Wang Weihu gave an awkward smile, "Oh, well, since the base is sealed off and we have nothing to do, we just stockpiled some food. Please, come in. Is there something you need?"
Xiao Qiao didn’t stand on ceremony. She slipped on shoe covers at the door and said, "I’m just showing a new recruit around. This is Miao Miao, a Ragdoll Cat Mutant. She just started working in our community. The higher-ups noticed everyone’s been feeling down lately, so they’re planning a New Year’s Eve party to lift everyone’s spirits."
Miao Miao followed her in and spoke softly, "That’s why the leadership sent me to organize the New Year’s Eve party for our neighborhood. The goal is to encourage mutants to actively participate in performances."
From now on, Miao Miao would be responsible for managing the mutants in this area. If there were any issues, people could report them to her, and she would escalate them to the leadership.
Her role was to ensure everyone could live comfortably. For instance, if mutants planted fruit trees in the morning and were stopped by ability users, leading to an argument, she would step in.
While arguments among ability users might not seem like a big deal, mutants, due to their genetic mutations, often retained some animalistic traits, such as being more timid. Such conflicts could easily frighten them.
Miao Miao’s job was to provide comfort and act as a sort of psychological counselor, focusing on the emotional well-being and living conditions of mutants.
So today, she was just familiarizing herself with the area. She had already visited the G Building, where everyone was quite friendly. However, Xu Duoduo, the little zombie, was different. She was the only mutant in the entire base living among ability users.
Miao Miao, being a Ragdoll Cat Mutant, was naturally timid. However, she was also a big fan of 3A, practically a fangirl, so when she was assigned this task, she felt both excited and nervous.
Luckily, she was picked up by Xiao Qiao, who happened to be passing by, and Xiao Qiao accompanied her here.
Upon hearing this, Qin Luo couldn’t help but tease, "Oh, Miss Qiao is being so kind today? Weren’t you just trying to trick me out of my points yesterday and attempting to abduct our little zombie? Tsk, tsk, tsk."
Chen Xiaofei chimed in curiously, "Right, I heard Xiao Qiao loves dissecting and making specimens. But you also seem to like cute things. So, which is it? Do you prefer scary stuff or cute stuff?"
As soon as Xiao Qiao entered, she began looking around for Xu Duoduo. Hearing their comments, she rolled her eyes. "Those things don’t conflict! Anyway, this is just a simple home visit! You all better cooperate with the survey and make sure you haven’t been bullying our little zombie baby."
Finally, her gaze locked onto the little zombie in the kitchen, and her voice softened with excitement, "Baby!! I’m here! Oh, baby, what are you doing? You’re such a good baby. How could they let you cook?"
Xiao Qiao rushed over to Xu Duoduo and hugged her tightly, rubbing her cheek against hers.
Qin Luo immediately sprang up, his temper flaring, "Hey, hey, hey! Don’t just hug her randomly! Is she yours to hug?!"

He quickly rushed over to reclaim his little zombie.
Bai Shu adjusted his glasses, looking somewhat horrified. "Women really are unpredictable creatures."
He noted how Xiao Qiao acted one way around them and completely differently around Xu Duoduo.
Chen Xiaofei nodded in agreement, "Terrifying, absolutely terrifying. So, Miss Kitty, come over here. If you have any questions, just ask."
His sunny smile was warm and inviting.
Miao Miao couldn’t help but think to herself: Like a little sun!
She was instantly moved. "Thank you, thank you. I didn’t expect you all to be so approachable."
Hearing this, Bai Shu chuckled, "So, what exactly do people outside think of us now?"
Wang Weihu poured her a cup of tea.
Miao Miao was flattered and a little overwhelmed. "Ah, thank you. Actually, people don’t say much. It’s just that since you 3A folks are so fierce in fights and have such strong combat power, and you look so cool when taking down monsters, everyone assumes you’re pretty aloof and hard to approach."
She paused, recalling something amusing. "And on the forums, when someone mocked the little zombie, you all collectively went after them. That was… intense."
Some survivors from other combat teams or those rescued by 3A had also mentioned that you all seemed cold and difficult to get along with. Wang Weihu was considered the most approachable, but even he occasionally yelled at people—for their own good, of course.
But who would’ve thought?
Privately, you all are like this. No wonder the little zombie isn’t afraid of you.
Miao Miao glanced around. The room was cozy and warm. She hadn’t expected a mutant like Xu Duoduo to have such a soft heart, nor had she expected the rest of the 3A team to be here.
She was honestly a little shocked.
Chen Xiaofei grinned, showing his teeth. "Ah, we’re just regular people. How could we act like gods all the time? That’d just be pretentious."
Still, the contrast was too much!
Miao Miao couldn’t help but bite her lip to suppress her laughter, especially seeing them seriously peeling garlic and preparing vegetables. It was hilarious.
3A was just too cute in private.
Xiao Qiao, however, wasn’t surprised. The last time she visited, they were all here too. So, as Qin Luo chased her out of the kitchen, she commented, "They may seem rough around the edges, but they’re actually quite thoughtful. As much as I hate to admit it, they do take great care of the zombie baby."
Miao Miao quickly started taking notes. She pulled out her tablet and began asking questions. "Since you’re all here, let’s do a basic survey. You just need to answer the questions. We want to know if mutants and ability users can get along well, and whether there are any inconveniences in living together."
For example, the issue of mutants being timid. But it seemed like the 3A team didn’t have that problem.
Bai Shu calmly adjusted his glasses and smiled, "No problem, go ahead and ask."
Chen Xiaofei, busy peeling garlic, nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, yeah, don’t hold back. Ask whatever you want. If we know the answer, we’ll tell you. If not, just ask our Brother Qin. He knows the little squad leader better than we do."
He deliberately raised his voice, "Isn’t that right, Brother Qin~~?"
From the kitchen, Qin Luo shouted back for him to shut up and mind his own business.
Bai Shu chuckled quietly.
Wang Weihu carried out a large basket of vegetables. As he moved, his muscular arms and chest caught the light, making Miao Miao blush involuntarily.
Who was this little zombie girl to remain so unaffected by a house full of handsome men?
Miao Miao doubted she could survive in such an environment. She’d be blushing, her heart racing, and then she’d probably faint!
"Alright, let’s begin. First question: Do you know enough about your mutant teammate? What does she like to eat? Does she have any hobbies?"
Miao Miao shyly stared at her tablet, not daring to look up, waiting for their answers.
Chen Xiaofei immediately piped up, "Oh, I know this one! But, uh, Brother Qin—" He turned toward the kitchen and raised his voice again, "Should we answer this? Or do you want to handle it?"
He was clearly doing this on purpose.
Qin Luo’s voice came from the kitchen, telling him to stop messing around. "You answer your own questions. I can hear everything from here!"
Bai Shu smiled and said, "The little squad leader is like Xiaofei—she’s a foodie. She likes almost everything and isn’t picky, but there are some things she can’t eat."
Chen Xiaofei scratched his chin thoughtfully and added, "As for her hobbies, she loves hoarding stuff."
Wang Weihu nodded in agreement. "Since we’re part of the same team, we definitely understand each other. Plus, we were middle school classmates, so we’ve got a foundation."
