Book 1 – Prologue – In Darkness She Resides

  PrologueIn Darkness She Resides

Darkness surrounded her in this pce. It was a deep, dark, endless void of space as it had been for so long, so long that she could no longer count the time that had passed. The bckest of bck loomed all around her wherever she looked with the exception of when her lover came to be with her. Whenever he came for her the void would grow lighter and lighter till it was a stark white in contrast to the darkest bck that had been there before. But as time has pressed onward it seemed as though he came less and less, leaving her alone in the darkness that surrounded her.

She had been in this pce for what seemed like ages as time passed her slowly by. It was not an uncomfortable pce, though it did get boring from time to time. In the past, the monotony had been broken whenever her lover had come to be with her.

She smiled, thinking back to the st time he had been with her. They had in down and taken comfort in one another’s arms. Time always seemed to pass quickly when he was there, as opposed to dragging on as it did when he was not. Softly she would call his name as they were together, passion finding its way into his voice.

“Cain,” She would say, moaning it softly into his ear, repeating it over and over again as she rode waves of ecstasy. “Cain. Cain.”

When it came time for him to part, they would hold onto one another as tightly as they could, not wanting to leave the other. Inevitably invisible forces would rip them apart as they cried one another’s names, stretching out their hands to remain in contact with one another for as long as possible before they were parted once more.

She slept on a bed of shadow, floating in the endless void as a silvery light appeared in the distance. As the light drew nearer, she awoke, watching it, hopeful that her lover had finally returned to her once again. Watching and waiting, filled with anticipation, she was disappointed when she could finally make out the shape that was at the center of the light. It was a young woman, shrouded in silver, who reminded her of her mother.

The woman approached her slowly as she rested on the bed, feeling the ache in her chest of loneliness as she came to terms that her lover had not returned. Looking out at the woman, she was curious as to who this was and why she was here. This was the first person that had come this pce that was not her lover since she had come to be trapped here in this pce of darkness.

The woman, upon reaching the bed, sat down beside her and leaned over whispering something softly into her ear. She tried to argue, but the woman put a finger over her lips in a hushing manner that caused her to remain silent. She nodded to the woman in reluctant agreement and the woman stood up then walked off into the darkness of the void.

A tear fell from her eye as she realized that if what the woman had told her was true, she may never see her lover again if he did not come soon.
