Chapter 167: Alchemical Technology of the Main World

Chapter 167: Alchemical Teology of the Main World

  “Damn it!”

Watg the potion on his workbench explode, Alex couldn’t help but curse. He sighed helplessly and casually tossed the broken pieces into the nearby trash bin.

Retly, Alex had a lot of free time. While Nanalie worked on alchemical treatments for slime skin and body fluids under his orders, Alex decided to dabble in alchemy himself. After all, with nothing else to do, why not learn something new?

However, progress in alchemy was far from as smooth as his studies in magic.

If magic felt like writing code to Alex, then alchemy was more like an intricate bination of material physid chemistry. The essence of an alchemist's craft y in researg the core properties of materials, enhang, modifying, and transf them. They used teiques like entment, f, and reinfort to stabilize and harheir effects.

g was Alex’s forte, but materials sd chemistry? Not so much. As of now, Alex ractically starting from scratch.

What happeo the physid chemistry he learned in school? He’d hahem back to his teachers after graduation.

“Looks like I’m just not cut out for stific research. Better stick to being a programmer,” Alex shrugged, gng at the shattered potion bottle oable.

The most frustrating part? He had followed the "patented formu" provided by the Alchemists’ Guild to the letter, meticulously adhering to each step. Yet, the potion still exploded. He had no idea where it went wrong.

The only area of alchemy where Alex showed any aptitude was in enting. Thanks to his past experien designing gaming hardware, he had some insights ig magic arrays and eling energy. While his progress was slow, his accuracy was impeccable—rgely because his future vision allowed him to skip most trial-and-error mistakes.

  Oher hand, Ikaros…

  “All done, Master!”

“Well done. Here, have some cake.”

Alex patted Ikaros on the head as she beamed and presented a pleted potion to him. Then, he pulled out a piece of cake. At the sight of the dessert, the little angel let out a delighted cheer, eagerly taking a bite of the cream-covered treat. She closed her eyes with a look of pure bliss.

Unlike Alex, Ikaros seemed to excel in this highly precise field. Seeing her enthusiasm, Alex began to sider her potential seriously. Ikaros couldn’t use magic, but if she mastered alchemy, she could protect herself to some extent.

After all, alchemists in this world weren’t defenseless. They could use potions to simute spells or craft ented equipment to defend themselves a enemies. While Ikaros was outstanding in support roles, her bat ability was dismal, barely surpassing that of a beginner-level adventurer in the Main World.

If alchemy could pensate for this weakness, it would be a signifit improvement.

Ikaros uood this well. She poured herself into learning alchemy with tireless dedication. Although Alex khat artificial angels didn’t need food or sleep, watg her study so relentlessly still tugged at his heart. The least he could do was reward her with her favorite sweets.

  “How’s the progress?”

Sipping his tea, Alex asked casually. Ikaros nodded while sav her cake.

“Very smooth, Master. Miss Nanalie has already perfected the alchemical treatment for slime skin. If we adapt the alchemical teiques of this world to achieve the same data output as in the Iron-Blooded World, we’ll be all set. Regarding the fertilizer project, I’ve identified a formu for a strengthening agent. Ohe tests firm its safety, it’ll be ready for submission. The current issue is…”

  “Insuffit supply?”

Alex raised an eyebrow. Slimes, much like wild boars, were an insistent resource. While ly rare, their avaibility was unreliable. If it were up to Alex, he’d set up a slime farm, much like modern pig farming.

  “Leave that to me.”

Since alchemy didn’t seem to be his strong suit, Alex decided to focus on other matters. Setting up a slime farm would require substantial funds, but money wasn’t an issue for him. His ventures in the Death Exge had earned him hefty rewards, and it would be a waste not to spend it.

As for what to do ohe money runs out? Just go out and hunt again.

After all, there were tless evil people in the world awaiting the justice they deserved. How could Alex, as a Padin, possibly turn a blio sujustice?

There were so many people suffering in the world. If Alex indulged in luxury while ign them, how could he live with his sce?

All of this was for the sake of freedom and justice—democracy!

Thinking along these lines, Alex left the workshop and walked down the hillside. In the distance, he could see a massive, semi-transparent dome-like tent standing tall. When Alex ehe tent, the first thiiced was a stretch of farmnd that had been cultivated, along with several farmers holding tools and chatting nearby.

The leading man turo Alex with a smile as he approached.

  “Ah, young man, you’re here.”

  “Just cheg in, Uncle Hank.”

Alex smiled and the man before asking, “How’s everything going?”

“It’s amazing! Say, where did you get that thing you call fertilizer? I’ve been farming my whole life, and I’ve never seen crops grow this fast. And this tent—you’re telling me you farm during winter with this thing? Incredible!”

After harvesting materials from slimes, Alex had instructed Nanalie and Ikaros to replicate the greenhouse designs he remembered from the Iron-Blooded World. He theed a piece of nd and hired people to experiment with farming. Growing up iy, Alex knew nothing about farming, so he wisely left it to the professionals.

At first, the local farmers were skeptical of Alex’s unventional methods, but moalks. Tossing a few gold s their way quickly secured their cooperation. As Nanalie had pointed out, farmers had little to d the harsh winter months. Some ventured into the mountains to hunt, while others idled away their time. With a paying job that involved familiar farming tasks, it wasn’t a hard sell.

Initially, the farmers didn’t think much of Nanalie’s “greenhouse.” Acc to Uncle Hank, the workshop had a reputation for explosions every few days sinanalie had taken over. Some vilgers had even brought broken farm tools to her for repairs, only to find them returned in such altered states that they were pletely unusable.

As a result, people stopped issioning her, only visiting occasionally to buy potions for illnesses or injuries. This was why Nanalie’s workshop was struggling to stay afloat.

This time, they had assumed the straent was just another one of Nanalie’s peculiar iions. But now…

“It’s incredible, young man! Do you sell these? I want one! Oh, and that fertilizer stuff—I hat too!”

Uncle Hank wasn’t the only oed; the other farmers nearby were equally eager. Initially dismissive, they were now fully vinced of the greenhouse’s value.

This traption allowed crops to grow during winter without freezing to death! On top of that, the greeilizer had shocked the farmers. Even though the soil here was fertile, the growth they were witnessing was unpreted. After only a few days, the sprouts were already the height of a hand!

At this rate, they could probably harvest once a month. And for seasoned farmers, it was immediately obvious that the greenhouse offered immense advantages: no risk from wind, rain, or frost. Who wouldn’t be tempted?

“These are still in the experimental phase. If the trials go well, we’ll sider selling them through the Alchemists’ Guild,” Alex replied, not making any promises.

After all, this was just a prototype, and the rapid growth was rgely due to the fertilizer. While Ikaros had firmed that the fertilizer extracted from slimes was harmless, Alex wao wait until the experiments were pleted to be absolutely certain.

That said, so far… everything looked promising.
