When Zhou Yan opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by a group of people who looked like thugs. Taking a quick look around his environment, he saw that the people around him were circling him tightly. Seeing no way out, he threw his bag to the side while taking a fighting stance.
The thugs saw Zhou Yan’s actions and burst out ughing and made fun of him. “Look at him, acting all tough, huh.”
“He’s so scrawny, I hope we don’t accidentally break any of his bones.”
Zhou Yan started scanning the group. Most of them were holding weapons, but he saw that they were all rexed and didn’t bother taking him seriously, probably due to the size difference between himself and them.
While they were all mocking him, Zhou Yan rushed forward and threw a fist towards the person closest to him--knocking him out and causing a few teeth to go flying out of his mouth.
The thugs watched as the guy nded in a pile of garbage and were stunned for a moment, not expecting the thin boy to knock one of their guys unconscious with a single punch.
However, the silence was only for a moment before, who Zhou Yan figured to be the leader, snapped out of it and told everyone to start attacking.
The group immediately ran towards Zhou Yan--intending to overwhelm him with numbers.
A wooden bat swung towards Zhou Yan’s head from the front; however, Zhou Yan blocked the hit with his arm and grabbed it instead.
The man, seeing that the hit was blocked, tried to step back and aim for a different spot yet, he felt that the bat wouldn’t budge. He looked up at the petite boy in front of him and froze as he looked into the boy’s emotionless and cold eyes.
Seeing that he was just standing there, someone shouted at him. “What’re you standing there for, idiot!”
“I- I can’t move.” The man shivered as he spoke.
Zhou Yan, with a grip on the bat, crouched down as a fist came from behind and pushed the bat upwards--knocking the man off bance and taking his weapon.
The man tumbled as his fist missed the boy.
Before the man could steady himself, Zhou Yan smashed the bat into the back of his head.
Two of the men locked eyes with each other from the opposite side and nodded. Thinking that Zhou Yan couldn’t defend both his front and back side, both of the men rushed forward.
Just as the two men were about to collide into Zhou Yan, he leaped into the air and watched as the two men collided into each other.
The group of thugs were startled when they saw Zhou Yan jump into the air. Some of them realized that they weren’t fighting a human and began to back away from the fight.
Zhou Yan nded on the two men’s head and continued smashing the bat into the people that came rushing towards him until the bloody bat finally gave out and broke into two pieces.
Seeing that the bat was broken, one of the men finally thought that he could finally nd a hit and threw his fist towards the back of Zhou Yan’s head. And just as the fist was about to nd, Zhou Yan dodged and grabbed his arm. The man panicked and wanted to withdraw his arm, but it was too te because Zhou Yan had already thrown him across and onto other people.
The leader saw that everyone was unconscious, with their life and death unknown, and panicked. He cursed under his breath and turned around while Zhou Yan was facing away from him. But before he could run any further, he felt the back of his knees being struck--causing him to fall and scrape his arms against the concrete.
He grunted and turned around to see Zhou Yan walking towards him. Although the weather was warm, his body felt cold when he saw the look in Zhou Yan’s eyes. It wasn’t something that a teenage boy could have.
“Mo- monster. You’re a monster!” The man shouted as he tried to crawl away. But Zhou Yan easily caught up to him.
Zhou Yan gripped the man’s hair with his free hand and pulled his head back. “Who sent you?”
“Wh- what do you mean?” The man tried to pretend to not understand Zhou Yan.
“I’ll count to three, and If you don’t tell me who sent you here,” Zhou Yan pced the broken bat next to his head. “Then this will go through your hand.”
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three.”
Zhou Yan lifted the bat and was about to stab the sharp end of the bat into the thug’s hand.
Seeing that Zhou Yan was serious, he quickly shouted. “I’ll tell you! I’ll tell you who sent me here!”
Zhou Yan stopped that bat just a centimeter before the man’s hand and let go of the thug’s hair.
The man flopped onto the concrete and let out a shaky breath.
With his arms crossed, Zhou Yan looked at the man on the ground. “Speak.”
“I- I don’t know his name but he asked us to beat you up however we wanted to so long as you were still left alive.” The man spoke quickly. “He also gave us a rge sum of money.”
Zhou Yan tapped his fingers on his arm. “Is that all?”
The man gulped. “That’s all I Know.”
Zhou Yan hummed. He looked at the man still sprawled out on the ground and left. As he walked towards his bag left on the side of the wall, he heard groans from the people on the ground. He grabbed his bag and walked out of the alleyway without a speck of dust on him.
Once Zhou Yan was out of the range of the alleyway, the groans of the thugs stopped and only silence remained--as if they were never there to begin with.
With a strap over his shoulder, Zhou Yan aimlessly and zily walked alongside the road as the sun began to set.
“System, send me the missions and the location for the original body’s home.” Zhou Yan said.
The system spoke with a hint of fear. [Ye- yes, Host.]
[Ahem, since Host has completed the previous worlds, it’s been decided that the missions for the next few worlds will be different.]
