With those four animals fully butchered, Marion still had a lot of space left in her pack, which meant she would not have to make the trip to the next town quickly. Which was good since she had ADHD and would often get distracted and sidetracked.
Speaking of that ADHD, the roll of papers started to vibrate slightly. Once in my hands they stopped vibrating and one scroll started to have a little bit of a shine on it, so Marion brought it to the front. The paper didn’t have any writing except for the name of the dungeon “Lost Sanctum of the Spider Knight” which is cool, but Marion wished there was more information.
She decided to start waving it around half in exasperation and that is when she noticed it reacted to the direction, she held it in. So, she followed the logic and started to look for the entrance by waving the scroll around.
It wasn’t long before Marion found spider webs covering entire trees. With her bow out she made sure to be extra careful because if she stepped on a single thread, it would alert every spider and that was the last thing she needed.
In the distance she could see a large estate with a massive gothic vibe with grotesques and gargoyles in the shape of various spiders. As she approached the estate, she saw the spider webs did not touch the house.
She knew she was in the right place, and this had to the dungeon the map was hinting at.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
The front of the house was very imposing, with a pair of Driders standing at the bottom and the top of the stairs. The house seemed to be made entirely of grey wood, which was probably from the area.
Marion was very careful as she approached the first set of Driders expecting them to come to life at any moment. Once she reached the front door and nothing came to life and attacked Marion let out the breath she was holding.
The door opened easily and without making a sound, as soon as Marion crossed the threshold the edges of the scroll looked like they were being burnt. Marion looked up from the scroll to investigate her surroundings.
It was hard to see since there was debris scattered about, and the windows covered with vines. There was a doorway leading deeper, there was also a door on the right side. What stood out the most to Marion was the two wolf spiders sleeping in the Northwest corner she could see through the debris.
After careful consideration, she decided to take out the first spider with an arrow straight to the brain. Thankfully it didn’t alert the other one, but she couldn’t get a clear shot from where she was because of a coffee table. It was easy for Marion to take a couple of silent steps to the left and fire off an arrow to take out the other spider. It didn’t take her long to harvest the bodies of the spiders. Marion was able to harvest the fangs and poison sacs without much issue, carefully putting them in her backpack.
With the immediate threat gone, Marion took a closer look at her surroundings. The room she was in seemed to be filled with several bookshelves, and a few tables. There are two doors, one directly across the front door and the other door is to the right.
