{ B } Song of the Dead

Transcribed from early writings of Arul Kef Appid by magistress Ariry von Torfin. The orgin of the song as well as the language in which it was sang remains unknown. What follows is the modern translation of an incomplete manuscript damaged during the "Fire of one thousand days."

The song is most often attributed to the Rose of the Everooth and sometimes cited as part of the burial rites.

  In the morning mist,

  In the evening breeze,

  In the forest shade,

  In the meadow moss,

O lonely soul hear my song

  Come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

  Through the darkness of night

Through the pain of endless day

O lost soul hear my song

  Come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

  Starved and pained

  Scorched and banned

  Beaten and bashed

O tortured soul feel the melody and waver no more

  Come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

O troubled soul bask in the light

Leave thy misery behind in thy husk

Shatter the chains that bind you within

  Straighten your ways

  Abandon your sin

  Come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

O pitiful soul barred from death

  Hear my song

  Come to the light

  Dry your tears

  Open your eyes

  Follow my voice

  Shed rotting skin

  Feel the warmth

  Let the world go

  Come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

Seeking to sate the hunger that burns

Yearning for that what no longer is yours

Crying in vain at merciless stars

O broken soul come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

  Round and around

  Your days are spun

  Time have lost you forever

O timeless soul come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

  Alone in despair

  Locked in cruel fate

  Neither asleep nor wide awake

O dreamer come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

  Chasing the veil

  You cannot pass

  You are not free

O soul imprisoned come to the light

Come bask in warmth it beholds

  Calm your mind

  Steady your heart

  Strengthen your will

  The path beyond awaits

For you are not far from home

You are not far from home

You are not far from home

You are not far from home

  Come to the light

  Shed rotting skin

  Free the one trapped within

For you are not far from home

For you are not far from home

For you are not far from home
