Chapter 94

“I- It was our father’s fault, if not for him, we brothers wouldn't have killed each other! I didn’t want it to end like this!”

Scarlet Ossuary shows sorrow on her face, while Coldness Divine remains unmoved. Her eyes glance at the sand on the ground, signaling her to get back to work.

“It’s true, father wanted the strongest of us to inherit the throne, he said it was an ancient tradition... And he said it again the day I killed him and pinned his head to the castle gates... An opportunity you wisely used to gather my opponents and try to kill me once more.”

Coldness Divine recalls the day she killed her own father. It was a memorable day, she remembers that nothing that happened in the kingdom could wipe the smile off her face.

“I know well you regret having failed, Scarlet Ossuary, just like all your attempts to kill me when I didn't even know how to fight yet.”

Their father, the former king, from birth gave each of his seven children a different circumstance to overcome. Some were raised by soldiers to join the army as soon as they met the age requirements, while others grew up in a cradle of gold being the princess of the kingdom from the start.

This is the case for Scarlet Ossuary, who from birth already had the power of an entire kingdom as the sole princess.

“What did that man expect by making you a princess while sending the rest of us to the ends of the kingdom? To surpass his test? Hahaha!”

Coldness Divine grew up as the illegitimate daughter of a noble, hidden in a remote village so no one would know of her existence. Until that fateful day, the village was annihilated, being that day the first time she regress a day before her death and the memories forcibly embedded in her mind.

From that moment on, Coldness Divine slowly began to strengthen herself, but still unable to face any of her older sister's schemes. She had to rely on the people around her, learn to use them. Position them in the right place and at the right time to force them to help her, to turn the unfavorable board.

Because of this, she hates to trust others, because on more than one occasion, for the simple fact of not having smiled, of not having sighed, in her next regression they refused to lend her a hand. Because moments and emotions are important, she who lost the latter could not replicate the same expression a second time.

At a later date, she discovered that, while she was only 11 years old at the time of the disaster, her older sister already was 30 years old. Her own sister tried to kill her, this milestone marked the history of Coldness Divine.

Coldness Divine looks at her sister and smiles. “The day father crowned me as princess… I still remember your face. The humiliations you put me through since then I swore one day to return them. You don’t know it, but the same day I met the requirements to ascend to the Divine Plane was your luckiest day.”

Scarlet Ossuary stops digging for a second and hears her younger sister’s words, fearing and longing to hear them, because to this day she doesn't understand why Coldness Divine has left her alive.

"Before that day, I was looking for a husband for you, elder sister. A man who would make your life a living hell, who would make you regret opposing me. But after knowing I would go to the Divine Plane and wouldn't be able to enjoy your suffering, I decided to leave you in peace for one reason only. If there's something I'm proud of, it's being a dragon. I couldn't allow this kingdom to disappear because of one of my decisions."

For the first time in her life Coldness Divine approaches her older sister and gently strokes her back.

“Now that I’m back everything will be as before, Scarlet Ossuary.”

  “Ah a- ah…Ah aah ah…”

With a cruel smile, Coldness Divine whispers: “I found you a man.”

  “I- I’m sorry, I- I’m sorry”

Scarlet Ossuary seems to have gone mad, apologizing while with her hands she continues gathering sand and damaging her fingers in the process. Coldness Divine cheerfully gets up from the ground and looks back, the next second a man suddenly appears and kneels before her.

“You do not know how much I have wished for your well-being and even more for your return, allow me once more to swear my loyalty to you.”

Coldness Divine nods silently and the man continues his oath.

“I, Ninth Twilight, swear my loyalty to Miss Coldness Divine. If you allow me to raise my weapon, I promise to head to the ends of the world if that means defeating all your enemies.”

“Ninth Twilight, you once commanded my army as its general, the wars that are coming need resolution. If you are willing to follow me, gather all those who swore their loyalty to me. You will be my commander again.”

With a sincere smile, Ninth Twilight gets up from the ground and bows respectfully. Before his departure, Coldness Divine hands him a map.

