'They seem quite silly.'
Cheerful banter passed between them like siblings. I don't have siblings. By the time I realized it, I loosened up a little to them. Fiercely patting my face twice, I reminded myself.
'This is fake. They want to use you. They aren't letting me leave.'
All of a sudden a mutter was heard from behind me.
"Hey, do you think we picked up an idiot?"
"I wish."
Annoying. Why are they so annoying? The st straw broke, and I immediately started my escape with the entire camp right in around me. A frown furrowed my face as I began. One step at a time into the ground. The rope stretched taut as it stretched above the ground in their hands. A force started pulling upwards.
Both arms pointing up, the rope slithered off my arms. It was an obvious loophole they ignored, as they wanted to keep me comfortable? Diving deeper with eyes closed, ears focused on what is happening above.
Angry shouts were heard as they started bming each other for my escape. Probably the duo was getting smmed as they were supposed to look over me, rope in Escioulia’s hand and the guy distracted her. A grin split my face as a refreshing feeling swept all bad feelings under the rug.
‘Serves them right.’
A master escapist that’s what I am. Moving away again, I stopped to think about how I was caught, as next time wouldn’t be so lucky.
‘How I got caught: Negligence from opening a hole in the ground. How to solve: Have more muscles, or not open the ground to talk.’
A sharp pang of pain spiked through my head as I held it with both hands. Both options I thought of require some form of time and training. Eventually, I will succeed in both, but right now? I need more food… which I haven’t eaten for over a week. It was around a week right? To cross the mountain.
A sudden realization hit me, I was or was not 15, depending on how long I traveled. But to know what day it is requires human civilization… Why didn’t I ask before I left? Is it too te now? A dash of regret passed by quickly as my thoughts churned. If they go to war, there must be others besides them.
The Gates of Mourning to the south east of Terbisia is a major chokepoint protecting the city. Perhaps it’s the Noxians versus us Demacians? There must be more of them somewhere…
A sigh left my mouth as I needed to travel again. Skinny arms adorned my body. The sleeves of my shirt are a little shorter than st time. No food required, but something needs to come from somewhere to grow the body.
‘Now where are the other people that are doing this war? Hope they have some food to ‘donate’.’
As a goal for myself, I need to find what day it is. To search more effectively, I should look for a clearer pce as these trees are blocking my view. In a matter of minutes, I spotted a trail of smoke in the distance.
“Lucky!”
Now’s the conundrum, walk in or sneak in. Or just walk in and sneak out. I have the means but not the motives. My mouth salivated at the smell of roast fowl. Why was there someone roasting food? A voice whispered in my head.
‘Don’t question, just go…’
Now I have a motive. A rapid sprint towards the smell brought me straight towards the smoke. Slowing down right before they can see me, hiding behind the bushes. A vast clearing showcased a weird mishmash of tents and wobbly wood structures. The stench hit right while I was drooling over the fowl spit roasted over a fire. A foul odor of feces and sweat swept over me.
Wrinkling my nose, I spied upon the scene. A ragtag group of what appeared to be fighters were surrounding a fire. Children lurked around the camp, unkempt and dirty, one started sneaking towards the meat. A gruesome fate was enacted. The adult leered, smacking the head of the thief, before more joined in.
Covering my eyes, I couldn't bear to look anymore. Sounds of smacking repeatedly occurred, as yaps occasionally was heard. Peeking past my fingers, I noticed something strange. The bird that was roasted is not present anymore. Removing my hands, there was a band of children surrounding something in the distance, tearing at something in their hands, eating as fast as they could.
Shouts reverberated as the fighters finally noticed the disappearance of the bird. A chase started as the children scattered. All that was left is a battered and bloody small body left near a fire. Moving past the cover I was behind, I eventually stood in front of the body. There was no movement in their chest. A still, warm body. Shaking my head I gained a realization.
'This could have been me. If I didn't have a family. If I didn't have good neighbors. If I didn't have magic. I do not have the time to save others. I can barely even help myself.'
Chuckling helplessly, I walked away. Towards the inside of the filthy pce.
