Once I woke up the following morning, the first thing I did was wake up Kuramon. Pressing the left and bottom right buttons released the purple jellyfish from the device in a burst of energy. Appearing on the bed, “Aaawwa…” the little guy let out a tired chitter its rge eye could hardly stay open.
Picking him up, I pced him on my head, wearing him like a hat, before heading to the bathroom to brush my teeth. His body gave out to the vibrations of the electric toothbrush, closing its rge eye and melting in bliss. “Awwawwa…”
After brushing my teeth, I headed for the living room and pced another pte of steak for Kuramon. Who immediately perked up at the smell.
“AwA! ~~” Kuramon sat and munched etedly while I prepared my breakfast.
After eating our morning meals, I put Kuramon away again in the Digivice on my wrist. Its getinous body once again bloated with food.
On the list today was figuring out what this little guy and the Porygon are capable of in the real world. After that, if there's time for it, I'll see if a Beldum can be controlled enough to exist inside the house.
To do that, I need to retool a new testing area.
Searching through one of the files on my desktop, I found a clean version of the operating room without any of the clutter. It was in a near-bnk state and would be the perfect testing site.
Next was some electronics, a couple computers, phones, and a pair of routers (I still needed to set one up here), It's amazing what you can find online. With everything packed, I grabbed the Pokeball and headed inside to set things up.
Using my Bloodborn to assist me in plugging everything in, the setup became a breeze. With the setup swiftly completed, all that was left was the guinea pig (polyhedron?).
Tossing the Pokeball it bounced on the ground once before popping open, a mass of energy released before reforming into a familiar blocky shape before the ball came back in my direction. Catching it, looked over its glossy surface before my eyes were drawn towards the strange blocky body of the Porygon.
Looking it over once again, its two-foot-tall pink polyhedral body with a blue front, blue triangur prism feet, and a blue rectangur prism tail. It hovered about a foot from the ground with its main block bobbing back and forth like a drinking bird, its feet spinning. One was spinning clockwise while the other was countering.
Now in the real world, it took on a more realistic appearance from what it has always looked like in the games. The skin or surface of its crystal-like body was covered in some form of micro-LED cells that glowed as they transmitted pulses across its glossy surfaces. These pulses traveled all around the body.
What I was most curious about was the strange 'slot' formation at the center of its chest it was clearly designed explicitly for something to be inserted.
“Let’s get started then,” I said pulling out a genuine Pokedex (Gen 6). Holding the tablet before the Proygon the top and bottom sections extended leaving the touchscreen middle to process.
After the device scanned it for a moment, a synth voice released a statement in another incomprehensible nguage. I could guess what it was trying to say, “Porygon the Virtual Pokémon.” That's how it’s always been shown in the anime.
Tapping away at the screen to skip the rest of the incomprehensible expnation. I arrived at a list of known moves and the scanned Pokemon's ability. Once again, I was greeted with Moon runes, this time in Pokenese. But I could confirm that the Porygon so happened to know two right now. They were Tackle and Conversion.
Starting out swinging, “Move the data from that device to this one.” I requested but the Porygon didn’t move. It just floated there bobbing mechanically, its eyes scanned the room around us.
“Come here?” I asked getting the same response.
Trying again, this time pointing in front of me, “Come here?” I asked and the Porygon approached. Arriving before me, it let out a *Ding!* Now that it was closer, I could feel a warmth coming from its body.
“Go over there?” I asked pointing to the door to the storeroom. The Porygon obliged floating over and releasing another *Ding!*
Perhaps it doesn’t understand complex tasks? It was just born and probably has no idea what moving data from one device to the other means... Or more likely, it doesn’t understand what I'm saying. If that was the case this might get even more annoying, it wasn't exactly designed for someone from a different world to be using it.
Seeing as the Porygon could at least follow my directions so long as I was pointing, I pointed toward one of the nearby ptops.
Following the command, the Porygon arrived before the ptop's screen, its blocky body seemed to jitter momentarily contrary to its bobbing pattern before, pink, blue, and white squares appeared on the skin of the Porygon. As these strange grew in number quickly covering its surface, its body broke down into green 1’s and 0’s entering the computer screen.
"That was probably it using Conversion," I noted before taking a look at the ptop screen.
I saw a pop-up window had appeared in the middle of the screen. It was a strange pink and blue art, then a progress bar appeared. Simirly colored pink and blue rectangle patterns started to fill the bar. I couldn't help but wonder what it was doing. (Downloading information?)
It didn't take long for the bar to finish and once the bar had completed, a small Porygon was now sitting on the screen, the ptop had slowed down processing something.
*Ding!* another ding was released from the computer this time before the screen lit up and the Porygon came out. In another mass of code, reforming before me, it seemed to be more present, than before. Its eyes were no longer scanning around the room instead they were focused on me.
As the two of us seemed to observe each other, I couldn't help but wonder what it did aloud, “Did it get smarter”?
Rinng* The Porygon opened its blue beak releasing a high tone.
Looking at the strange creature as it just announced a 'correct' chime, “What did you do? Scan the internet”?
*Biing* It released a low tone.
“Scan the dictionary?”
*Rinng* The Porygon released a high tone again.
“You couldn’t understand me before but now you can?”
Porygon responded with, *Ding Ding Ding* akin to a jackpot sound.
