Chapter 103

  Regression Number ???

This day Coldness Divine feels that it is special, although it is the same sun entering through the window as on other occasions, everything feels different. She can see the back of Noble Indolence writing the last page of the magic formation Denial Domain.

The most important page of all, the one that will turn a false book into a true one, from incomplete to finished. A spellbook.

“This is the magic formation, eh…”

  “Tsk, don’t interrupt me.”

When Coldness Divine approaches to look at the drawing, Noble Indolence glances at her with a noticeable shade of hatred in her eyes, of rebellion. On other occasions, Coldness Divine would use this as an excuse to pull her hair or create wounds on her pretty face. Not this time, she feels merciful.

The last page is special because it is not a detailed text, but the final drawing of a magic circle. Noble Indolence constantly has to check the previous pages of the book to continue with the design of the circle, each line, each symbol has a purpose. Today everything comes together to form the final concept.

The size may not be different from that of any book page, but this is merely an illusion. When the user wishes to replicate it, it will expand in their mind delivering different meanings.

This page is special, but if the user does not fully understand the spellbook, this magic formation will never make real sense.

In this regression, there is no one knocking on the door, Coldness Divine found a way to deal with him without any repercussions a long time ago because she was bored, because she desired a change, that is why she tried. And also because of this, she allowed it to happen despite having the means to avoid it.

Time passes much slower than other times, but the final result is immutable.

“The reconstruction of this magic formation is finished.”

The last stroke of Noble Indolence resonates unexpectedly in the simple handwritten book. A light shines in the room, the book whose cover was common, changes to have a title made up of majestic letters.

  [Denial Domain]

Noble Indolence holds the book and extends it towards Coldness Divine.

“Now take it and get out of here.”

What she hates most is seeing that this dragoness does not receive it immediately but looks at one of her companions before accepting it. Noble Indolence feels indignant at such humiliating treatment but can only bite her lips and endure.

Slowly Coldness Divine evaluates each page and then increases speed upon realizing that, while its content has subtly changed, the concepts are the same. Her magic of copying can no longer be used, but although it lost its meaning, she still has all these pages in her memory before the last one was created.

Upon reaching the final page, she stops and memorizes it meticulously.

Just minutes after trying, she succeeds.

  “You’ve done well.”

  “Tsk.”

Coldness Divine expands her fan not to kill, but to throw air at her face. It is this action that most annoys Noble Indolence.

‘It’s a pity that level 800 is a difficult barrier to overcome, otherwise--’

  “You are wrong.”

Her thoughts are interrupted by the words of Serene Will. “In fact, Noble Indolence is capable of increasing its limit to level 850.”

“Why didn’t you say so before?!”

  “…”

The silence of Serene Will she can interpret. She may not be able to read her mind as she just did, but Coldness Divine fully understood her meaning. How long would it take Noble Indolence to achieve it? How many times would she have to end her own life?

She clicks her tongue before saying: “I don’t need your pity.”

Her fan positions at the level of her neck, wanting to end her life at that moment. Although she knows she hid this information for her good, Coldness Divine cannot accept it. But she is the only one who will remember this day, so she decides to compromise. Although once again, she will be the only one doing it.

  Coldness Divine has died.

  “Dimensional Rift”

Lawrence creates a Dimensional Rift at a key point on his journey. This is the place closest to the barracks mentioned by Coldness Divine and closest to matching the route he always takes on his way to work.

  “Eh? A sheet of paper?”

But contrary to expectations, what appears through his Dimensional Rift is not a person, but a sheet of paper that gently falls to the ground.

After reading it, Lawrence smiles joyfully.

  “It’s fine, it’s not a difficult request.”

He undoes the Dimensional Rift and continues on his usual path toward the next woman under his charge. He will keep working as a dao protector until he fulfills all his objectives, even though he's tired of pretending to be an average sacred magic user.

His smile does not disappear no matter what happens during the day. He believed this would last until the end, after all, Coldness Divine was able to replicate the magic formation Denial Domain, why wouldn’t he be happy? What could take away his happiness?

He takes a deep breath before opening the door after having casually knocked.

  Inside, a woman snorts.

“You don’t even knock before entering anymore, do you see this as your own home now?”

  “I did, didn’t you hear?”