Zhou Yan hummed and said, “Then send me the plot’s information first.” As soon as he finished, the system quickly sent him the information, and Zhou Yan began to read the information in his mind.
The plot of this world was that it was a campus love story between childhood friends.
Zhou Yan and Zhou An are twins born from an influential family. Although they were born as twins, Zhou Yan’s body was weaker than his sister. As a result, Zhou Yan was often sick at home and left isoted from other kids. Over time, Zhou Yan became more taciturn, and he could only watch Zhou An and her friends from afar.
That was Zhou Yan’s reality until Lou Jin moved into the same city and became friends with Zhou An.
The two wouldn’t have known each other if it wasn’t for the fact that Luo Jin saw Zhou Yan by accident at Zhou An’s birthday party.
Standing at the top of the staircase, Zhou Yan thought that nobody would’ve noticed him until he locked eyes with Luo Jin.
It was like love at first sight for Luo Jin when he saw the thin and lonely figure at the top of the staircase run back further into the second floor.
Later, due to the constant pestering from Luo JIn, Zhou An introduced Luo Jin to Zhou Yan and soon the three of them became friends.
However, the days together didn’t st long as Lou Jin had to move due to his father’s job. But before leaving, Lou Jin had gifted the twins with a simple blue hair clip and a promise to return.
Time flew by and it wasn’t until their senior year of high school that the three reunited. And despite the years they were apart, the three had instantly connected again. That is until Zhou Yan overheard gossip from other students that Zhou An and Lou Jin’s atmosphere were like a couple. Seeds of jealousy had slowly sprouted in Zhou Yan’s heart, making him feel resentful.
With Zhou Yan’s growing jealousy, he became more and more unreasonable. Causing trouble for Zhou An every time he saw her. As Zhou Yan caused more problems for Zhou An, he promoted the feelings between her and Luo Jin. With feelings of love blooming between the two people, they were also greatly disappointed with Zhou Yan’s actions.
When Zhou Yan finished reading the plot, the sky had already darkened and he had reached the area of his home according to the system’s information.
Zhou Yan walked around the neighborhood of dimmed vil houses. “What’s my mission this time?” He asked as he strode towards his house where it was the only brightly lit house in the area.
[Host’s missions from now on will be to gain favoribilty points from the male lead.]
Zhou Yan paused in his footsteps. He looked in the general direction of the system and spoke without emotion, “Emotional missions are impossible.”
[Th- these are the requirements that Host has to complete in order to regain your memories and return.]
Without saying anything, Zhou Yan continued walking and quietly went inside the brightly lit house.
The system didn’t hear a reply from Zhou Yan for a while and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Although these missions were almost impossible for Zhou Yan, it knew that Zhou Yan would still do the mission so it decided to keep quiet and watch for now.
Inside the house, Zhou Yan saw three people sitting on a couch. Before walking any further, Zhou Yan scanned the house. He observed the oddly monochrome interior space. Without dwelling too much on it, Zhou Yan walked into the living room where the three people finally noticed him.
Seeing that Zhou Yan was back, Zhou An ran up to him and hugged him while Mother Zhou gently held one of his hands.
“Brother, you’re back!” Zhou An said worryingly as she released Zhou Yan from her hug.
Zhou Yan hummed as he subtly pushed Zhou An away.
Father Zhou looked at Zhou Yan and calmly said, “Don’t be so te next time.”
Mother Zhou scolded Father Zhou lightly. “Be more caring, Honey!” She turned back towards Zhou Yan and asked softly, “Are you hungry, Xiao Yan? How about I make you something to eat?”
Zhou Yan shook his head at Mother Zhou’s question. “I’ll go up first.”
Mother Zhou let go of Zhou Yan’s hand and spoke softly. “Okay. Have a good rest, Xiao Yan.”
Zhou Yan nodded and left for his room. He looked around the house as he made his way up the stairs and into his bedroom. He saw that there was a ck of decoration which further instilled the feeling of emptiness.
As he entered the second floor, the sounds from the first floor disappeared.
Zhou Yan entered his bedroom and observed the room. It had a bed in the middle of the room with a TV across from it, a desk with a computer on it, and a middle-sized closet room.
He threw his bag onto the floor and went to grab a change of clothes.
Walking into the bathroom with a change of clothes, Zhou Yan stood under the warm shower. He only did a quick rinse before turning off the shower.
Zhou Yan walked in front of the hazy mirror and wiped away the steam to look at his reflection. There stood a sickly looking boy with silver hair growing past his ears. He pushed back his bangs and looked at the features of his body. A small face with droopy eyes and a mole under his right eye, straight eyebrows, and thin lips.
There was nothing remarkable of his body except for the fact that it was too thin for his liking.
He quickly finished washing up and returned to his room to sleep.
Zhou Yan id in bed and closed his eyes.
It felt like this world was more alive yet also wasn’t really alive. But Zhou Yan didn’t think too much of it because it was also simir to previous worlds.
Zhou Yan quickly fell into a light sleep.
