Chapter 322: War Council

Several peaceful weeks had passed and my day had started quite nicely. I woke up surrounded by fluff! My fiancée's tails were amazing and I spent some time cuddling them until Lucy stirred.

We made our way to breakfast and I was enjoying my coffee when Minerva entered.

"My ladies, there are new reports from our scouts. Lilith has asked for a meeting to discuss the situation."

"Right now?" Lucy asked, holding a buttered piece of toast in her hand.

"After breakfast." Minerva answered with a smile.

"I am sure Lilith would not mind if we brought snacks." I added. It reminded me of our first meeting.

And so we found ourselves in a meeting room with all the important people being present, including Meluza. The demon lord was a frequent guest of Lilith these days.

As the meeting began I retrieved a bag of crisps. Lilith actually laughed seeing them, then she stole one with telekinesis. My interruption led to a bit of idle conversation, then the meeting became serious.

"I have deployed several succubi to keep an eye on our enemies and they are beginning to move. Abaddon has secured the help of Levathius and Focalor. All three of them are preparing their armies. Pazuzu has not joined them yet but he might use the situation to attack Meluza." Lilith began.

Meluza looked nervous, and slightly afraid.

Lilith continued: "Ashema is still an unknown. I have leaked all of our information to her and she seems hesitant to fully join Abaddon. My best guess is she will wait and see if an opportunity arises."

"Could we bribe her?" Kira asked.

"She does not quite align with Amaya's world view." Lilith replied.

  "In what way?" I asked.

"She is rather cruel and likes to dominate people. If you ever visited her lands I suspect you would start a fight with her." Lilith replied. "But if she is convinced that we will win she might grab some territory from the other demon lords while they are fighting us."

"How big are their armies?" Iris asked.

"Focalor's legions are well trained and quite formidable. He might field about 10 000 well equipped demons. Levathius mostly fields monstrous demons. They are not known for teamwork and just rampage. In a best case they will disrupt Focalor's troops. Expect about 500 rather strong demons and quite a bit of fodder. Then we have Abaddon. His troops are not quite as disciplined as Focalor's but he might bring about 1000 soldiers." Lilith said.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

  "That's a lot of demons." I mused.

"That's a lot of slaughter! This will be amazing!" Shani added, enthusiastically.

"I am afraid of using our mortal soldiers." Iris said. "Even with better equipment I would not send them against a demonic legion. We only have a few maid knights and the dryads. With Haruka's tree inside hell they might be able to move their humanoid bodies to the frontline."

"I can field about 1000 succubi." Lilith said. "However, this battle will not be won by troops. Our forces should protect the city. We can evacuate civilians through the portal to the mortal realm. The true fight will be between us and the demon lords."

Kira frowned. "Aren't you underestimating the demonic legions? They might not throw tier 9 spells around but even tier three magic will wear you down over time."

"Depends." I replied. "Like, I am immune to lightning and resistant to most elements. I can regenerate faster than tier three fire ray can damage me. However, I will tire eventually and they will certainly have weapons that can pierce my skin. Numbers can be a problem, sure, but their elites will be the true challenge. I suspect an army with 10 000 will have like 100 we have to truly worry about."

Lilith nodded. "Our combined auras will unleash a lot of damage to the regular troops. I could level a city myself and despite being in the third aura stage Amaya is still above me. All they can hope for is to exhaust us. The elites are a concern though. Each lord will have some bodyguards with them. If we want to be successful we need to challenge the demon lords."

"An ancient lord is above me." Kira replied.

Lilith nodded. "Your job would be to engage some elites and possibly slow the army. Essentially we will hold and defend the city with our troops while we personally challenge the lords. After they fall their armies will fall. Abaddon is technically among the strongest but he is focusing on lightning."

  I grinned.

"While that makes him look like a snack for Amaya at first, he is also resistant to lightning himself."

"I can handle resistance." I replied. My own lightning had a piercing effect. I wondered if that had actually become even more powerful since I had grown myself but unless he was immune he would just be helpless. Also, I was not that bad with a weapon and had some other elemental magic.

"If you could take him out without using too many resources it would be great. Next we have Focalor. He likes to use fire. He is more of a general than a fighter but he is still an ancient demon lord. I have been thinking about challenging him myself. I am quite resistant to fire and my abilities should be good at dealing with his guards. His personal guards will include a minor demon lord." Lilith summarised.

"You should take Lily with you." I suggested.

"That would be helpful. I will certainly bring Erin as well." Lilith replied. "That leaves Levathius and possibly Pazuzu. Since Levathius is more of a monster maybe Lucy can face him. Her Kitsune form is quite good at brawling."

  "Sounds like fun." Lucy replied.

"He is the strongest in personal combat, so you might just have to delay him until we can reinforce you. Hopefully Amaya can finish her battle quickly." Lilith said.

"Maybe Kira can back you up." I suggested. "We have the dryads, the remaining maids and Lilith's forces to protect the city. Kira and Lucy face Levathius, Lilith, Erin and Lily face Focalor and I will take Abaddon. Shani just slaughters things somewhere. But what about Meluza?"

  "I can't face Pazuzu alone…" She said.

"He does not seem directly allied but I expect him to make a move during the battle. If you can hold out long enough we can help you afterwards. But maybe the best course of action is for you to join the city's defence. Pazuzu is not much of a direct fighter, we have to worry about his plagues instead." Lilith replied.

"Maybe Josef can help, or Thessia. I think they are our best bet against such an attack." I mused.

Lilith nodded. "I will contact them. Any news from Izanami?" She asked.

I shook my head. "She has not committed to anything."

"Do we know when they will attack?" Lucy asked.

"No but within the next month, most likely. As long as we can keep Ashema from the battle I like our chances. But she is an assassin. If she decides to attack we might not see it coming." Lilith warned.

"Hm. I have developed some sensors since the Dominion spy incident. Maybe we can deploy some and at least see her coming." I suggested.

"Good, let's work on that." Lilith said.

This would be the largest battle since I had entered this world. I briefly pondered if I should have tried to go for godhood but I dismissed the idea. No, I liked it here. I did not need to be a god, what I really needed was my fluffy fiancée by my side. Together we could certainly crush those lords.
