80 - Traveling - Maeve

  Dear Risa,

Some asshole tried claiming that we opened their mail and stole something. Which was very rude. As if we’d want to steal some boring mail. I mean, the mail is probably just a bunch of junk that’s only valuable to the people who order it, anyway. Why would I bother looking through it, much less take something.

The guy was like “ooooooo I’m gonna tell the Guild and you’ll be in sooooo much trouble!”. Which honestly would be an annoyance more than anything. But, we just so happen to have a Spy traveling with us.

And what’s one of the spells a Spy can cast? That’s right, Truth. Echo just cast Truth on him and asked if anything was really missing. He tried so very hard to say yes. He did his best. But, in the end, he had to say no.

  Loser.

Apparently this guy is a known nuisance, because the mayor was rolling her eyes so hard at him I was worried about some kind of permanent damage. And when he said no, he wasn’t missing anything, she did not seem surprised in the least.

Oh! Cali was asking around, and found out there’s a type of cream that helps loosen sand. I guess it was driving her as crazy as it was driving me. And the lady who owns the inn here said any hairdresser should be able to get the worst of it out. So tomorrow morning before we leave, the local beautician will be coming over to wash our hair. Mine and Cali’s and Echo’s. The guys said they don’t want any part of it. Eeeespecially since I kinda offered the lady a slightly absurd price to come over early, which the girls are splitting with me.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

Just to prove how much they don’t mind having sand embedded into their skin, the guys will be going swimming in the ocean while we get our hair washed.

I kinda want to make a bet with Cali about how long it’ll be before they come to me and ask how to get it out. Or, no, I should just insist they both get haircuts. Maki’s hair is getting shaggy, and as his sister it is my duty to keep him presentable. And Luke’s hair is getting a little long; I should ask if he wants long hair or not. If he hasn’t thought about it, I’ll tell him to get a haircut. As his girlfriend, it is my duty to keep him presentable.

Yeah, I need to corral them into getting haircuts. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve bullied those boys into doing something to improve their looks and/or hygiene.

Risa, dear, I feel sorry for you, having no brothers. You’ll never know the joy of chasing someone around the house with a stick of deodorant and screaming death threats at him unless he uses it.

Hmmmmm yeah, I’ll tell Maki to get a haircut or else I’ll bond with Echo by telling her all the stories from his I-don’t-need-deodorant phase. Or, no, I’ll tell her about the time he came over, when I’d just moved in to your place, after he’d been training in the mud and he hadn’t showered, and your staff had him arrested thinking he was a homeless person trying to break in. That should do the trick.

Yep, it’s such a shame you don’t have anyone around who you can blackmail.

  Tragic Regards,

  Maeve Zee
