is that it is not located in a castle, but has been part of the mansion since its creation 11 years ago. Initial Spark has always cleaned it without knowing its purpose, today that day has come.

“According to rumors, if you take one more step you’ll hear a growl in your ears. It seems to have no origin, but if it’s about him then…”

Reminiscent Euphony looks at the dirt road under her feet and then takes a step. At that very instant, she hears a growl, she immediately recognizes it.

“Dragon, I wish to speak with the ranker Lawrence.”

The growl disappears, but in return a wave of mana surrounds her body, evaluating her level, her intentions. Reminiscent Euphony can feel the warmth of this mana, just as she witnessed that day, it belongs to a dragon of sacred magic.

The mana fades into the air and she understands that she has passed the test. She again takes a step forward, but this time nothing stops her. She advances until she sees a mansion in the distance and as soon as she sets foot on its territory, a woman with long emerald hair comes out of the mansion.

The woman is as beautiful as a fairy, even Reminiscent Euphony has to admit that the beauty of that woman is unmatched in the world.

“I am Reminiscent Euphony, the princess of the Sky Blue Mountain Kingdom. I request an audience with the ranker Lawrence.”

Sky Petal smiles gently at her nervousness.

  “Initial Spark.”

At her words, a woman appears behind her, Reminiscent Euphony is surprised to see that woman fulfilling her command to this day.

“Guide the princess to the throne room.”

  “Yes, my lady.”

Both women meet again, this time under completely different circumstances. A princess and her knight, Reminiscent Euphony wishes she could speak with her, but the setting does not allow it. Initial Spark acts as a servant and guides the princess through the halls of the mansion, until they stop in front of extensive doors.

“The lord is waiting for you inside.”

  “Thank you, Initial Spark…”

Her words carry great significance and Initial Spark understands, she smiles and bows as she once did in that castle. Then she leaves without saying a word.

Reminiscent Euphony takes a deep breath and then opens the doors.

On the other side of the doors, large windows to the right allow a view of the outside, to her left beautiful pillars that support the mansion. Meters from her is a throne, seated on it is that man she saw fighting with the dragon, and beside him a beautiful woman with a long jet-black braid, her beauty comparable or even superior to that fairy.

He is a ranker of the highest level, while she a princess of a kingdom. One seated on a throne and the other standing, they are not the same.

“Reminiscent Euphony, I have heard of you from Initial Spark.”

Lawrence watches the princess and smiles inwardly. Although she is elegantly dressed and wearing accessories classified as magic artifacts, to his eyes such attire is nothing. Perhaps it is a bit interesting to see some artifacts of level 270 on her body, in the Inferior Plane they are hard to find and create, but that’s all.

“Before we get to the main topic, answer me, what does it feel like to be the future queen?”

He wants to control everything, if the Inferior Plane is within his reach, he will take it. If it is the Divine Plane, he will not hesitate to do the same! But he is curious, curious to know how it feels for someone who from birth was destined to possess the lives of millions of people, to be the highest authority of a kingdom.

Reminiscent Euphony does not understand the purpose of his question, but she does not hesitate to answer.

“Responsibility, too much for one person to bear.”

There was a time when her immaturity made her feel joyful, feel pride, those feelings are in the past. Today she only feels tranquility, she has accepted her destiny.

“I feel admiration, under established rules what is known today as the Sky Blue Mountain Kingdom was built.”

Each ancestor had their own vision of how to rule. She has hers too.

“It is because of this that I wish to be seated there, to witness the next generation.”

Lawrence remains silent, unable to believe that there is not a trace of ambition in this princess. What is the use of the world if not to rule it? The lives of people are nothing, everything has a greater purpose. That they cannot see it means they are not worthy of knowing it.

“Your kingdom is at war, why are you here?”

At the words of Lawrence, she understands that this is the moment to speak, to convince the ranker to act. He has much to gain and Reminiscent Euphony makes sure to name all that they are willing to give.

Even if he does not desire it, it is different if it involves his son.

Reminiscent Euphony recounts the events of this war, both the enemy and themselves. That they will obtain victory, but that the Dajhir Kingdom refuses to hand it over despite their losses. That the enemy magic is vicious, they seal towns and small cities, murdering without distinction between the elderly and children.

Lawrence and Serene Will listen to her words without interrupting her.

Until everything that needs to be said has been said.

  “Magic that seals spaces?”

Both the ranker and the woman beside him seem interested in this magic, Euphony quickly uses this to her advantage.

“If the esteemed ranker is willing to help us, that magic will be yours.”

Lawrence smiles at the words of this princess.

“I don’t need the Sky Blue Mountain Kingdom for that, I could easily do a favor for the Dajhir Kingdom and kill you right now. Wouldn’t it be better to support them?”

Reminiscent Euphony is startled, “Just for that magic?!”

  “Just for that magic.”

He is not joking. In fact, had he known earlier that the Dajhir Kingdom possessed such magic, he would have paid them a visit long ago. Lawrence looks at Serene Will and she nods, “That magic will be very useful to us in the future.”

“Yes, I didn’t expect to find a countermeasure against that sub-space in this of all places.”

Seeing the ranker talk so cheerfully with that woman makes her clench her fists. In that moment Reminiscent Euphony understands.

‘I should not have asked for his help.’
