"Lawrence... Lawrence!"
He hears someone calling him and his eyelids move, but he can't open his eyes. He can't remember the last time he saw the sun, nor what he was doing. At the very moment that this thought arises, he becomes worried.
'Wake up... Wake up...' he tells himself.
Lawrence knows that something bad is happening, being trapped in a dream is impossible for someone like him, so he instinctively forces himself to regain consciousness.
'Wake up!'
From one second to the next, his eyes finally open.
"Lawrence, are you okay?!"
Three women stand near him, women he recognizes. As soon as his memory is stimulated, he manages to remember what he was doing and why he is on the ground. Unable to contain his joy, he laughs out loud.
"Hahaha! I knew it had nothing to do with that damn sect!"
He gets up from the ground despite his women's insistence to rest a bit longer.
Coldness Divine is the first to stop worrying about him after seeing his attitude, "Lawrence, could you explain what happened? You were unconscious for two hours, we feared the worst. I can't understand how you're still alive."
She is angry, seeing that her husband's first action after waking up is to laugh like a madman, it does not calm her. She wants answers, and she wants them now!
Lawrence stops laughing and instead creates a Dimensional Rift in front of him.
"It's best if you see for yourselves."
Both Sky Petal and Coldness Divine are still unsure of what is happening, only Serene Will is the exception, who can't believe what she is seeing. Lawrence notices her expression and clicks his tongue.
"Come in, don't ruin the fun for the rest."
Serene Will sighs and deactivates her innate ability, she is the first to enter through the Dimensional Rift. After her, Coldness Divine and then Sky Petal follow. When Lawrence enters, the Dimensional Rift disappears behind him.
"God..."
On the other side, his three women are sighing with excitement.
"What is this place...?"
It is just an ordinary landscape, a vast meadow, a clear sky, and the radiant sun illuminating the surroundings, but they, who are so close to proving their Way, can feel the incongruity of this place.
"It's neither the Inferior Plane nor the Divine Plane..."
Sky Petal is the second to approach the truth.
"That's right, you're correct."
Lawrence walks in front of them and reveals the mystery. "This is a place that belongs neither to the Divine Plane nor the Inferior Plane, it is a territory without rules, without laws. A world detached from the planes, a place that can only be explained as..."
"My personal dimension!"
He disappears and in an instant reappears behind them. They all turn their faces toward him and look at him surprised, none of them could follow his movement, in fact... Was it even a movement?
"In this place, I am like a God, I can do and undo. A world just for me!"
They still can't regain their composure, they can't keep up with the information delivered by their husband. More so when Lawrence forcibly teleports them to the sky, at the exact center of his dimension.
What causes the most admiration is that, although they are in the air, they are neither flying nor falling. They are simply there, as if it were natural to be.
"That being said, it's small. This dimension only has the size of a large village, it's close to being a small city, but impossible to classify as such."
His personal dimension spans a few kilometers, but just that. There are no mountains, no hills, no trees, no animals, no insects... Only some bushes and a stream that crosses his territory from north to south.
The rest is just land and pasture, the territory is mostly flat.
"I don't even know the origin of that river, can I make a big hole to turn it into a lake?"
Just the intention of Lawrence creates a huge crater in the ground and the river flowing from north to south is interrupted. Slowly its waters begin to gather in one place, forming the lake he had in mind.
He smiles and was about to transport everyone to another place, when a hand stops on his shoulder. The owner of this hand is Sky Petal.
"Lawrence, do not become drunk with power. That's enough for today."
Lawrence looks at her for a few seconds and then blinks, the next instant his gaze returns to being the gloomy one as usual.
"That was strange..."
He felt like he owned the world and he still does at least in this dimension, but after the words of Sky Petal, Lawrence understands that he is getting carried away.
"There's a place I want to take you, do not resist."
This time he teleports them all with their consent, this will be the last stop, something he considers necessary for them all to see.
The place they arrive at is the edge of his personal dimension. From a distance, it seemed that the blue sky continued limitlessly just like the meadow, but from this position, it is possible to see a wall that prohibits them from advancing.
A wall that resembles chaos, beyond it, it is possible to see what Lawrence previously considered the Chaotic Dimension.
"This is the end of my power, this is where my authority reaches. Serene Will, can you see anything beyond this limit?"
Serene Will nods. She approaches the edge of this dimension and touches the wall. Her innate ability Omniscient View allows her to obtain information about everything that exists, no matter its state or circumstance, she always gets a description.
"Nothing... My innate ability doesn't react."
But just like with Lawrence at that moment, the chaos beyond this limit cannot be described.
She sighs and this time turns her gaze towards him, "But there's a difference, this time I can evaluate you Lawrence."
He widens his eyes in response and then listens to her words.
