After a quick decision, Marion decided to down the side passage. It looked like it had the least number of webs blocking her passage. While trying to move quietly down the hallway, Marion got momentarily distracted by a partially surviving painting of a family where the little girl looked vaguely like her.
During the moment of distraction, a spider drops from the ceiling and thanks to her fast reflexes she was able to get the bow between her and the spider.
It was with considerable effort that Marion was able to pull out an arrow from her quiver and stab the spider in one of its eyes with it.
The spider immediately recoils with a hiss, which gave Marion room to take her kusarigama and slice into the flesh right between the labium and sternum cutting up into the brain.
“Holy fuck that was close” Marion says to no one at all.
After taking several minutes to catch her breath, she starts to harvest the spider. To her surprise the spider was female which allowed Marion to harvest the ovaries. Apparently, they can be used in potions and fetch a decent price.
“Good thing I’m headed to a big town where I should be able to sell all these materials. Which will go a long way to improving the village, so much to do though” Marion says aloud while stretching her arms, getting her joints to pop.

At the end of the hallway there were two rooms, one on the left and the other on the right. Without thinking too much, Marion goes into the room on the right, that turns out to be a bedroom.
It was quite opulent or would have been in the prime. There was a huge four poster bed in the middle with curtains tied to the bed posts, with a cold fireplace. Two nice nightstands sat on either side of the bed. Marion saw several bookshelves knocked over. After a quick search the only thing of value she found was just a few copper coins.
The room at the other end of the hallway was a copy of the other bedroom, apart from a corpse sitting on the floor across from the door. It looked like they were expecting someone or something to follow them.
Marion searched the room really quick and didn’t find anything. Next was the dead adventurer. The bow was of good make, and there were even seven arrows in the quiver, Marion’s quiver was a better quality though. The bag was tied to the pants, which annoyed her, the only contents were a few more coins and a couple of vials that looked like potions. Anyone who has taken an earth chemistry class knows not to drink fluids you don’t recognize and since none of the vials had a label Marion wasn’t going to drink them.
“Well fuck” Marion says standing up and looking around the room. “Guess it’s time to take the other hallway.”
Once back in the main room, Marion took a more critical look down the hallway. This time she could see two spiders hanging from the ceiling and two more at various points further down the hall.
“Guess it’s a good thing I’m don’t have arachnophobia; else this would be a legit nightmare” Marion grumbles.
She knew she could get a clean shot of only one of the spiders before they would respond. Marion knew she needed a plan, but it didn’t have to be too elaborate thankfully.
