*Jasper's POV

  "Annabell?" I tried softly after few moments of listening to her evehing. She fell asleep sitting up. I had to suppress a chuckle to not startle her awake. Her head hung low, f her neto an unnatural position and she suddenly started sn, waking herself up. I couldn't stifle my ughter any longer. "Do you intend on sleeping sitting here?" I asked, caressing her cheek.

  She looked little disoriented before warily asking. "Was I sn just now?" Making me ugh more, when she covered her mouth, blushing.

  "I love this sound." Annabell whispered."What sound, angel?" I was fused."Of you, ughing." She admitted."Umm, could you do me a favor please?" She asked a moment ter."Anything, my love." Right now I was ready to do anything to keep her happy.

  " you carry me to my bed please? Or I will really sleep here like this. I... don't think I walk now." She admitted embarrassed. It made me smile again before I realized the most likely reason for her request and ched my jaw.

  "Does you ankle hurt?" Ann's injured ankle is a reminder of Edward nearly succeeding in killing my mate on his first attempt.

  "No, no. I'm not sure what Michae did but my ankle feels pletely healed now." She looked lost in thoughts for a moment before exg "Oh, that's handy." fusing me again.

  "What is, angel?" I couldn't keep from asking and Annabell giggled.

  "Apparently, my power does that on its own now. But I... uhmm... feel too weak to even stand up right now, to be ho." She was always so hesitant to admit any sort of weakness and I never seen her pin about any task she was faced with. I couldn't but admire my strong aiful soulmate.

  "Ah, I see. That's nothing to be embarrassed about, Ann. Remember st time you used your power?" The moment those words left my mouth I regretted reminding her of how she was forced to attack me to protect Peter because it made her grimad I k was out of guilt. I gently caressed her cheek to let her know I don't bme her for doing it. "Stop bming yourself, please. It was my fault, you had to stop me. If you didn't... I would definitely kill Peter."

  Annabell sighed but rexed so I tinued. "What I'm talking about is that at that time it exhausted you to the point of losing sciousness. Today you not only stayed standing, you walked all the way home afterwards. Yetting stronger, my love." I was so proud of her.

  She didn't say anything anymore and I saw her starting to fall asleep again. Carefully scooping her up in my arms, I started slowly walking, takio her room. After just few steps I felt her pletely rex, indig she was asleep. I was taking my time gettio her bedroom, enjoying that I could keep her in my arms for a little while again.

  Holdihis close, I felt like my dead heart could melt from her warmth. She became my sun and the whole day I spent without her made me feel so cold. What a strange feeling for a vampire to have. I thought to myself.

  "Tht." Annabell mumbled making me wonder what she's dreaming about because the only light around us was soft moonlight ing from outside, through the window. Then she smiled whispering "Horses..." I stared at her adorable sleeping face for a moment, remembering the night I found her sleeping by the piree. Is there a ce you dream about me, my angel? After two sleepless turies I wished I could dream again, only to be able to dream about her.

  Laying my sleepiy on her bed, ing a b around her I pced a gentle kiss in her hair. Sadly I didn't find an opportunity to mention that I'm going to go hunt before m, to Annabell again. And as much as I didn't want to leave her side, there was ahing that called for my departure. However shortly, it felt wrong leaving her side when I just got her back. "Sweet dreams, my beloved. I will return soon." I whispered to her hair a outside.

  In front of Annabell's house was standier, obviously waiting for me. He knew what awaited me and just nodded. "Take care."

  I squeezed his shoulder. "Keep her safe, please. Whatever it takes. I'll return as fast as possible." And I left.

  I was lucky in terms of hunting today. I found a bear and two wolfs not too far from each other, making my hunt really short.

  Satiated I went on to deal with the less pleasurable duty. I had to inform Carlisle of tonight's events and that his son is no more.

  ing close to Cullen's house I sent Carlisle message to meet me outside. He appeared in an instant. "Jasper, wele." He greeted me fused. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

  "I'm sorry Carlisle but I have bad news for you. I found my mate." I started expining and his fusion deepened.  "But that is great news, Jasper! Why would it be bad?" His perplexed smile disappeared when I tinued.  "Edward tried to kill her few days ago and I killed him tonight, when he came after her again." He was shocked and sad but uood, slightly surprising me.

  "I'm sorry, Jasper. I just 't believe that Edward would... again...ah son, why?" He sighed, shaking his head and suddenly looked older and tired. "I uand you had to proteate, Jasper. I'm just not sure how to tell Esme. It will break her heart." His voice was quiet and expression pained when he looked back towards the house.

  "Carlisle... there's something else you should know about Edward." I tinued. He has to know. "The woman on the road two years ago... Edward admitted killihat woman was my mate's mother and it seems that Edward was w with someone who is still after my mate as we speak. I know for sure they were inside her house already, so if you hear or find something unusual or e across anyone suspicious in the area, I'll greatly appreciate if you let me know." He was shocked and enormously disappointed by the news about Edward but he nodded.

  "Of course, that's the least I do, since member of my family endangered yours. Thank you for telling me. May I know who is she?" He was just curious.

  "Her name is Annabell, she's a human." I wasn't pletely lying, Annabell is a human to some extent. "She already knows about our world a with Rosalie at at school. Now she's worried what your family might do in revenge, bming herself." Now I shook my head in disbelief. She always thought about others first. "May I truthfully reassure her, that she is safe from all Cullens?" I inquired, leaving few details about Ann's immortality and gift out.

  "That... I would love to agree to. However, seeing h I was about Edward... I won't hold a grudge agaiher of you, as much as it pains me, were the roles reversed I'd do the same. Esme will be heartbroken but wouldn't want to harm anyone, much less an i girl.

  Regarding Rose at... " As if he called for her, Rosalie's beautiful, blond form appeared behind one of the gsses shielding their baly, stopping iracks wheiced me. She stood there looking at me. 'I'm sorry.' I mouthed to her. I watched her frown and then to my fusion and surprise she just nodded and disappeared again. "..they will probably be sad about it for a while, Rose might not like your mate too much because of it, but she won't take any as against her. That, I know." tinued Carlisle. "You really are a brother to her, Jasper. I always wondered why you don't stay with us." Carlisle always wanted me to join his .

  "I've been always grateful to you and your , but I have my own family." He lifted his hands in front of him in surrender.  "I know, I know." Thehought for a moment. "I am worried about Alice. I would love to reassure you, that she won't do anything... but I really 't. I will try and talk to her though."

  "Thank you, Carlisle." I grabbed his outstretched hand, shaking it firmly as he patted my shoulder and we said oodbyes.
