Even though defeating these two monsters was impossible, Jyu and Sizhi had no other choice but to keep fighting. Like it or not, they had to battle to complete Master Jenna’s training.

  “Use the power of your soul core!” Master Jenna shouted as if reminding her two students.

  “Work together with your demons!”

  Jyu and Sizhi immediately carried out Master Jenna’s reminder. Jyu moved first—within an instant, the power of his soul core emerged. His body now seemed to emit a mysterious aura, all his muscles tensed, and his gaze grew sharper.

  The King Kong monster in front of him no longer hesitated. It lunged forward with the terrifying force of its punch. Jyu managed to dodge and immediately counterattacked with his katana.

  But unfortunately, his ssh was blocked by the monster’s cws. A second ter, a bite aimed straight at Jyu’s head. Had he not dodged, the monster would have devoured his head.

  Luckily, Kuma acted quickly. His illusion power halted the monster’s attack. Suddenly, it froze, bewitched by Kuma’s cute antics vividly painted inside its mind.

  Kuma immediately attacked—but not with a punch, rather with a cw strike. The attack managed to scratch the monster’s cheek, causing thick blood to spurt out.

  “Grrr.” Kuma looked very satisfied after successfully injuring the monster.

  “Thank you, thanks to you I survived!” said Jyu.

  On the other side, Sizhi resumed his fight with his opponent. But the monster seemed unwilling to fight; it kept trying to flee by flying away. Fortunately, Sizhi possessed Svider’s power, which could shoot threads.

  The monster tried to escape four times, and each time it failed. This condition made it extremely furious, clearly visible from the sharp gre in its eyes. Its voice grew louder, as if unwilling to be toyed with by Sizhi.

  Now the monster intended to retaliate. It flew swiftly to attack Sizhi. Its body, resembling cloth, suddenly moved without direction. The assault was brutally savage—its estic body shed out wildly. Every stone or patch of ground struck by its attack was surely destroyed.

  Sizhi and Svider kept dodging. “Shoot its head with your sharp threads,” he ordered Svider. Sizhi suspected the monster’s head was its weak point.

  Then sharp threads like spears shot toward the monster’s head. But the attack failed again. The monster’s body drifted upward like cloth blown by the wind, eventually deflecting all incoming attacks.

  “Damn it!”

  “Svider, make me a spear from your threads,” said Sizhi.

  A few seconds ter, the weapon was ready. “Perfect!” Sizhi said in satisfaction as he gripped the pure white, sharp spear.

  “How much longer do I have to stall?” Jyu muttered irritably.

  This was the only way Jyu could defeat his enemy. But stalling was no easy matter. The King Kong monster kept attacking him mercilessly. Jyu had unched various counterattacks, but all were blocked.

  Even now, Kuma’s illusion power was no longer effective. Repeatedly, the teddy bear demon created illusions, but they always failed. The King Kong monster even struck back, causing Kuma to be hit by punches and kicks.

  “Hey Jyu! Illusions are useless against a brainless monster. That power only works the first time—maybe because it was shocked!” Master Jenna shouted.

  Jyu immediately realized it made sense. The monster before him indeed had no intellect. It moved based on killing instinct or perhaps the desire to devour Jyu. That was why illusion power did not affect it.

  “Damn! I’m truly powerless against this monster.”

  But Jyu sometimes lost his reason as well. As a young man with a burning spirit, he often chose reckless action. This time was no different!

  With the power of his soul core, he recklessly attacked the monster. He tried to move as fast as possible to get out of trouble. Jyu even managed to ssh both of the monster’s legs.

  But that didn’t mean he could win. In an instant, the monster extended its long tongue. The tongue transformed into a long spear that shot forward at incredible speed, successfully wounding Jyu. His stomach felt as if pierced by a sharp bullet. The pain was intense, and blood now flowed slowly.

  It didn’t stop there—the monster’s tongue turned estic again but transformed into a whip. Repeatedly, Jyu and Kuma were struck by the shes, both screaming in pain.

  Carrying Kuma, Jyu ran swiftly to escape the brutal assault. He hid behind a rge rock while thinking of another strategy.

  “We’ll die! At this rate we’ll die!” Jyu said, upon seeing Sizhi already powerless against his opponent. He was now sprawled on the ground, including Svider, whose body was torn apart.

  “Kuma, help Sizhi!”

  “Grrr,” Kuma responded in agreement.

  Jyu then grabbed his demon doll’s arm and immediately threw him toward Sizhi.

  Kuma was just in time. He used his illusion power, rendering the cloth-like demon immobile. For three seconds, Sizhi managed to escape, while Svider was already powerless and had returned to his master’s body.

  But Sizhi seemed to have no chance to flee. When his enemy regained awareness, he was immediately attacked by a ser beam. The attack struck Sizhi precisely in his left leg.

  Kuma kept growling, now ready to duel one-on-one with the monster. Jyu, as his master, refused to let that happen. He chose to save Kuma from the monster’s grasp, since illusion power was only effective once.

  The situation has now grown even more difficult. Behind them, the King Kong monster was chasing. In front, another monster intended to attack Kuma and kill Sizhi.

  Jyu’s adrenaline surged drastically as the kingkong monster chasing him drew closer. Its long tongue had once again transformed into a spear, repeatedly attacking Jyu—though several times he managed to dodge.

  Jyu moved in zigzags, trying to deceive his enemy. The longer it went on, the more irritated he became because he could only run without being able to retaliate.

  Suddenly, Jyu leapt and turned around. “Bastard, die!” he shouted while sshing the monster’s tongue with his bck katana.

  Success!

  Unexpectedly, the ssh hit its mark and cut off the long tongue.

  “How could I lose to a disgusting creature like you?” he barked.

  Jyu immediately ran toward Kuma to protect Sizhi. Right before him stood the monster ready to attack with its ser beam. The ser fired repeatedly, but Jyu repeatedly deflected it with his sword.

  “Kuma, sneak behind that monster and attack its head!”

  The teddy bear doll ran behind the monster.

  “Now!” Jyu shouted.

  Kuma is prepared to attack with his cws. He leapt high, now level with the monster’s head. But the monster’s head suddenly spun backwards like an owl's and fired a ser beam.

  The ser struck Kuma directly. A hole pierced through his body, and he colpsed weakly onto the ground.

  “Kuma!” Jyu screamed.