Prescribed Dream sighs while shaking her head resignedly. Contrary to her exaggerated attitude, the reality is that she quickly recovers her flirtatious smile and fox-like eyes. This woman behaves in such different ways that Lawrence is still unable to understand her, he simply decided to respond as the situation progresses.

  “You smell of other women.”

Lawrence narrows his eyes and responds with the truth. “Does that bother you?”

  “No.”

But the relaxed attitude of this woman does not allow him to discover her true thoughts.

Lawrence sits on the sofa in front of her, but as soon as he sees Prescribed Dream get up from her seat and walk towards him, he can predict what will happen next. It’s not the first time this has happened, that she takes a seat next to him and gets too close to the point of touching each other’s bodies. What is this woman’s intention by appearing so defenseless?

  ‘What?’

But then she stops in front of him and gently pushes him back. In the next second, her long legs are positioned next to him, and she proceeds to sit on him, face to face. When Prescribed Dream embraces him by the neck, Lawrence’s expression changes.

“Stop playing, I don’t see you with the same eyes as those women.”

He does not wish to have a romantic relationship with this woman, he gave up on that path. If she can predict the future, know who he really is and his purpose, he can never make her fall in love. Because both will be using each other!

She smiles without getting angry, “It was simpler when you did.”

  “Why do you do this?”

  “Don’t you want my predictions?”

“I want them, but what do you want in return?”

  “This.”

When Prescribed Dream’s lips approach his, Lawrence frowns. He cannot close his eyes when she does, even when she actually kisses him. He can feel the softness and warmth of her lips, but more than that, he feels annoyed.

This is not the result he wants.

The soft kiss lasts for a few seconds, until she withdraws her lips from him. She opens her eyes and smiles presumptuously, a behavior that shows no animosity towards him, but he does not know how to interpret it.

“Lawrence, you and I are meant for each other.”

He tries to discover the truth through her eyes. He cannot.

“We are destined to be together.”

These last words make him frown for the last time. Lawrence pushes her away from him and stands up from the sofa. At least he hoped that this action would generate a response from Prescribed Dream, but it does not.

Until the end, this woman continues smiling.

“If you know why I’m here, you must know what I want. Continuing this will serve no purpose.”

Lawrence leaves immediately when he sees Prescribed Dream’s eyes narrow, the curve of her eyes aiming for a cheerful expression, and he does not want to hear what a face like that might say.

He slams the door loudly, as the echo reaches her ears, Prescribed Dream regains her senses and settles back in her seat.

  “Anastasia…”

She touches her lips and thinks aloud.

  +++

Lawrence cannot believe that his happiness disappeared just like that, as if nothing. Prescribed Dream is an inscrutable woman, while he wishes to be her ally, he no longer even thinks about being her friend, this woman destroys everything before his eyes.

The only thing he desires is to change his destiny, find a way to have his own Way and the only one who can do that is her. He needs her trust to be able to give her his, otherwise, he will not be able to entrust his life to her when the time comes.

Prescribed Dream's predictions might be important, but they're useless if Lawrence's level stagnates! Sooner or later, time will consume his lifespan!

He looks around and then creates a Dimensional Rift.

  “Lawrence”

Sky Petal is the one who appears through it.

“This is the place closest to the location mentioned by Coldness Divine, I can’t take you further. Be careful, I’ll be waiting here.”

“Yes, this is enough. Thank you.”

He observes her smile and cannot help but compare it to that of the other woman, both are so different. While one smiles with joy and sincerity, the other does so with ulterior motives and sometimes, like a carnivorous animal looking at its prey, and that’s not all. When she demonstrates the tranquility of a lake, it is when he least can understand her.

  “Lawrence, about Coldness Divine…”

Sky Petal stops for a second and then takes a breath. “According to Serene Will, she’s not doing very well.”

Once the message is conveyed, Sky Petal says goodbye and moves away at high speed. The likelihood of being discovered is minimal, not when thousands of plants back her up.

Lawrence sits near a tree, the soft breeze lifting his hair.

“Hah… If time doesn’t kill me, one of those women will.”

He knew that all those regressions would harm her, so much so that, even knowing that Noble Indolence could reconstruct that magic formation, he never forced her to do it.

“She must be pretty bad for Serene Will to be speaking for her.”

When he finishes his business in this place, the first thing he will do is comfort Coldness Divine. Even if she doesn’t want it.
