Remnants of the Fire 11

Looking at the folder in his hands, Gun chuckled. He gnced over at Sandie’s wyer, then back at the documents and asked, “Is this all?”

He had heard everything from Troy, not to mention the valuable information he got from Chips after he left the hospital. The wyer looked at him, confused. “Yes, that is all the demands of my client. Do you wish to proceed?”

“And proceed how, if I might ask, I’m actually confused here. I thought Miss Sandie, and I were on good terms. Did I perhaps do something wrong?”

He raised a brow as he looked at Gun, “I’m sorry Mr Laedeke, but I do not understand.”

“Neither do I,” he said. “How about you help me arrange an appointment with Miss Sandie so that we can sort it out. She has access to a good amount of income that was put aside for her by the previous owner and she receives two percent of the company profits, I do not see why there is a need to give her almost eighty percent shares when she is well informed of how things work. The deal she had with Mr Diloknawarit still stands and hasn’t changed. Does she understand that what she is asking is for me to take away from our shareholders who have been with us since her father has been in charge? What does that say about me as the new president? I cannot and will not ruin my predecessor’s legacies.”

Holding his hand out, he said, “These are my clients’ instructions, Mr Laedeke.”

Gun looked down at the papers, then nodded his head, “I will get back to you. What your client wants won’t be easy to get.”

As he left, Gun pressed a button on the company telephone. “Delta, arrange for us to go to Switzernd. I miss my children.”

  “Yes, sir,” she answered.

Troy and Chips walked into his office, Troy with lunch, while Chips had a briefcase in his hand. Looking at the briefcase, he asked, “You got my money?”

  He nodded.

“Package it up. I’m going to throw it in her face when we see her.”

“Why do you think she’s doing this?” Chips asked.

“Because she’s greedy,” Gun answered with a smirk.

He frowned. “She wasn’t like this before.”

“Isn’t that because he was alive?” Gun questions.

He nodded his head. Troy looked at him, saying, “I hope this doesn’t bite us in the ass. She is supposed to know her pce and stay far away from both businesses.”

Nodding his head, Chips asked, “do you think she’s up to something?”

“No, more on the side that she doesn’t trust Gun.”

“But she spoke so highly of him and even told King to pursue him.”

  “Is that so?” Gun asked.

“Yes, I don’t know why she’d suddenly switch sides.”

“Do you know if there might be a bird whispering in her ears?”

“I can understand if she’s concerned for the children’s sake, but all she has to do is wait for Jason to come of age, then things get transferred over to her. I don’t see the reason or need to rush the process.”

Thinking hard about it, Troy said, “I think I should investigate this further.”

“SO you didn’t do that before?” Gun asked.

He shook his head. “No, there wasn’t a need to. She’d never betray King.”

“Well, I’m not King now am I.”

  They both nodded in silence.

Smiling, Gun said, “It’s best for her sake if you can solve this problem, Troy. If you need help, take Chips with you, but I need to see for myself if I’m dealing with a human or thing.”

The two men looked at each other asking the other telepathically what Gun could mean by those words, but they shook their heads.

“What will you do if this is a problem?” Troy asked cautiously.

Raising a brow as he pced a fried chip in his mouth, Gun remained silent. It was best not to vocalise his evil thoughts.
