Days passed quickly, and the awaited day arrived… Haru’s first birthday since leaving the orphanage. The house filled with laughter and joy, and the children gathered around the large table covered with colorful gifts. Ren smiled, happy that his adopted brother would finally have a special day.
Haruto entered with his usual smile, accompanied by his bully friends. He approached Ren and said in a feigned tone: “Oh, Ren… I brought a gift for your dear brother Haru. Make it a surprise for him, and don’t tell him I’m the one who brought it.”
Ren was puzzled by his words, but he nodded in agreement, thinking Haruto meant no harm on this special day.
The children began presenting their gifts one after another, and Haru’s face lit up with happiness as he opened each box. It was the first time in his life he had received so much love. But when Haruto’s turn came, Haru felt a strange tension. He stretched out his trembling hands to open the box… and suddenly froze in place.
Inside the box… were his old, worn-out clothes from the orphanage. It turned out Haruto had secretly gone to the orphanage and convinced the director to give him those old clothes!
The smile froze on Haru’s face before turning into overwhelming anger and sorrow. He screamed and tried to punch his brother, but the children quickly pulled him away, making him even angrier. He pushed everyone aside forcefully and ran to his room, tears burning his eyes.
At that moment, Haruto burst into loud laughter—he hadn’t expected his plan to succeed so terribly! But Ren, who finally realized what Haruto had done, couldn’t restrain himself. Despite his weakness, he stepped forward and punched Haruto with all his strength.
Haruto shouted angrily and tried to lunge at Ren, but the other children stopped him. At that moment, the parents entered, having heard the screams and commotion. When the father learned what had happened, his face changed with anger, and he immediately ordered:“Haruto! You and your friends… get out of this house now!”
Haruto and his friends left under a heavy silence, while Haru’s tears continued to pour in his room—a new wound etched into his heart on a day that was supposed to be his most beautiful.
At first, Haruto chuckled with malicious delight, intoxicated by the success of his plan that shattered Haru’s heart. But suddenly, one of his friends, Kaito, stepped forward, glaring at him with angry eyes and said:“Have you lost your mind, Haruto?! How far will you go with your cruelty?!”
Haruto turned sharply toward him: “What’s your problem?! Aren’t you supposed to have cooperated with me?!”
Kaito took a deep breath, trying to control his nerves, then said in a cold tone: “Our friendship ends here, Haruto… I can no longer tolerate your actions.”
Haruto’s face flushed with anger, and he waved his hand dismissively: “Too bad… I didn’t expect you to fail and betray me, Kaito.”
Then he turned and walked away, giving him a contemptuous look.
As he walked away, he felt a strange emptiness in his chest for a moment, but he quickly ignored it, as if something inside him refused to acknowledge regret.
Moments later, Ryūji appeared, sneaking quietly from Ren’s house. Haruto approached him angrily and asked:“Where were you?! Why did you disappear at this moment?!”
Ryūji smiled a sarcastic smile and replied in his usual nonchalant voice: “when I was in the bathroom longer than expected… and I heard something interesting.”
Haruto raised an eyebrow with interest: “What did you hear?”
Ryūji leaned in slightly and whispered: “After everyone left, I heard Ren’s parents talking about a festival that will be held at Mount Fuji.”
A sinister smile spread across Haruto’s face, as if a devilish mind began planning a new round of revenge: “Hah… it seems fate is giving me another chance.”
Meanwhile, Ren stood in front of Haru’s door, trying every possible way to calm his brother, who refused to respond. He knocked gently and said:“Haru… I’m truly sorry. I didn’t expect any of this to happen. Believe me, I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Silence still hung over the room, but Ren continued: “Listen… we’re going to the Mount Fuji festival soon. If you don’t want to come, it’s okay. I’ll just leave my gift behind the door.”
Ren placed a small box in front of the door, then slowly walked away, hoping his brother would regain his smile one day—unaware that a new storm of evil awaited them at Mount Fuji…
The following day, the family set out for the Mount Fuji Festival, where the air was filled with joy and vibrant colors. Fireworks lit up the sky, and the sounds of music blended with the laughter of children. Everything seemed perfect… except for Haru, who remained silent, his face pale, as if his heart could feel no joy.
Ren tried to speak to him gently, but Haru didn’t respond. As time passed, the crowd grew denser, and chaos spread through the place. Then, in a single moment, amid all the noise, Ren disappeared.
Haru immediately noticed the missing wheelchair and rushed through the crowd, searching for his brother. The family soon realized that both children were gone. At first, they thought Haru had gone with Ren to play or buy something, but the shocking truth quickly became clear — the children had vanished.
