Chapter 1

As I woke up, I remembered the crab, the feeling of cold helplessness and the feeling of dying.

  Dying.

  Didn’t I die?

As I thought about it, I noticed something. I wasn’t at the beach anymore, but in a forest.

It looked a bit like the one near my home, but there were no buildings or roads nearby, only trees and a fresh breeze. And my head didn't hurt.

  Is this my afterlife?

  What?

I recalled the screen I saw right before my death, this one looking much like it.

  Again, what?

  What is happening?

New name?! But my name already is-

  My name…

How did I forget my name?

“No it's not!” I finally spoke up, the stress getting to me.

The screen didn’t show up again, I sighed as I calmed down a little.

I didn’t feel like myself anymore, having forgotten my name.

  “Screen?”

  “What are you?"

  “What am I?”

Are these my stats? Am I in a game or what?

And what are available classes? Can I use them?

  What are they for?

  “Classes?”

  “Available Classes.”

  Oh.

Can I pick all of them? Geomancer sounds cool, but I wonder how basic the control over minerals is.

  “[Geologist], [Mason], [Geomancer]!”

Cool, but how do I do that? Scrap that, I have bigger problems. Where the hell am I?

“That doesn’t tell me anything, you know?”

“Fine, but at least answer my most important question”

  “Why am I naked?”

“I guess that makes sense, but couldn’t you at least give me something to put on?”

The breeze is pretty chilly in my defense.

  …

“I’ll take that as a no. What should I do now? How do I get back?”

  I kind of expected that.

Danger?! What danger? And why is it close?

As I pondered on it, I heard some rustling behind some fallen leaves.

A reptilian head the size of my fist came out of the leaves, the rustling turned into hissing.

It's a snake! Hate those guys!

And so, I ran as fast as I could.

I looked back only to see the snake catching up to me.

And it wasn’t just any snake, it was a big one.
