  The item that Lady Violet gave me was supposed to be placed on my baby’s cradle for good luck, but first, I sent it to an expert on charms for testing. She reported that it was merely a mundane painted wooden bead with no charm added to it. I examined it myself, of course, and saw no writings or carved symbols.
