Dear Risa,
I am now no longer a noob at surfing. I’m no expert, but I don't suck as much as I did yesterday.
Also, my fur is full of sand again. Joy of joys.
Oh, for the beach here, since Luke wasn’t around, I got a slightly less exciting bikini. Not that it really helped; Echo attracted a fair amount of attention just by not being a neko, and then when she made us surfboards… Yeah, what can I say, I’m doomed to getting friends who are the most interesting person in any given room. You know the pain, Risa dear.
I wonder what will happen when I get both of you into a room together. I wouldn’t bet against a cult worshipping you springing into existence. If I weren’t already chosen by the Goddess Bonnie, I might have volunteered as your first priestess.
Wait, no, if Echo starts dating Maki, then he’ll stop any cults from forming just to annoy you. Unless I stop him from stopping it.
Anyhow. Tomorrow we’re headed off to a town called Innsnose. Yes. Innsnose.
I just…
It…
I might have to ask about that one.

Like, Eightport and Nineport are obviously lazy names. Zero effort. Then there’s things like Ooloopop and Mlem, which are just random letters. And Mouse and Default are just random words. But Innsnose sounds specific somehow. Like there’s a reason to it, same as Dogroofs.
Maybe as soon as we get there I’ll understand. I’ll see some detail around the town and it’ll all click into place. I doubt it. But maybe.
Actually, I’m staying in the Travelers’ Guild. I should go down and ask around if anyone else has noticed how names are kinda stupid and/or insane, and what their theories on it are. Somehow I doubt my theory on how all these places got their names isn’t going to be a common one.
Or maybe I’m the only person who’s really thought about it. I mean, in my group, I’m certainly the person who’s thought about it most. I don’t know. You always said I obsess over details. To which I reply, details are my job.
Oh, speaking of details, my eyes turned blue today. They were supposed to only change when I get access to water magic, but I guess the Goddess decided I needed blue eyes early. I checked for any water spells; so far I don’t have anything.
There was a big earthquake today. Bigger than usual. I assume by the time this is over, I’ll be calling it a mini baby earthquake.
Cali has been visiting farms around here, telling all the animals to not be stressed, and today at dinner she had a revelation. She jumped up shouting “ground bad” and ran off to talk to the local Guild director.
I don’t know what she’s talking about. But then, whenever she gets excited about something it’s often hard to figure out what she’s talking about. Kinda like her brain is going too fast for her mouth to keep up, and skips words.
Hopefully the director can figure it out.
Hoping Regards,
Maeve Zee
