As they walked through the bustling streets of the town, ChibiScker's eyes darted around, taking in the sights and sounds. Suddenly, he turned to Fenix and asked, “So, what is this quest all about?”
Fenix chuckled at the timing of the question. "You're asking me now after you've already agreed to help?"
ChibiScker shrugged nonchantly. "Either way, I was going to say yes, but I still want to know what we're going up against. I might need to upgrade my weapons or armor before we go."
To be honest, what ChibiScker said was correct. The librarian did say that the monster he would be facing would have long-range attacks and was potion-based, which could mean corrosive abilities.
He couldn't help but admire ChibiScker's mature thinking for someone his age. It reminded him of the saying, 'Just because you're older doesn't mean you're wiser,' and he found it very fitting in this situation.
"You're right, I should let you prepare properly. I was just pnning on winging it since I can't use my combat skills, but I forgot that you can." Fenix admitted.
ChibiScker smiled reassuringly. “It's okay. So, tell me more about what we have to do.”
Fenix shared with ChibiScker all the information he had gathered from the librarian. He told him about Shilvak, a renowned potion maker and hero who saved countless lives.
He expined how Shilvak's apprentice believed that the masses were not worthy of learning his master's skills so easily and thus hid the book and its copies in various dungeons around the world, including one in Bellport.
"Wow..." ChibiScker excimed after hearing the whole story. "Your css has such an interesting background compared to mine. After hearing yours, I feel a bit disappointed."
"Why is that?" Fenix asked with a ugh.
"Well, my css story simply reads like this: 'A young man who was ambidextrous sought more power on the battlefield. So, he created a new fighting style called dual-wielding. Despite facing strong enemies, he emerged victorious and became known as the most powerful man in history.' Do you see how straightforward and uneventful that is? There's no mystery or intrigue at all," ChibiScker sighed.
Fenix gently patted ChibiScker's shoulder before saying, “Well my css is one of the newer ones, so they probably wanted to make it more unique. But I would have preferred it if it was a bit more generic. Then I wouldn't have to run around like this."
"Don't say that, think about the adventure!" ChibiScker grinned, unaffected by Fenix's compints. "So, do you know anything about what's in the dungeon?"
“The only thing I know for sure is that there will be different types of tests, but I have no clue what kind. Just be prepared for danger and bring lots of HP potions. Also, there will be a monster - apparently created from discarded potions."
"A potion-created monster?" ChibiScker raised an eyebrow.
Fenix shrugged. “I don’t know either, but I think that it’ll be a ranged monster, so we need to fight it up close and its attacks can be corrosive.”
ChibiScker fell silent for a moment before speaking up again. "Maybe we should enchant our gear before going in. That way, it won't fall apart when we get hit."
"I was thinking the same thing. And we also need to buy a raft kit," Fenix added.
"Why do we need a raft kit?" ChibiScker questioned.
"Oh, did I forget to mention that the dungeon is on an isnd in the middle of a ke?" Fenix revealed with a sheepish grin.
ChibiScker’s ughter rang out, bright and infectious. “Not only will this be an adventure, but it’ll be an isnd adventure! I’m totally going to record this. So, how long do you think it’ll take to go there and back?”
Fenix’s grin took on a mischievous edge. “That’s the best part, I’ve got a teleportation scroll. We will only need to figure out our return trip. Which should take about two to three days in-game time.”
“That’s awesome,” ChibiScker said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. “I’m gd we don’t need to worry about the journey there. Let’s get going!”
Their first stop was the bustling town square, where the magic tower loomed with its tall spires. Inside, they found a young mage diligently practicing his spells, the air crackling with energy as he cast intricate incantations.
After a brief exchange and a payment of five bronze coins each, the mage nodded with a smile before casting a protective enchantment on their armor with the flourish of his wand.
Next, they made their way to the general store. The silver bell above the entrance jingled as they walked in. Shelves lined with various supplies greeted them, from potions to weapons to camping gear.
Fenix's eyes nded on a boat kit. He thought about getting it instead of the raft but he reluctantly set aside his desire. Although having a boat would be better in the long run since it offered more stability than a boat, he wouldn’t be able to use it since the skill trainer for boats wasn't avaible in Bellport, so a raft would have to do.
With their preparations complete, Fenix opened the party interface and added ChibiScker. He then reached into his inventory and retrieved a teleportation scroll, tearing it in half.
A brilliant light burst forth, enveloping them in a shimmering glow. For a moment, the world around them vanished as they were transported to their destination.
As the light faded and their surroundings came into focus, they found themselves on a small isnd in the middle of a vast ke. The water stretched endlessly in every direction, and faint green smudges could be seen in the distance, hinting at a distant forest.
But their attention was drawn to the barren isnd they stood on. The only feature was a small opening in the ground covered with dense foliage. Peering down into the darkness below, they could make out a pair of stairs made of vines leading further down.
The entrance was shrouded in darkness and an eerie silence seemed to emanate from within. Fenix couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that crept over him, but ChibiScker was already eagerly recording and talking to his followers about their upcoming adventure.
“Come on, Chaotic Nexus, let’s go!” ChibiScker said before heading down into the opening.
Fenix let out a small sigh before following suit. Once he was inside, he was taken aback by what he saw.
