I didn't dare to move one inch. My eyes couldn't believe what they saw.
The atmosphere and the ground were one. There were no boundaries between the sky and the land. A creature so vast–with the head of a goat, mane of a lion and the body of a reptile–slithered above me towards the gates.
I hurriedly turned around to see if Klepheus would be able to stop something like that, but when I turned around, there were no gates. And the creature simply moved through the void.
I stood there dumbfounded. There were no gates which I just came through. ‘What the hell!? Where did it go!?’ no matter how much I think about it, I couldn't find an answer.
My gaze wandered around the strange realm. It was then I noticed, there were creatures of different kinds and different sizes.
There was an ant with the trunk of an elephant and the size of a dog. Another creature was nothing but a ball. It had no mouth, no eyes or nose. It bounced as it moved forward…or upward?
I saw many creatures like that, sharks with legs, lions with human faces and many more.
After looking around for a long time, I finally decided to move forward and find my soul. It was hard to tell whether I was walking or floating. In any case, I definitely have to move my legs.
While taking a ‘stroll’ through the Daesphere, I saw many of the unimaginable creatures of unimaginable size. But what actually shocked me was that they couldn't see me. Some tiny creatures even went through me.
“Since they can't see me, they can't eat me.” I sighed as relief washed over me, “Finding my soul would be easy.” I said as a slight smile pulled at my cheeks.
I ‘ walked’ around the void for longer than an hour. Occasionally seeing other creatures of the same and different kinds. It was all interesting and fun to watch them, however, as time went on my consciousness weakened.
“Aaa–haa…” I let out a yawn. I was getting tired by walking around. Suddenly, a strange noise caught my ears.
The noises came from below me. There were three creatures of the same kind. The noise of chewing and snorting grew louder and louder as I moved toward them.
I couldn't help but be curious about what they were eating because it's the first time in here I'm seeing some creatures doing something other than just ‘moving around’.
When I got closer, I finally saw their features. Face as hard and ugly as that of a wild boar which just ate poop from the slum. They had messy and broom-like white hair. And their body was similar to a human but had a red hue and it was so horribly disgusting.
‘Holy dragon’s nut!’ I cursed inside my head as one of the creature’s belly was torn and a sticky liquid was sprayed. Some of it went to whatever they were eating, but that didn't stop them at all.
I slowly came to a stop beside them. And as I thought, they didn't pay me any attention and continued to eat. Walking above the heads of these creatures, I was finally able to see what they were eating.
The moment I saw what's inside the barrels these creatures were eating, my eyes suddenly went wide.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Inside the barrels, transparent worms with the head of a human squirmed. They all had worn out faces. And in a glance, somehow I knew, it was the souls of humans.
‘My soul might be in there.’ my hands trembled as a chill ran down my mind. My transparent left arm glowed slightly. And as if in response, one of the barrels glowed slightly in golden colour.
I quickly jumped into the barrel and started to dig out my soul. Maybe because of the violent squirming in the barrel, the boar–men creatures peeked inside.
But I didn't stop, after all they couldn't see me. I took out several other heads before I finally took out mine.
I yanked it out using all my strength. However, unlike other souls, mine didn't squirm or shouted when grabbed. It was like my soul was dead.
The creatures all kept looking at it, except for the occasional glancing at each other and snorting, they didn't do anything.
As I stood inside the barrel with my soul, I suddenly felt deep fear. My legs shivered and I momentarily forgot to even breathe.
‘What the hell is this!? Something's coming!’ Maybe it's because my consciousness is not trapped inside a human brain, I could pick up on my instincts.
I held the long, thorn like tooth in my left hand as I grabbed my soul with my left. Suddenly the creatures that were looking inside, quickly went away.
I waited with my guard up, but suddenly the barrel burst opened. Blasted as it sent away the souls in it and myself.
‘What happened!?’ I looked around and saw a giant standing with a big wooden club in his hand.
The giant didn't seem to notice me or any of the souls it just smashed as it continued to walk away. As soon as it went away, smaller creatures such as the boar–men and others came back from their hiding spot.
But instead of ignoring me, this time all of them, boar-men and other creatures, looked at me. Some of the tiny creatures quickly hid somewhere I couldn't see. The others licked their lips.
I didn't notice it when the barrels were smashed, but when I looked at myself, I found out that my consciousness and my soul have become one again.
And that means these creatures can now see me. I quickly searched my hands for Klepheus’s tooth but I had lost it somewhere.
I glanced around for it. But it was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly the creatures all around me charged at me. Giving me no choice but to run.
I quickly began to run down with a bunch of monsters after me. My left arm kept glowing when I ran.
A creature that was nothing but rock with two arms came at me. I quickly ducked my head and somehow managed to dodge it.
Suddenly, a flash of light shined at my face from far away above me. I stopped abruptly in my tracks. Some stupid ones following me, couldn't stop as quickly as I did and went a little bit forward.
Turning around I saw a horde of monster-like creatures ready to attack me and behind and slightly above then, Klepheus's tooth was.
I took a step forward followed by another then another as I slowly started to run at them. The creatures of Daesphere did the same.
A boar-men swung its blade made by a tusk at my face, but I quickly evade it by ducking. The moment my lower back was bent, a bird with the head of a lizard tried to grab me by its legs.
At the same time, a horse with front legs of a lion, tried to kick me with its hind legs, causing them both to clash with each other.
One after one, they all came at me. Maybe because of luck or because of my incredible dodging skills I managed to break out of the horde.
Klepheus’s tooth was only a hundred metres away. I ran as fast as I could. When I was almost close to it, a tiny ball rolled to my feet. Before I could even see it properly, it exploded.
I was sent hurling through the air before coming to stop further away from the tooth.
The creatures all quickly caught up with me and started to swing blades, trying to stab me with their horns, kicks and stomps and all. But it was all easy for me at this stage. After all their attacks were co-ordinated in a pattern.
But the real problem was the tiny balls that explodes. As I moved sideways to avoid a trumpet swing, a tiny black ball exploded beside my face.
I lost balance and I couldn't avoid the kick of a horse that came at me. Its hind legs dig deep into my abdomen and send me a few metres back.
“Ughh…” I groaned.
There was smugness on the creatures' faces but they didn't notice that the kick actually sent me out of the horde again.
I quickly turned around and ran towards the tooth. And just like before a tiny ball flew at my face. I bit my tongue, the dark circle on my left arm appeared.
At the exact moment, the ball exploded, my left raised itself. The fire and blast from the explosion was compressed. My hand hurt to hold off the explosion but I managed to continue it till I ran past it.
‘I can do that!?’ I continue running with a dumbfounded expression on my face.
Behind me I heard an explosion. The number of monsters after me was reduced. I was only a few metres away from the tooth when the snake-like creature spotted me running straight towards it.
A few metres before me was the Klepheus’s tooth and after a few metres of that is the biggest snake I have ever seen, coming at me.
The snake was faster than me, it got first to the tooth.
“Shut!” My voice echoed back to me.
But like I thought, the snake didn't stop at the tooth, it opened its jaw and came at me at incredible speed. My eyes widened, I couldn't understand why it would come at me.
“Ha…hahahah!” I laughed. A stupidly, annoyingly, mocking laugh.
The snake was enraged as it increased its speed. It opened its mouth, sharp fangs and an eye inside it glared at me.
The moment it was in front of my face, it closed its jaw, however I had already ducked and rolled underneath it and finally picked up the tooth.
I saw the creature all running at me from all directions, but I only smiled at them before snapping the tooth.
"I win." I mouthed a silent mock at them.
