Blessing the youth

"How, I have never heard of anyone doing that, forgive me for being skeptical but they are my children" Saer asked rasing his brow.

"Oh, yes I suppose I should explain it to you, as I am on a Divine mission I can borrow my patron's power to bless them" I explained and he seemed relieved. To be honest I felt bad for lying to the guy but also people tended to be wary of people claiming divinity directly.

"Very well, I will take you to them.." Saer went to go on a tangent about their texture and how he knew they perfect. I smiled under my helmet at the doting father, having put my helmet back on rather then lug it around. As we navigated the homey labyrinth I reached inward to my soul, I felt the loops that separated myself from my other selfs and slowly felt the connection, the connection was strong enough to carry the divinity needed for the blessing without straining it. Retreating from the depths of my soul I stopped as we reached out location and Saer started fiddling with the hallway pulling upon a complex series of levers and pulleys before a portion of the wall moved revealing a small nest of six eggs, the shells a leathery off-white and close together.

I smiled as I starting pulling off the straps that kept my gauntlet attached to the rest of my armor, and I shrugged off both the chain and leather gloves revealing my bare hand. I began spooling the golden Divinity of Noble, I felt the innate concepts of Protection and the Depths radiating outwards and I reached out and tagged each of the six eggs with a small measure of divinity, which would grow with them. Pulling back I put my gloves back on before layering then under my gauntlet and reattached them to the rest of my armor.

"Take a look, I said to Saer and rushed In and his tail began to wag a bit, in a slow back and forth motion before he stood up.

"They were perfect before and yet moreso now, I now that whatever they do their mother will be proud, thank you" Saer said gratefully. From there we went back up to the sitting room although Saer went to move the eggs to their usual home. Turns out the reason it took a while to greet me was so that he could hide the eggs in case I was hostile. From there me and him and had talks I told him about my studies in becoming a wildlife biologist and my dream job of working at the Mammoth caves. He too had even more to share about a wide variety of topics and the conversation lasted for another hour before I departed to orchestrate the next move.

First of all I had to check to make sure the other forces where ready before departing on the bedrock road. Then also make sure that Monternoel received provisions from the other cities. I didn't have a great sense of distance between this city and the temple but I figured it couldn't be that far maybe two to three days. Waiting for Anastasia's messengers to confirm and rely my orders I helped repair some of the city. I had manged to heal enough to use magic, not offensively but fixing potholes and collapsed roofs were in my tool house now. I could feel it distantly, the people of the other cities as their lives improved became more appreciative and while it wasn't quite worship it worked in healing the damage from the giant king.

The time had arrived for my departure, Anastasia's Messengers had relayed the message and confirmed that all of the forces were ready, the main forces were ready outside the city of the Turtenani, and would depart a day after I would so that we reached the temple at the same time. From what I had heard from the messengers was that the temple had a city underbelly where the lower born Scalefolk worked with the skilled artisans living in Mansions on the edge of the temple complex. The plan was to siege the city and for me to strike and kill the Quetzal and bring the city to its knees.

From what Anastasia had manged to find out the city was already buckling, its food stores were draining rapidly as the temple officials tried to hide any knowledge of what was happening on the outside. However the people inside had a sense that something major was happening just not the specifics.

Moving out of my temporary accommodations I moved towards the repaired gate. The Puppets fell in behind me, and at the gate where three people, The Elder, Kasen, and Saer. Saer looked anxious and I assumed it was because he was away from the eggs, whereas Kasen looked at his brother amused. From what I had sensed and saw of their family mansion no one would be able to find them.

"Thank you Elder for your kindness and help with my goal" I said shaking the Monternoeli's hand and me met my gaze with kind wrinkled smile. I turned to Saer and smiled offering my hand to the anxious father.

"I hope to have another conversation with you, you are a rare mind" I said and Saer nodded before wishing me luck and departing hurriedly.

"Thank you for helping my Brother with my future nieces and nephews, live long fight cunningly" Kasen said taking my hand.

"Your welcome and you as well" I responded before me and my army moved out past the gate and for the long trek towards the temple complex.

The outline of the temple became visible about a day's away, pyramidal in design but similar to an Olmec rather then Egyptian, which I figured made sense for a being supposedly related to the Quetzalcoatl. As we drew closer I could see the temple in more detail. It had stark white marble, with a low bearing wall more for privacy then protection, and farther away form the temple their seems to the foundation of what used to the actual wall. What interested me the most? The gold and sliver that lined the temple, it was opulent and I a hundred percent wanted to pry it off with a crowbar. Hell, I just might, pull a british and abscond with their golden artifacts. Though I wouldn't put it a museum. Although at the same time I could content myself with the location of the mine where they got it instead.

I shook myself form my thoughts and returned to scanning the slowly approaching Temple/city. I could see that the outer Mansions were in rows with cobblestone streets between them. The only true Fortifications where guard barracks disguised as mansions, luckily Anastasia's messengers had manged to sneak in, acting as normal spiders. Their were a total of twenty four of them and from Anastasia could piece together they acted as a secret police of sorts monitoring the Craftsmen and the other dangerous individuals who they had put in a glided cage. It reminded me vaugely about the palace of the Palace of Versailles, make a cage gilded enough and the birds never saw it as a cage. At least that was the thought behind it.

Eventually we linked up with the rest of the army and I organized them into six camps with a named puppet leading each one with me with the Sage of the Depths. The Twenty-four aforementioned secret police mansions were abuzz and the militia of the under city was called as the lined the small low bearing wall that encompassed the temple.
