A few bits of news:
1) Law of the Swarm is updating again! The new update schedule will be M-W-F at 10PM EST, but I pn to go up to six chapters per week after I've built up a small backlog.
2) I've gone back and re-edited the old chapters. I've already finished chapters 1-100, but chapters 101 up are only mostly edited. I still need to make a final pass on those, which should take another day or two.
I've made tons of little changes and fixes, like switching thoughts to single quotes instead of double quotes, fixing a crazy amount of errors, trying to properly use "had" for past-past tense (literally the hardest part of the writing/editing process), changing "butterfly rva" to "caterpilr," and much more.
The biggest change is that I've switched to using male and female pronouns for many characters. For anyone familiar with Chinese transtions, you probably already know that any creatures that aren't human or human-like are almost always called "it."
I also originally went with "it" for most characters, since that's what novels like Mythical Era that have amazing transtors do. Plus, the author doesn't even reveal whether some characters (like Aura) are male or female until they've been around for 50+ chapters, so I basically had to default to "it" for them, anyway.
Honestly, though, "it" just sounds awful.
Including the old chapters, male characters are now "he," female characters are now "she" (including the non-queen ants, who are females that can't reproduce), and "it" is reserved for any creatures where we don't know what they are yet.
Hopefully you'll also think the updated pronouns sound a million times better.
3) I'm writing a novel! This account is dedicated to transtions, so I started another to post my original novel Walking the Jade Path. It has a Xianxia setting, but without all the things I've grown to dislike about the genre over the years. I think it's pretty neat!
See you in two days with chapter 145!