Haru ran as fast as he could, desperately searching for Ren. Despite his resentment toward him — for he had never truly liked him — fear gripped his heart. He hadn’t even opened the gift Ren had given him, but now his conscience tormented him: What if he’s gone? What if something terrible happened to him? What will the family do if he’s hurt?
Far from the festival, at a desolate rocky cliff, Ren was being dragged forcefully. The jagged rocks below awaited their victim, and the cold wind slapped his terrified face. Standing before him were three figures: Haruto, wearing a twisted smile; Ryoji, laughing his usual mocking laugh; and a large, shadowy man with dark, grim features.
With a trembling voice, Ren shouted, “What are you doing?! Have you lost your minds?!”
But Haruto didn’t answer. His silence spoke louder than words, as if he was savoring Ren’s fear. He gripped a long metal rod, raising it high, ready to strike, and said,“ Ah, poor Ren… You could’ve just stayed quiet, and nothing would’ve happened. But no — you had to cross me, all for someone else, your so-called adoptive brother, not even your real one. Do you know why I got close to you in the first place? I’ve always felt lonely and humiliated. My father never cared about me — always working, never listening, not even when I tried to greet him. Even when I got top grades or proved myself, he didn’t care. And my mother? She’s always busy too, working alongside my father, dealing with businessmen and people in high positions. She only talks to me when she wants to know if I’ve done well or not.
But you… even though you’re a sick child from a modest family, you have what I’ve always wanted — a family that cares for you, people who love you. Everyone praises you, admires you, even though you’re just a weak, useless patient! I hate you, Ren. I hate everything about you — your kindness, your courage, your weakness — everything!”
After that, Haruto fell silent. The air grew heavy with stillness. He tightened his grip on the metal rod, raised it high once more, and prepared to deliver the fatal blow to Ren.
At that very moment, Haru appeared just in time, shouting, “Leave my brother alone, you bastards!”
His eyes gleamed with both anger and fear. The distant sounds of the festival faded away, replaced by the pounding of his heart and his ragged breaths. There, at the edge of the cliff, as the rain poured heavily, Haruto ordered the metal rod to be moved away from Ren and told Ryoji to keep an eye on him, while commanding the mysterious man to follow him.
The angry man snapped impatiently, “When will all this end so I can get my money?”
Haruto smiled coldly and replied, “You have a very simple task. See that pathetic boy over there? Your job is to break every bone in his body, then finish him off — and you’ll get your money.”
But before Haruto could finish his words, Haru hurled his small body toward them, trying to save Ren. The mysterious man, however, was far stronger. He struck Haru with a boxer’s precision, sending him crashing to the ground, blood streaming from his nose.
Ren tried to do something to help his brother, but Ryoji stopped him, shouting, “Do anything, and you’ll see what happens to you!”
The mysterious man began breaking Haru’s arms one after the other, trying to cripple him. But in a desperate moment, Haru bit the man’s leg hard, forcing him to fall to the ground. Despite the pain, Haru stood up, grabbed a large rock with all his strength, and smashed it against the man’s head, knocking him unconscious.
Haruto froze in shock, his twisted smile turning into a look of madness. He grabbed a metal rod and attacked Haru with wild, uncontrolled swings. Blood splattered from Haru’s wounds, but he dodged the blows by sheer instinct, until he managed to strike back — hitting Haruto’s head with a rock and knocking him out for a few moments.
Ryoji began to panic as the scene spiraled out of control. He screamed threateningly, “Do anything, and I’ll throw your little brother off the cliff! I’ll kill him!”
But he suddenly stumbled backward, his body slamming into a sharp rock — killing him instantly.
Ren, meanwhile, had been pushed toward the edge, but at the last moment, he managed to cling to a rock with his hands.
Haru ran with all his strength, trying to grab his brother’s hand. Behind him, Haruto began to rise, clutching his bleeding head. The pain didn’t matter — only his
rage at his failed plan. He lifted a massive rock and charged toward Haru, intent on crushing him.
In a desperate act, Ren grabbed another rock and hurled it with all his strength at Haruto, knocking him to the ground.
Haru tried to pull his brother up from the edge, but the rocks couldn’t bear Ren’s weight — they suddenly gave way.
Ren fell… his body crashing against the jagged rocks below, pierced instantly. A dreadful silence filled the air.
Haru froze, his eyes widening in unbearable shock. Blood poured from Ren’s wounds, and his soul slipped away in an instant.
Haru looked at Haruto, his sorrow twisting into feral rage. Haruto tried to rise despite the pain, but Haru lunged at him with all his strength, striking him wildly — without mercy, without reason. His fists rained down on Haruto’s face and body until his hands were drenched in blood.
Before Haru could finish him off, the sound of police sirens and ambulances filled the air, as the authorities rushed to the scene after receiving the report.
