  Hey Diary,

I messed up. Big time. I wanted all the animals to stop fighting over territory, but I was a little out of it, and caught all living things in my range in the spell.

The Goddess Bonnie came down and was mad at me. She said I almost messed up bad enough for her to take away all my magic. But since all I said was for everyone to be friends for two weeks, it was ok. And the spell was dispersed enough that smart creatures, like neko and changelings, can break through it fairly easily.

The only thing truly bad I said was for everyone to shut up. But that phrase really does imply a temporary quiet. If I’d said to stop talking, that might have been an issue.

So yeah, that wasn't good. All the animals have stopped fighting, though. They aren't happy to all be crowded into a small area, but they just glare at each other until one goes away. Which is better than fighting.

Thankfully all the prey species came down as well as the predators, which means none of the truly dangerous creatures are gonna go hungry. The forest and meadows might be stripped a little bare, but they’ll recover within a year, pretty sure.

I mean, as long as the forests and meadows aren't destroyed by lava or a tsunami or anything.

I don't know, my job is just to make sure the animals stay alive. Right now, they’re all still alive. And that’s all I can ask for right now.

Anyways, we’ll be in this town for another week and some-odd. I’ve met a few people around, and they all seem nice. There’s a lady who feeds all the local birds; she’s funny. There aren't any big livestock farmers, but there’s two people who have a handful of chickens and a cow; they’re nice. The people, not the cow. Well, the cow is nice, too. And the diner owner here asked if I wanted to trade recipes. I agreed, but just because I have nothing better to be doing.

There are a few people around who are suspicious of me because I have charm magic. They think I'm gonna take over their minds or something.

I’m not. That would be breaking my promise to the Goddess. But I don't think saying that would be good. Somehow, telling people you aren't evil just makes them more suspicious. Weird.

Oh, Echo and Maeve are kinda a little obsessed with surfing now. It’s fun and all, but not enough to go out and spend most of pretty much every day out there. Maki joins them a lot, but Luke and I don't.

I just don't like needing to brush sand out of my fur and tail every night. And being on the beach is a little dangerous because when earthquakes hit, sand turns to quicksand.

Luke doesn't join because he has work here. I guess the town doesn't have a Runesmith. He’s always carving rocks or gems, just working away.

I’d ask what he’s carving, but he’s still a little mad at me about stealing the rune drawing from his book.

…I wonder if I should tell him I still have it drawn in here.

No, that probably wouldn't end well. I’ll only bring it up if someone asks.

  Signing off,
