Rain Out

"Did you get a letter?" Cooper asked as he picked the beige letter off his blanket. I shook my head. It was raining, and I was worrying if my letter got lost, or rained on so much that the letter was no longer readable. Jake walked in, soaking wet from the pouring rain. His hair hadn't absorbed much of the rain. I glanced at him, as he grabbed a towel from a kid. He had a book bag hanging like a purse at his hip. "I got the rest of your kiddos letters." He said, walking to the center of the cabin. I crossed my fingers and climbed down my bunk ladder. A flood of kids were crowding Jake. "Okay, thanks for the towel Phoenix." He set the yellow towel down beside him and opened his book bag. It was visibly old, and made of leather. The book bag barely opened for Jake. "Isaac Brandley." Jake said, swiping the first letter from the book bag. Isaac, 14, glasses, longer black hair, and was taller than Clay, grabbed his letter and scrambled back to his bunk. Jake smiled and pulled out another letter. "Wesley... Harper." Jake tossed the letter up in the air, making Wesley jump. He had beige-grey hair, blue eyes, and he was barely eighteen, his birthday being a month before camp. "Enzo Mockerson." Jake called out, and when he did, a swarm of letters fell out. Kids fell on their knees and snatched each letter their parents had sent them. I grabbed my letter after Enzo handed it to me, and I crawled back into my bunk bed. I adjusted my pillow and put my pillow against the foot of window I had, and opened it. The letter wasn't huge, probably smaller then his hand. The letter said; Hey, Walker! We love you. We wanna know, what do you do at camp? We dropped you off at the right one... right? Anyways, tell us about the activities you do!

Now, it wouldn't be a problem to tell the truth... except... This was a hero camp he could never tell anything about, not to his own parents. That was the first rule on the Hero Academic Rules. The more important ones than, "Make sure to wear bug spray!" Or, "Always drink two cups of water per meal or snack!" The H.A.R was more important than his parents, for now. He wouldn't be able to tell until they found out themselves. He grabbed a empty sheet of paper, and a pen, and started writing with his shaky writing. He was still questioning which parent wrote that, so he just put; "Hey guys. I love you both! I do rock climbing, archery, swimming, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and much more! Yes, you dropped me off at the right camp. This camp is one of the best I've ever been at." His hand cramped at how many times he rewrote a few words. "Once you're done with your personal letters, put them in the indoor mailbox." Jake cleared his throat as he walked out of the cabin bathroom, in dry clothes. I yawned and put on my hoodie. "Dinnertime, campers." The screechy, annoying Food Inspector announced. I groaned and walked with Clay and Cooper out of the cabin. I draped my hood over my head and walked into the Mess Hall. It smelled like burgers and fruit punch. Kids literally climbed on tables and fought each other over having the ketchup, grabbing cheeseburgers, and getting Raspberry Lemonade. I walked over to Table Champion, waiting for Cooper and Clay. This bigger, much older, probably 20 year old kid, came up to me and snickered. "You're like, ten. Idiots don't belong at this camp. Ya know, heroes are meant to be older and have the ability to take hits." he sneered. The dumb kid, who looked fatter, started throwing insults at me. "I don't have the foodbank over here!" I wailed, loud enough for the large Mess Hall to erupt with laughter. The bigger kid froze, visibly embarrassed, and trailed back off to his seat. I sighed, and waited for Cooper and Clay to return. Opal walked up to me, still chuckling. "You made Ricky's face turn fifty shades of red!" She smiled. I nodded. Opal sat down with her burger and fries and waited for Clay and Cooper with me. "He might as well be going to a foodbank, because I saw him take two sides of fries and three burgers. The Camp Owner said that the limit is one burger, side of fries, and two drinks of 'Special Boost.'" My jaw dropped into a grin. Cooper came back, smiling and set down his tray of food.

"No one disrespects Table Champion." Cooper declared as he grabbed his cup of Fruit Punch, or better known here as 'Special Boost.' Why... well, I don't know. Clay sat in the small bench beside me and set my tray of food down in front of me. I thanked him and ate my fries first. For the weirdo I am, I put ketchup and Mustard and mixed them together, dipping my burger together. Ricky walked back over and stared at me, as if I had just said I stole puppies for fun. "You're teeth are so yellow, cars slow down." I scoffed and shook my head slowly. "You're so fat, not even hulk could carry you." I shot back. He stormed off so fast, I could have sworn the floorboards started to cave in. I ate the rest of my burger in peace, listening to Cooper and Opal banter over why pickles don't belong on burgers.

A few minutes later, as if a Disney Show kid walked in, a pretty cute girl, in my opinion walked in. I had completely stopped eating my burger, fries, and sipping my fruit punch. She had blonde hair, greenish-blue eyes, she had a pretty smile... You should have seen how I looked in that moment.

"Walkers' got a crush! Walkers' got a crush!" I felt flustered hearing Clay chant that. Opal turned and looked at the person I liked. She smiled turning back to me. Cooper was grinning. "You like Fern?" Opal smiled. I bit my lip and before I shook my head, Clay gently put his hand on my head and made me nod. I felt even more flustered. "He's blushing!" Cooper said. "I dare 'ya, say hi to her!" Opal cheered. I shook my head and gripped on to my fruit punch ever-so tightly, my knuckles turned white. Cooper was in hysterics. Clay shook the table. "Oww!" Cooper groaned and held his leg. Clay probably kicked him. "Cooper has a crush-"

  "No,"

  "Yes."

  "No!"

  "Yes!"

"Cooper has a crush on Emerson."

Cooper blushed so red, he could have been counted as a tomato! Opal jeered and mimicked him, in hysterics. Clay smirked and ate his burger. "Opal has a crush on Kai!" Cooper sputtered. Opal turned fifty shades of pink and buried her face in her sleeves. Clay mimicked the both of them, in hysterics. "Clay has a crush on Willow!" Clay got up, with his styrofoam cup of fruit punch and booked it for the door. "He doesn't have a crush on her, he is dating her!" I said. Cooper's jaw dropped. I ate the rest of my fries, and burger, and headed to the cabin for bed. Walking there, I saw a bunch of fireflies gathering around me. I smiled, seeing my favorite color, (orange) and walked to the cabin.

"Good night," I whispered to Clay before drifting off into the really random dreams I have.
