The barracks of the garrison, of course, matched the grandeur of the rest of the building. Ornate furniture, carpets, and another magnificent ceiling painting adorned their quarters.
The entire complex contained four such barracks, each with enough space for 50 people. One of these quarters, however, was reserved for recruits. They were expected to settle in during their first few days and move to the other barracks within a week.
San was once again staring at a painting, this time the ceiling mural in their quarters.
It depicted a fountain of darkness erupting from the ground and a dark swordsman standing against it.
"Do you think these paintings are just fantasy artwork, or do they really depict actual events? What do you all think?"
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The others were still unpacking. San had already finished long ago. While they had been chatting, he had efficiently set up his space.
"Huh? No idea! Do you really think that’s supposed to be based on real events? Are you dumb?"
"No, I’m just saying—who knows what Ea was like before Nyd appeared?"
"We can go to the museum later! I’m sure the staff there will pat you on the head and tell you it’s true, just to make you feel better. Meanwhile, they’ll laugh at your childish imagination behind your back."
Everyone burst out laughing.
Though San generally got along well with the others, he sometimes felt like he was only there to be the "class clown."
"Anyway… are we exploring the city as a group or on our own?"
"I’d say as a group. It’s definitely more fun together."
"Yeah, I think so too."
"Same here!"
"Count me in!"
They quickly agreed on their group size and began discussing their plans.
"First, we need to get some real food. I’m sick of that tavern slop we’ve been eating for days!"
Everyone agreed on that.
Afterward, they decided to head to the museum and explore the city further along the way.
