Chapter 29: Class Change

The walk to the toy store, where Fenix's instructor was located, didn’t take long at all. Only a few minutes had passed, and they were already there.

As they stepped through the doorway, ChibiScker's eyes grew wide with wonder. The store was a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes, with toys of all kinds neatly arranged on shelves. ChibiScker, unlike Fenix, had no inhibitions about behaving like a child since he was still one.

“Wow!! This pce is awesome!!” ChibiScker excimed, darting from shelf to shelf, inspecting each toy that caught his interest.

Fenix chuckled at ChibiScker's childlike enthusiasm and scanned the shop for Melvin. He spotted him approaching with a spring in his step and a broad grin on his face. Melvin's eyes twinkled with delight as he watched ChibiScker marvel at the toys he had crafted.

“Welcome back, Chaotic Nexus. I see that you’ve brought a friend with you this time,” Melvin said, all smiles.

Gncing at ChibiScker, who was still engrossed in the toys, Fenix replied, “Yes, this is my friend, ChibiScker. He seems to enjoy your toys very much.”

"As all children should," Melvin procimed with a hearty ugh. “Have you finished the task I gave you?”

“Yes, I have!” Fenix said, pulling out the potions and handing them to Melvin. “All 20 potions, as you asked for.”

Melvin inspected the potions with a critical eye before murmuring to himself about their excellent quality. He then looked up and asked, “What about the Bellyborg stew?”

“Here it is,” Fenix said, presenting a container that was still warm to the touch.

Melvin eagerly took the container, sat down at a nearby table, and began feasting on its contents with gusto. The room was filled with loud smacks and satisfied chewing as he devoured the stew and even used a piece of bread to soak up the remaining juices. Upon finishing, he patted his belly contentedly.

"You have done an excellent job. I haven't had a proper meal in two days, too busy with my test toy design. It's a good thing you came along. With these stamina potions and a full stomach, I can continue working," Melvin decred happily.

Fenix was dumbfounded. He thought Melvin had given him those recipes to subtly challenge and support him. However, it seemed all Melvin wanted was a free meal and some potions. Fenix felt rather foolish for overthinking Melvin's intentions.

Melvin stood up, made his way to his desk, and rummaged around for a few minutes before returning with a wrapped bundle in his hand. "Here you go," he said, handing it to Fenix. “The things inside will help you with your new job as an Artisan. If you have any trouble, feel free to come and ask me. I will help you with your progress and make you the greatest Artisan there is.”

As soon as Fenix accepted the bundle, notifications began popping up all around him in rapid succession.

[System: The quest has been completed!]

  [System: You have leveled up!]

  [System: You have leveled up!]

[System: You are now at level 15!]

[System: Your job change was successful!]

[System: You are now an Artisan!!]

[System: You have gained 50 stat points!]

[System: Please choose your combat talent: Cooking or Potion Making.]

Fenix took a deep breath and pressed the option for potion-making.

[System: Are you sure you want potion-making? Yes or No?]

With a resolute nod, he pressed yes. He had already made up his mind and was determined to follow through with it.

[System: Your combat talent is now potion-making. You have seven days to change it, after which it will be permanent.]

Out of nowhere, the bundle Fenix was carrying transformed from a dull gray color to a bright light blue. A picture of a potion vial materialized on the front of it, causing Melvin's face to break into a smile.

He didn't say anything, just walked away, disappearing into his back room where Fenix assumed he would continue working on unfinished toys. Shrugging off this odd behavior, Fenix made his way over to ChibiScker who had finished appreciating all the toys in the shop.

“Did you finish your quest?” ChibiScker asked.

“Yup, I finally unlocked my css,” replied Fenix with a grin.

  “An Artisan!” excimed Fenix.

“An Artisan…” ChibiScker repeated with a smile. “I should have known; you never follow the norm. From your race to the skills you acquire, I can't wait to see how you fight.”

Fenix just smiled and held up the bundle. “Well, let's see what skills I've been granted.”

“Go for it!” encouraged ChibiScker eagerly.

As soon as Fenix opened the bundle, notifications appeared:

  [System: You have learned: Throw]

Throw: This newly acquired skill empowers you to unch potions from a distance towards your adversaries. When equipped with a combat potion, you can execute ranged attacks without needing to aim beforehand. Unlike arrows, which require precise targeting, throwing allows for quick and tactical strikes.

[System: You have learned: Combat Potion Creation]

Combat Potion Creation: With this skill, you can craft potent potions designed for combat from everyday ingredients. These potions can vary from explosive concoctions to corrosive mixtures, limited only by your creativity and crafting ability. A Potion Creation Journal has been added to your character tab to aid in your potion-making endeavors.

[System: You have gained: Shilvak’s Combat Gloves]

Shilvak’s Combat Gloves: These legendary gloves once belonged to Shilvak, a revered master of combat potions who once roamed these nds. Known for his unparalleled skill and feared by many, Shilvak mysteriously vanished, leaving behind only a manuscript chronicling his adventures. The gloves enhance your throwing abilities by (+5) and boost your Dexterity by (+10).

Fenix let out a satisfied exhale as he finished reading the description of his newly acquired skills and items.

Curious, ChibiScker asked, "What kind of skills did you get?"

"Ones that will require some time to fully understand, but I think I know where to start," replied Fenix with a smirk.

ChibiScker ughed, "I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting journey."

Before Fenix could respond, a loud beep sounded and a notification fshed on his screen.

[System: 10 hours have passed. Please log off for an hour!]

"I need to log off for about an hour. I'll catch up with you ter, alright?" Felix announced.

ChibiScker nodded and grinned. "No worries. I have to take a break in 20 minutes too."

After logging off, Fenix opened the pod and was greeted by a tingling sensation rushing through his body. Feeling uncomfortable, he stretched his arms above his head to loosen up, slowly releasing the tightness in his muscles.

Feeling slightly better he grabbed his crutches from their spot next to the pod and carefully stepped out. As he did so he could feel his muscles were still a bit stiff; perhaps he should have added the massage feature. Shaking his head, he left his room and headed to the kitchen to prepare himself some food.