“Go and find the magic artifact I hid in that place, it will be necessary for our plans. Its existence is a kingdom secret.”

  “As you command.”

Coldness Divine turns around and sees her older sister still trying to fill the sack of potatoes with sand. She coldly smiles and kicks the sack, spilling its contents on the ground.

“I changed my mind, that sack does not seem suitable for a gift. Keep digging, but this time find a quality item.”

“Y- Yes, I will send a servant to find an item that suits your preferences sister.”

As Coldness Divine walks away completely from her, Queen Scarlet Ossuary goes mad. She screams and uses magic to destroy everything around her. The submissive and fearful face disappears without a trace, replaced by limitless hatred and thirst for revenge.

“I will kill you Coldness Divine! I will cling to this life with that sole purpose!”

The tremors still do not disappear from her body, but that will not prevent her from fulfilling her single wish. She is willing to do anything to achieve it.

That day the army of the Fafnir Kingdom gathers in one place.

The current general abdicates his position before all those present and that is not all, the former general once again steps onto the podium. Ninth Twilight, the general whose military records rise like no other, returns as the army's general.

All questions disappear at the moment of seeing the arrival of a beautiful dragon woman with short wavy hair. Queen Scarlet Ossuary may have done everything possible to clean up her dark past, but she could not erase the mark left by her younger sister. A single gesture on her part is enough for a new army to join the current one, all of them retired men, not for lack of skill, but for lack of a worthy being to swear their loyalty to. All return to be under the command of Coldness Divine.

Today the entire army swears loyalty to her, understanding that the glory of the Fafnir Kingdom can only be by her side. But the words that surprised everyone was that there was a being that could take them even further than she could, a man born to be emperor.

The portal appear in front of the army and Coldness Divine is the first to cross, the army advances in an orderly fashion through the portal and they are surprised by the radical change of the environment. Once everyone has advanced, Coldness Divine appears with a man by her side.

The army knows what to do next.

  “Glory to Emperor Lawrence!”

A new milestone is written in the history of the Inferior Plane.

  +++

From the sky Lawrence watches over the army made up of dragons, all of them proudly showing their wings and tails which also have armor parts. Nothing exists as decoration, all armor on their bodies is designed for large-scale combat between kingdoms.

Lawrence knows he needs to demonstrate his authority and does not hesitate to use his level 507 to press the entire army. When everyone clenches their teeth trying to withstand the pressure, Lawrence makes his intentions known.

“The Inferior Plane will be mine.”

Such arrogance should conflict with dragon pride, yet such a thing does not happen. That man not only has intentions, but Coldness Divine by his side. She is not someone who follows the weak, Emperor Lawrence has achieved something no one else has done in the Inferior Plane.

Gaining the recognition of a dragon.

The army retreats leaving only Commander Ninth Twilight behind, who courteously greets Lawrence despite being a mere human.

“I, Ninth Twilight, swear my loyalty to Emperor Lawrence. My loyalty will be by your side as long as Miss Coldness Divine’s loyalty is with yours.”

Coldness Divine gets angry upon hearing his oath, That was not what they had agreed upon previously!

  “Ninth Twilight, you--”

With a hand Lawrence stops her from continuing and says: “It’s fine, Coldness Divine. I am glad he has courage, I just hope his sharpness is not only found in words.”

“I am ready to prove my loyalty at any time.”

“Hm, I like that. That moment will come soon, you may withdraw.”

  “Yes.”

Once the commander returns to his kingdom through the portal, Lawrence extends his hand and caresses Coldness Divine's cheek. She frowns, indicating that she does not like having her face touched.

“You’ve done well, thanks to you my dream is one step from being fulfilled.”

“Hmph, if only you were satisfied with the Inferior Plane…”

Lawrence smiles cheerfully at her words.

Coldness Divine fears that, this same man who enjoys mocking her, might one day wish to extend his claws to the Divine Plane. And when such a thing happens, she is not sure how many deaths she will have to face to remain by his side.

Or if her sanity will allow it.