"You are the owner of a fragment. It doesn't specify which, its relationship with the Divine and Inferior Planes, it doesn't detail what exactly a fragment is. Just that, what we see, what I'm standing on right now, belongs to you."
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
This cheers up Lawrence, since Serene Will affirms that he is the only one to own this dimension, that no one else will be able to interfere with what happens inside. A small world where he is God and no one can stop him.
The next to speak is Coldness Divine, "Although you were mistaken about something Lawrence. This fragment, dimension or whatever it is, is not a place without laws."
His joy immediately disappears. "Specify."
"Laws of the world. This place is not exempt from them."
Coldness Divine had been silent all this time evaluating this strange place. Both the Divine Plane and the Inferior Plane have invisible laws, everything that goes up must come down. But this place, although weak, also possesses them.
"They are intertwining like a network and forming new laws as we speak."
Sky Petal intervenes and asks: "Is this why it doesn't feel like the world we know?"
"No, it's not because of that." Coldness Divine shakes her head and continues explaining, "This... fragment, is not creating the restrictions we know. What restrictions? I wouldn't know how to answer, that goes beyond my knowledge. I'm only sure of something..."
She pauses for a few seconds, thinking how to tell them this.
And then she reveals her discovery.
"This was an idea I had the moment I saw that the laws of the world were entering your body and now that I'm here, I have faith in it... If it's about this place, it's possible that someone like you Lawrence can develop your Way."
These words shock everyone, but especially Lawrence.
He remembers that the closer he got to level 300 the more he felt the need to focus on something, to develop it and prove it. At first, he didn't fully understand it, but instinctively he wanted to do it. As time went on, he continued without success and thought he would do it in the future.
As soon as he met the requirements and acquired information about the Ways, he tried again, but again failed.
Searching for the causes of this, he believed he found the reason for his failure.
He is a user of sacred magic, maybe this interfered with his Way because he only wanted to have malevolent Ways. He looked for one that seemed sincere on the outside, but that had hidden motives and that was the Eternity Way. Eternity will turn the good into bad and the bad into good, then the bad will return to being good and the good to bad, but this is not important, as long as he lives eternally, he will be able to appropriate everything.
He tried with more enthusiasm than before, the failures did not prevent him from continuing, but even so, that spark that would trigger everything never appeared.
He didn't want to accept it, but at that moment he had no alternative. His destiny was to die at the age of 20, why should someone like him have a Way? From the beginning, he had no chance. He is an error in this world that, although he will not be destroyed by a giant hand that will appear from the sky, will collapse by himself as he cannot continue to advance.
But now Coldness Divine tells him that if it's about this place, there may be a chance. How can he not get excited?
"Hahaha!"
Lawrence leans against that wall and laughs joyfully, but he soon comes back to his senses.
He feels something strange on his back, he moves away from the wall and directs his gaze toward the chaos behind it. He squints for a few seconds and then sighs, he'll think about it later.
"The first thing is to rely on Prescribed Dream and only then try to change my destiny in this dimension. If that doesn't work, nothing will."
"In simple terms, yes, that's right."
Coldness Divine nods and everyone agrees that that's the plan to follow.
"Now that what's related to the laws of the world and Lawrence's Way has been clarified, Sky Petal... What you were thinking is something that others should know."
Serene Will looks at Sky Petal and the latter smiles a bit uncomfortably, in front of the first wife she can't keep secrets.
"What's it about?"
When Lawrence urges her to speak, Sky Petal reveals her thoughts.
"I've tried talking to the plants in this place, but I haven't received any response. The good news is that this dimension has no relation to the Will of Nature nor will it have it in the future."
"And the bad news?"
"The bad news is that there is no collective consciousness of the plants and without one, the plants will be no different from stones on the ground. They will not feel and will not think, which would mean that your personal dimension would not be capable of harboring more complex plants like spiritual herbs."
This seems simple, but in broad terms, it is not.
It is nature that makes the world as they know it and without it, a balance will never be achieved. From insects to animals, Lawrence's personal dimension will be a failure of a world if they do not solve this problem as soon as possible.
Lawrence, as the owner of this dimension, understands the damage this could mean.
"Can you do something about it?"
"I think I can, but I would have to bring plants, animals, insects, and many other things. Besides..." Sky Petal knows that this can be a hassle for him, but decides to be direct and tell him. "Besides your help to enter and leave this dimension countless times, I don't know when I'll be able to finish."
Time, that is something that is precious to all those present. Sky Petal knows that to be able to create a collective consciousness, no matter how small, she needs Lawrence to create a Dimensional Rift repeatedly. To the point of becoming a nuisance.
She thinks that Lawrence will be annoyed, but contrary to expectations, he is smiling.
"Ah, as for that... There's a surprise I was reserving."
Lawrence creates a Dimensional Rift in front of him, but this one is very different from the rest.
"Now I can create stationary doors between the planes and my personal dimension."