My conversation with the Porygon continued in the form of 20 questions as it responded with, dings, bings, and boops.
After entering the computer, it Downloaded as much of the dictionary as it could find. An ingenious work of its programming but it still had limitations, it was able to answer simple questions and perform complex tasks, so long as the sequence was outlined properly. (In a step-by-step basis).
It can’t learn without being taught first. In the end, it was still very mechanical and because of its limited hardware, it is incapable of independent action unless otherwise specified. Like ‘defend yourself if you are attacked.’ If not commanded to it would just sit there.
“Perhaps there’s a way to upgrade… The Upgrade!” And that must be what that slot is for!
Returning to the Capsule house I started looking around. In the end, taking out the upgrade was a bit of a process; it took finding the most up-to-date image of the icon and upscaling it several times before my fingers could fit. Once I held it in my hand it looked like a hard drive with a gss housing.
Spoiler
Returning to Porygon who didn't even notice I had disappeared before returning, I inserted the Upgrade into the slot on its chest. "It really was made for this exact purpose..."
A few minutes passed but nothing happened. It looks like it needed something to trigger the activation.
"Nuts." It really would need to be traded If I wanted it to evolve.
The Porygon also released a low “Biing” tone.
“Can you copy data?” If it could, it would still be useful.
“Rinng!” another high tone of affirmation.
It proceeded to enter the ptop again and began writing data, the progression screen with pink and blue rectangles appeared again.
The process was a fair bit longer than the original scan but, completed in only taking a dozen minutes. Once it had finished, a unique window appeared on screen. It was a simir but old-fashioned file explorer containing all the copied files.
The ptop in question was a cleaned copy of my modified college ptop, it had a little over a terabyte of space and only ~100 gigabytes were currently used. It had taken the Porygon roughly 11 minutes to copy everything and dispy it. Checking the current storage, the ptop didn't even recognize that something had happened it was completely unnoticeable.
“I wonder…” Could I insert a hard drive into that slot? One with massive storage capacity? If it worked, I could send it out using the internet to collect a rge amount of data.
Once it returned, I would need to repce the drive before sending it out again. But if it worked, I could rapidly collect data from anywhere. However, the processing would be a nightmare.
“Can you sort the files?” a low “Biing” tone was released from the ptop. “You can’t… can I deselect things, so you don’t copy them?” A new window with a Pink, blue, pink square pattern appeared, moving up and down as it processed. Once it finished small squares were added to the copied data. Deselecting a couple different things in the menu, mainly the operating system files, as they would be unnecessary and redundant in most cases.
With the necessary information confirmed I brought the Porygon back to the real world. It continued floating around while I took out a hard drive. Inserting said hard drive into the slot on its chest worked smoothly without issues. Next, giving it a set of coordinates before it uses Conversion to travel through cyberspace to its estimated location to collect some juicy data.
All I had to do was wait for its return.
While I waited, I returned to the manual document and added another section.
Data: Data has been a rather annoying hurdle through the usage of my ability. Because I mainly use digital mediums the accompanying growth of these interacted files increases massively. This mainly comes down to an effect of my ability to increase the quality of images after I interact with them for a while.
Additionally, when on the Otherside of a video the time I spend inside gets added to the total, increasing its total runtime and necessary storage space.
Inserting my finger into an image for a couple seconds typically does nothing. However, in lower-quality images even this short connection increases image quality (drastically in some cases). This results in most mediums taking on HD (Or greater) quality and requiring the accompanying storage space.Note: Likely reted to my ability to develop images rapidly by inserting my finger.Additionally, the way my ability works with data is unclear. In the same way that refreshing the webpage restores things to before I interacted with them, information is passed down on a parent-to-child basis (typically). If the initial image dispyed on a computer (or server) is interacted with and this device is (directly) connected to another screen that image will dispy on the child/sub-dispy. However, if interaction is performed on the sub-dispy this interaction will not be seen or passed on the parent dispy. That is unless the original is saved or interacted with some time during the process. Doing so updates the original image.
This effect does not happen to servers. Only seems to work through a direct connection.A shared screen will have identical dispys.Videos: After interaction, a video pyer may or may not recognize the additional time added to the sub-dispy. Regardless the video will py out until the discrepancy and stop on the parent dispy while continuing on the sub-dispy. If a refresh occurs while trying to watch said video will take on the altered sub-settings.Notes:
Confirmed:
If connecting two different mediums with different art styles what happens?
If two images with different art styles are stitched together in an editor, moving between them causes the object to take on either style. If connecting two separate mediums using my hands, after a short while the style will bleed through from one to the other. If held long enough the two will trade art styles.
Keeping the door open = True
Determine the possible safety implications.Avoid leaving free-standing mediums lying around.
Unconfirmed:
What happens to an object in the middle of coming out of the screen if said screen gets turned off?
Either the object returns to the screen or is ejected from it.Or it gets cut in half brutally. What happens if I'm on the Otherside when the screen is turned off?Do captions work?
Maybe?
Other:
Research Otherworld properties.
Ki sealing? What can and cannot be used in different worlds?
What are the dungeons?
Where are they coming from? How do they work? Are they reted to someone's ability?"I think that’s everything," I confirmed looking over the test additions to the manual and the edits to the notes section.
